Oh--and I know it's off topic--but what isn't on this thread?? LOL
Anyway--have a 3 hour consultation/exam on April 18th for LASIK!! If all goes well will get it done that day or the 19th!!! No more contacts!!!!! So since I've been a contact lens wearer for 18 years--I have to go 4 weeks with glasses to make sure the exam is as accurate as possible!! I can't wait! :cool1:

It is a major hoot to be in the laser room when they finish and the patients can see things they have never seen without glasses. Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck.

Thank you sweetheart Dan!!! :love1:

Hi all - and welcome to Makorin and NanaKaty from part of the British contingent. The Ship of Fools takes on more and more of a global feel.

We've been off the air for Easter - five friends staying so all rooms in use, including the office - and anyway, you're supposed to be sociable when folk stay, aren't you?

Weather wise we had a mixed Easter - started warm and sunny, but when our friends arrived, the weather closed down - foggy, cold and damp until late this morning when they were getting ready to head back to England. But we still managed to get out and about and experience the various aspects of the island - including some pretty darned high spray from the waves at the seafront - salt water does wonders to a car that's just been washed and waxed!!! But the one thing we can say is that yellow is the colour of spring - I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but it's just daffodils evrywhere - very very pretty.

Absolutely lovely having friends to stay - especially when they are old friends - but it is nice to have the house back to yourselves at the end. We have two cats, Mac and Mabel, and poor old Mabel was a nervous wreck while they were here - she would hide away in our bedroom all day- she's an old cat and we believe she had been badly treated before we adopted her, so she does show her nerves whenever there are strange folk around.

But now, we're starting to really focus on TSOF - DD says almost every day that she just can't wait to get on the cruise. She's suffered a lot this winter from colds and sickness and wants the feel of the sun on her bones.

T-shirts have been the order of the day here - have got Survivor shirts, ordered sisterhood, and now have logo files for the pin and BTMH designs (thanks to Marsha and Andy), so will be ordering those soon.

I offered to commission a Ship of Fools wrist band - have a few names - will be ordering in a R/W/B combination - so any more takers pls let me know.

OK - that'll do for now - enjoyed catching up on the last 15 pages, jokes, ailments, trips etc.

See y'all real soon.

Cheers

Allan

Thanks to Dan and Scott fr posting the "Twiced Charmed" info on the WB thread.

Us guinea pigs appreciate all the info we can get. I am sure we will be sharing our experiences with ya all.

As far as pin payment, Susan has offered to accept Money Orders directly to her PO box, that will be in the newsletter (Tracy, please check your home email for paypal info). I will be sending her the money directly, and then will get my one pin (big spender) at the HISP. No need for shipping.

I will be doing the post office weighing for the lanyards on Thursday, so all of y'all watch for my PM this weekend as to how you will pay, and how you will get your lanyards.

Amanda, I hope your consult for Lasik goes as you want. I have not bad vision, so it isn't anything I would consider, but I do know that is is a Godsend for many.

I hope the ground dries out some this weekend, I have bulbs in storage that I would like to plant, so that they will be up intime for spring.

Thanks for the info on the new show.

I just ordered our DL tickets! Yippeee!!!! They are on sale until April 28th.

Hey Arlene just in case you haven't looked lately, the flight we have booked from Orlando back to Toronto has 3 seats left at $367.83 per person and then the next lowest fare is $675.83. These prices are taxes in!!!!
Glad we both booked early :cool1:

Cheers,
Grumbo

This is an edit of my post. :badpc: Well, AOL just messed up my post and kicked me off. I was posting a quote from someone a few pages ago about her not knowing how to do pay pal. I don't know how to either. :confused3 Don't feel bad. I would just like to send a payment to whomever and have it mailed to me also.

Denine, how much was the DL tickets?? We are now thinking about going because we are getting in so early in the morning.

not sure what tickets you bought, but generally tickets that are on sale at DL have an expiration date. I know there were some that expired on april 28th. I would check to make sure your tickets do not have an expiration date.

Thanks for the update! However, there may be five seats going back into inventory for this flight. Yep! Martin is now re-thinking rushing home on Sunday to get ready for school and wants to re-book for Monday's noon flight! Since we're already there, he wants to have a "full" day to enjoy at WDW rather than getting to a park at noon and flying home the next day. Lara of course is all for this change-of-plan! :teeth: We've flown home on Labour Day before, I'm still thinking about it ...

Arlene

Can you switch without getting hammered with a penalty?
I didn't think Air Canada especially would let you.
That flight is up to about $225 taxes in per person. Still an appreciable increase in price for the 5th.
Good luck though. I want the Monday to prepare for school and work on Tuesday. Think we'd be totally whacked trying to get everything unpacked, washed etc not getting home til 7 pm on Monday evening :) Three weeks plus away from home is a long while :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I agree with Donna!! The ones that are on sale until April 28th are the ones that can only be used up til April 28th, meaning visiting the parks by April 28th!!
I already checked into this!!!!

Thanks Dee--the only question I have is what the cost will be?!!!! I know I have to wait to see my exact price after the consultation--but I wish my Dr. could do a best case/worst case ballpark range!! Just so I am prepared. But I understand why they don't.....

Thanks Marsha and Tracy for being happy for me!! It'll be nice to one day swim in a pool and not have to shut my eyes when I go under!!! Or to wake up in the middle of the night when Addison is upset and not have to scramble for my glasses!!!!!

The weirdest part will be the fact that I have worn Royal Blue contacts over my light blue eyes for 18 years--making them very dark blue!! Even these last few days with my glasses on continually--I feel like I look totally different!

Oh well! I like the trade-off!
TTFN!!

That's what makes it so much fun!LOL

With DVC I get to do all the laundry at WDW and enjoy the last bit before it's back to reality and whatever else may await my return! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Arlene, if you guys leave on Monday, we could probably get the same flight!LOL

Ship of Fools Sisterhood will continue onto Toronto!

Hi all,

Planning to go to IOA on the Saturday we return from the cruise. This is for ds who is not a Disney nut like the rest of us, sigh... We fly home on Sunday (need to get home for work/school on Tuesday).

What is the earliest you think we could arrange for a shuttle to pick us up? We plan to skip breakfast and get off the ship ASAP.

(Right now we have a rental car reserved at Budget, but do not think we'll be able to get a car with the luggage space we need for the drive from Port Canaveral to Orlando. We currently have a large luxury car reserved at a great price, because we need luggage space! Had to upgrade on our 7 day DCL last June due to this fact, and this cruise is even longer. Per Mark, you do not always get the car you want from Budget, and we just cannot take that chance.)

TIA!

Barbara

I checked our airline ressies today and we are now leaving from MCO twenty two minutes earlier than first scheduled. We're on a nonstop flight on American from MCO to LAX.

I am going to check more often now, as if they make a plane change, I want specific seats for our family.

Just an FYI for everyone.

Barbara

Barb,
It seems to me the earliest they start letting people off the ship is about 8am. I do know it varies if there are any issues with customs. If you get off among the first, picking up baggage and getting out the door is just a few minutes...even quicker with a porter's help.

We had to get off early one time and ate at Topsiders. It opens early, and they advertise it as a Continental Breakfast but they had scrambled eggs and bacon plus continental stuff. We managed to eat and get off the ship quickly

It may be that there is a welcome home party when we get into port. I am not counting on it, but you never know.

Where is everyone? Aren't we chatting tonight (officially)?

Tracy
