Hi Suzanne,
Congrats on the new baby, is there anything more wonderful ?! As for the cabin...you've said on another thread that Ryleigh doesn't care much for the characters...what does she like best about the cruise ? Can this be duplicated on another line ? Would she like a Club Med beach vacation just as well ? I have to tell you I've been worried about her, not that it is my place...there are only five shore days, so she'll only be able to play in the water on those days...and I keep thinking of how hot that stroller would be...my DS always had a wet back when he was in his carseat. My DS is ASD, so I understand about wanting to do wonderful things to make up for all that our children can't do...and while you've said that Ryleigh is nonverbal, that doesn't mean that she doesn't communicate...what does she think ? If she wants the cruise I guess you spend the money...as all of us with special needs kids do. My DH is enlisted AF, I stayed home for years with DS, and somehow you make it work. Parents of normal children have no idea !!! My DH was E4 and we were paying $900/month for speech and $450/month for behavioral services (this was 1994)...talk about debt !!! And it is not over yet...DS has an appt in August which will cost another $5000 that isn't covered by insurance. I would talk to Ryleigh about it, think about the baby , and then make a decision. This thread gives a huge amount of importance to this cruise, but in the end it is just a trip. You have a wonderful new baby to think about, and a daughter that brings you joy...that is as good as it gets.
