August 2009 code watch

But are we absolutely sure that they will offer free dining?
Considering the bounceback deal was for free dining, and some CMs and TAs have been hinting about it.. I would think so. They're going to need to do everything they can to get people in the parks, and since this has worked in the past, when the economy wasn't as bad, I don't see why they wouldn't do it now.

Why fix something when it isn't broken?

We are thinking about going August 17-21, since I check in for my College Program on the 19th. So two days before with my family, and then 2 days after so they can help me settle in. Sounds like a good deal to me .

I hope they give a FL resident discount, we could really use it. For ASMo and 5 days in the parks it is either 1,201.36 without park hopper and 1,307.84 with park hopper. But we rarely use park hopper, so we'll see...

Our 8/10 -- 8/20 dates didn't work for 4/3. I did the math for a split stay with FD, and keeping our AAA room only rate is a better deal for us than tacking FD onto the last 4 days of our trip. : (

Right now, I'm really hoping that a room only code will be offered later for August dates like ours that slipped through the cracks with the other discounts.

Does anyone think that there's a chance of an August room only code being offered later this spring or early this summer? I hope so!

We're probably going to book 8/23 - 8/29 with free dining, plus DH's birthday is the 27th!! But...I called this morning to see if I had a pin attached to my name, and I did not. :guilty:

Would it help our odds at all if I requested a vacation planning DVD in DH's name? On our last trip, everything was in my name and I've read how specific Disney can be. Maybe the more names they have, the better the odds are of getting a pin code?? Hey - I'm grasping at straws here! :rotfl:

You don't need a code. You can book free dining for those dates starting on March 30th (or today if you have a Disney Visa).

I was talking about a pin code for the room. Last year was our first trip, and I had ordered the vacation planning DVD and when I called in to actually make the reservation, I got a lovely surprise that we would be getting 30% off our room. I called today, *hoping* to hear the same surprise that I could combine with the free dining for an extra magical trip, but it looks like we'll have to pay full price for the room. But we're still getting free dining, so it's not a bad deal at all. It would just be great if we could get both!! :cloud9:

It doesn't matter if they send you a code, you'd have to choose one or the other you can't combine discounts.

Anyone going in the beginning of August and bumbed about not getting free dining?
My dates or August 4-15th and of course my luck FD starts the 16th. My kids go back to school on the 18th and I'm a substitute teacher so we wouldn't be able to make the FD dates. I'm hoping that means that the crowds will be lower in the beginning of August.

I'm hoping for an AP room discount. As of today I have the 4/3 deal booked!

A little bit but I really wasn't expecting the free dining to start in August any way. I pretty much knew that free dining wouldn't be offered for early August once the buy 4/get 3 free promo was extended. We traveled to WDW last year during the first full week of August and I was able to book a room only reservation with an End of Summer promo. Right now, I am booked with the buy 4/get 3 free promo and am happy with the cost of the trip.

We currently booked Aug 7th to Aug 21st with the Airline discount. I can now move my leave we can leave anytime from the 13th. What would be the best option. Have the 13th to the 15th with the airline or do a 4/3 for deal 13th to the 17th.

Also with the 4/3 do we need to purchase park tickets aswell....

I thought combining them would be too good to be true!

But what about AAA? What kind of a discount do they offer, and can you get FD with that?

AAA is 10% of value and mods and 15% of deluxe. You cant add free dining to that because it is considered another discount. You can book free dining trough AAA but you won't be saving any money

I have been reading about FD and I was wondering how it works? I am booked for August 31-Sept 3, 2009 at Kidani AKV. I am renting points from a fellow DVC member. There are 9 people in our party, so therefore we will be registering for a "Grand Gathering". I was wondering do I qualify for FD? and if so how do I go about getting FD?
Thanks

that sucks! what if I change my hotel to POP would that work?

Yes, as long as they have availablility:thumbsup2

We have 2 rooms bookes at pop. Just waiting till monday when it opens up to the general public.

My TA cancelled my room only (40% PIN) ressie at Pop today and rebooked us with Free Dining! We'll be there August 23-29. Just my oldest dd and I. Looking forward to it and doing Disney Math FD was a better deal for us!

Yeah!
