I really want to go to the signing, but I am afraid I won't get to see him. If I hop in the shower now, I should be able to get there in time, it starts at 10am.

Okay -- being totally honest -- I am NOT a member of AAA -- since I have almost, absolutely no use for it -- only drive my car a couple of days - 1 mile commute to work (honestly) and my nephew knows car repair and used to work in the tow business - so he can have his friends tow my car if needed.

Now -- my SIL in CA -- does has AAA (and besides in NY you can't get DL tickets). This is what she emailed me:

The tickets outside of a full travel package are called "Passport Plus" and they are the same as the price at the door of the part, with the addition of free parking, preferred seating at the California adventure shows, and $10 in game tokens. There is no unlimited fast pass - you have to stay at one of the Disney properties for that.

If she gets the tickets for me - and mails them to me (we are trying to get them to met us down there for the couple of days before the cruise -but work schedules may not allow it).... will they ask me for an AAA member ID card when I use the passes? I don't need the parking pass - no car this trip - but I am wondering how many shows does CA have ? I also noticed they don't give you early entry - like the reg. 3 day park hoppers do.

Any advice from the fools in CA would be appreciated

Thank you all so very, very much for all of your prayers, pixie dust, well wishes, good thoughts, etc. that you have sent to me and my family, especially my MIL Evelyn and my SIL Susan.

MIL was able to walk a little and eat yesterday. Today is her follow-up surgical procedure, so we will see how things are going so far.

SIL is continuing to move forward. She even called me late yesterday asking for info about the cruise, flights, cabin changes, etc. Glad to see that the cruise is on her mind amidst her turmoil.

Talked to my wonderful TA Dana of Cruise Planners. MIL & SIL's "Oh My Gosh" date is June 10th, so there is a little bit of time yet for them to decide if they are going or not. Critical for my SIL by that date is getting in hand a notarized letter from her DH allowing her to take the kids out of the country. I hope, I hope, I hope!!!

Again, thank you for everything. Most importantly your friendship!!

I just heard from Melinda. She is leaving to go to the hospital now. Her MIL's kidneys are shutting down. They don't expect her to make it through the day. Will keep everyone posted as I hear things.

Hi Erica,

I have never been checked for any ID at DL/DCA other than our photo APs. That being said, we do not use our AAA there. When we take friends with hoppers, they never check the ID. I really do not think it will be a problem. I'd ask your SIL to find out if the tickets have her name/membership # on them, or if they are just generic. Perhaps she could ask if she can buy tickets for others as a gift. If they say yes, you know that the tickets are generic and can be used by anyone. If they say no they are only for member use, then you'd know there is the possibility of a problem.

If members can purchase these for other people, I'd be happy to do this at AAA for everyone (our SOF friends) as long as they would allow me to purchase them. Don't know if they have a limit. I'd just need a SASE. Let me know everyone if you are interested.

Today is such a sad day for our friends Mel, Bob and their family. My heart sunk when I read Tracy's update. I just can't imagine what they are going through right now.

Yes, it was William Jefferson Clinton. I got to the store at about 9:20, bought the book (full price!) and got in line at 9:30. Got my wrist band. Talked to a very nice guy for an hour in line, and finally, about 12:10, I got to shake hands with him and he signed the book. There were 2 men in front of me, they asked him something about the current state of the ecomomy, he took the time to talk with them. He is very passionate about how the economy is doing. I was very glad I decided to do it. He was only there till 12:30, I think he decided to stay longer as he did 500 signings (sorry kmiles, only one book per person) and there were still atleast 200 more people waiting. I will bring the book on the cruise.

Now to have lunch and regroup.
