Day 4
8/25/06
EPCOT!!!

Alright, today was just a good normal day at EPCOT. We had 6:20 ADR's at Coral Reef and there was evening EMH until midnight. The morning was really wacky. I made a wake up call for 7 because the park opened at 9. We recieved the call at 7, and for some reason, I just picked it up, hung it up, and went back to sleep. I vividly remember me muttering a curse word, hanging up, and going back to sleep. So at 9:17, I wake up, walk to the bathroom, and wonder to myself, "Why is it so light outside". I look at the clock, ITS 9:17! I shout to everyone WAKE UP!!! I was so angry because I had planned out a whole system for when the park opened that DS and I would do Test Track and DM would get us Soarin fastpasses. So after I get yelled at for waking them up, we rush to get dressed and shove down some crossionts for breakfast. We get outside to find a HUGE line for Epcot, but no line for the MK bus. So because of my incredibly talented and intelligent mind, we hopped on with no problem, and from MK took the monorail to the TTC, and the monorail to Epcot. This whole process took about 35 minutes, and it was relaxing. Once at EPCOT, we headed towards Soarin and got fastpasses to come back at 1:30-2:30. The posted wait time was 60 minutes, so we decided to wait it out. We probably got on in about 35 minutes because the line moved very fast and we just talked about the upcoming days and the ride we were about to experience. My DM HATES anything that goes fast, moves sideways, or anything that will make her sick or dizzy. She went on HM once and almost got sick on the backwards part. SHES THAT BAD! So I had told her that TONS of people on the DIS said that Soarin won't make you sick at all. She has a small fear of hights, but I ensured her that nothing is real. Also on the line we met a few families who ensured her that she would be fine. So we get to the loading dock, and while watching the corny video she finds that sign that says "Soarin contains high speed drops, and anyone prone to motion sickness should NOT ride". She immidiently said no way, no way am I doing this. A CM encoureged her to do it, but he did say that people have come off sick. So we get on the ride WITHOUT DM. The ride was AMAZING. The sights, smells, view, every component of the ride was perfectly planned and it was just an incredible expericene. Once off, we ensured DM that it was fine and she would have been perfectly OK. She still doesn't believe us. So afterwards we looked to get a quick snack for lunch. We picked up 2 hot pretzels, a frozen banana, and 2 sodas for all of us (all free!). After, we were walking to Ellen's Energy Adventure. DM IS IN LOVE WITH THIS! But as we pass MS, we find that the more intense training has a 10 minute wait! This is incredible considering I have waited 80 minutes during the same part of the year. So I make DM go on line with us (she loves Gary Sinese). Once she chickened out and went to the exit, DS and I got on. I was the pilot, and she was the commander. For some reason, it took them about 5 minutes to close all of the cars and I sat there jiggling with the buttons. Once we started, the launch was REALLY intense, worse than I remember. It felt like my chest was being sucked in, and I felt like my body was going to collapse into itself. IT WAS AWSOME!!! :rotfl2: But once the launch is over, the rest is fine, and I got off pretty woozy. It was nice to just get on Ellen and have a few laughs and relax. Once that was over, we had to rush over to Soarin to ride with our Fastpasses. Once again, DM wouldn't ride. She said MAYBE later that night during EMH, so we just rode alone again. Afterwards, I told DM that I really wanted to experince Turtle Talk with Crush. After waiting a VERY long time, we got in. I must say, it was very cute. It was exremely well made, and just another example of Disney magic. Afterwards, we headed over to Hunny I Shrunk the Audience to just waste time during dinner. It was ok. Kinda boring and i've outgrown it a drop. Finally its time to go to dinner. We got to Coral Reef about 10 minutes early to request a tank seat. I have heard that a seat next to the tank is really worth it and we were in no rush. So after about 25 minutes of waiting, Carroll came over and took us to our table. He was an elderly man who was as nice as could be. He asked us where we were from, and when we said Long Island, he told us he lived in Flushing, Queens, down the block from SHEA STADIUM (where the NY Mets play). So after a 20 minute discussion about the Mets, he seated us. We sat down and ordered, and to our delight, we were seated at a table directly in the middle on the tank. I got the steak, my DS got the Ravioli, and I can't recall what DM got. While we were waiting for our food, some divers came by and I snapped some pics:

