We're aiming for the week of 8/9 at POR and we're hoping for a room-only discount.
I wish we could go later in the month, but dh is a teacher and has to be back to work too early to take advantage of any end-of-the-month offers. So, my fingers are crossed for a Mid-August discount!
Does anyone know when school starts down South in 2009? It's typically mid-August, right? We're going down Aug 22nd (from NY) and curious as to whether schools down there will be back in session.
We are from NJ, but I believe they start back w/in the last 2 weeks of August.
We will be starting back to school after labor day, which in 09, is really late..
2nd week in SEPT. and coincides a week AFTER w FREE DINING time.
WOO HOO .
We so plan to be there for THAT.
I am also from NY and looking at the calendar, it looks like we go back really late. I originally thought that we would not make it for free dining but with going back so late this year, it may work well.
Yes, even with free dining starting on 8/23, we can stay for 2 weeks. I love staying that long. Any less and I don't feel like I really had a vacation. I know I am spoiled but I really don't ask for much else.
Here in Michigan, school also starts the day after Labor Day. I called the State Education office to make sure that school would still start the day after Labor Day since it was so late in the month. I was told "Yes"!!!
Just bumping it up. We're at the Poly for 7 nights from 23rd August. Seeing as the pound seems to be in freefall against the dollar, a good rate is even more importa
Just wondering if there is anyone else out there going the last week of August 2009... We have 1 child a 9 year old girl. We would love to bring a friend but we will be there almost 10 days so that is too long for most kids that age..
Those are our dates...last week of August or first week of Sept.
My dd is 9. We recently lost her father, so I am sure she would LOVE to hang w your dd!!
Haven't booked yet, but pretty sure those will be our dates. =)

You and your DD will have a fabulous time! WDW at Christmastime is AMAZING!!! The weather is cooler than in the summer and the decorations are beautiful.
Just be prepared for quickly changing weather. Last year we went in December. When I got on in line for Splash Mountain, it was cool but sunny. When I got off (soaking wet!) the sun had set and the temperature had dropped significantly!!!! I ended up buying a sweatshirt to keep warm. The good news is I got really cute Pooh sweatshirt out of the deal
My daughter and I took my 4 and 9yr. old grandaughters and we had plenty of time to see the parks and to relax by the pools. We were there for 10 days in early october last year. It was great!