The food was ok. My steak was small but good, my DS devoured her ravioli in about 2 seconds, and I can't recall what DM got, but she was unsatisfyed. For dessert, DM and I both got the 50th Celebration Dessert which was DELICIOUS! Very good. DS got chocolate cake which was good. Overall, the food was ok. It was a beautiful resteraunt, but it was WAY too overrated and I could have lived without eating there. It was very expensive (not that it mattered), and I probably wouldn't go there for dinner unless on free dining again. There are so many better options on the World Showcase, so I regret not eating there.

ANYWAY, when we got out it was about 8, just time to get a spot for Illuminations. We were searching and searching until we found a little pathway in England that led to a couple of benches and some gardens. We got a seat right on a fence with a perfect view of the lagoon. DM has some back problems, and she wanted to get a seat. Since she's not a huge fireworks fan, she wanted to do Soarin while we saw the fireworks. I thought that was a great idea, and we made up to meet her at the American Adventure at 9:15, when it was starting at 9:45. So we're waiting and waiting for Illuminations to start and FINALLY all of the fire goes out and it become dark and quiet. Then, IMO, Disney's number one nightime spectacular began. Here are some pics:

It was great! So afterwards, we lingered in England, looking around some shops and chilling out. I get a call from DM saying that she just got out of Soarin, but it will take her a while to get to America :rotfl2: because of the crouds exiting the park. So finally after lingering in America we meet up with her. And guess what? SHE LOVED SOARIN! DS and I took advantage of shouting "TOLDYA SO!!!". So we went into the American Adventure, which was a first for me. Being an American history buff, I thought that this show was an absolute delight and a spectacular display of patriotism. It was amazing how the audio anamatronics kept comping up from above the stage, and on the way out I asked DM what she thought of how they did it and a CM wispered to me that I should meet him outside and he would tell. So outside, he told me that there is some kind of a carousel under the audience that keeps rotating the figures. He said that it is the coolest thing at WDW. Afterwards, we headed back around the World Showcase towards Test Track. We stoped at the "Outpost" country, and DS got a DELICIOUS strawberry "slurpee" type drink. It was so sweet and delicious. Then, while we were passing through Norway, the bakery caught my eye. This place had been reccomended to me many times, so I had to go in. EVERYTHING LOOKED GREAT! So I decided to get a homeade Belgium waffle type dessert with homeade jelly on top. YUM! Now it was getting late, about 11 ish. Since we hadn't done TT once that day, we had to go. The wait time was 45 minutes. DS and I wanted to go on, but DM was dead tired. She decided to go back to the resort and we'd meet us there. So finally after a 45 minute wait, we got on TT at night! It was cool, but for some reason the ride felt SO MUCH SLOWER when doing the hairpin turns. I guess I am just outgrowing the speed. So we finally get back to the busses at about midnight and got on a crouded bus. We were all tired, but our bus driver Rudy was an absolute delight. He told us about his days as an imagineer and an engineer, and how he wanted to stay close to Disney, so he may as well drive around the parks all day! We played trivia and he asked 3 questions: What does Epcot stand for? (Everyone got it), Who is the main charecter of the movie Song of the South, and what popular ride was based on it? (I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO SAY UNCLE REAMUS! AND SPLASH MOUNTAIN!) He was impressed. The last question: What is Cinderella's last name? (It took me a minute, but I remember someone on the Dis mentioning it.) So I got that too, and told me that I was the king WDW trivia for the night! It was alot of fun and passed the time on the bus. He will be recieving a letter from me about how great he was. Anyway, we got back to POP and collapsed onto the bed after a long day. It was great fun, and we had a good time.
