Could those folks who have requested bus service to MCO after the cruise PM me their departing airline and departure times. The airline info is to see which side of the airport you'll need to be dropped off at and the time is to coordinate the bus leaving the port and to make sure that those with earlier departures leave as early as possible.

Those intending to continue their already long vacation plans might want to take the bus to MCO for a car rental. The rates to pick-up and return to MCO is about 1/2 the cost of rentals from the port and dropping off at MCO.

Possible Bus To MCO after cruise-Update

Are there any more people interested yet?? Our total so far is 87, and there is room for 55 per bus or 110 passengers in total.

If we use Mears Transportation and manage to fill the bus (capacity 55) the final cost will be $7.29 per person. If bus leaves the Port by 10:00am or so, it should put us at Orlando Airport by 11:00am. Cost for bus is 401.25 and tip is included as per my contact. Departing Airline is needed to make sure you are dropped off at correct side of terminal.

Some people have mentioned the bus times seem a little late. We can make our pick up time anytime we want and if we have 2 buses they can have different pick up times. Those with earlier flights will be put onto the earlier bus regardless of which bus you are now set for.

Don't forget to get everything to me as soon as possible. I want to put out the newsletter on Sunday night or Monday. Additions include the pins/medalions, lunch, group photo, sail away party, meet in DL, Budget shuttle to port, dancing group, cafepress, mat. If anyone wants to put in a message to their valentine, send it along. If I can find my list of birthdays onboard, I'll include that too. Other ideas?

Tracy :lovestruc

Hey Bucko!!- I'll have you know that I post this list every 100 post at minimum, or when a few new people sign up, or when I'm bored!! Other then that I'd be happy to assisst your JGE spamming...eh information services any time you need.

I've reserved the 2nd bus. We have room for 23 more people. Grumbo, would JGE like to purchase the remaining seats for resale at the port at their usual 200% mark-up?...Mark

Watch it Mark!!! Jazz and I have been considering giving Melinda your home phone number along with your cell number so you'll always be "in touch" :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Made a payment on the cruise :cool1: Verified some additional information that slipped in my question concerning room # vs. GTY status  .

No room number yet -- they did say it would be closer to the sail date -- I'm hoping for a room number at the 50 day mark (by then all cancellations will be in). :goodvibes

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW??
That's not a problem. Melinda is a fine friend and we'd be lucky to have any of the sisterhood keeping in touch with us...Mark

AARRGG!!- those darn puppets again!!

Has anyone seen the new FedEx commercial? The scene takes place in a job counselors office as a pirate, complete with hook hand and parrot on shoulder, is repeatedly asked questions to which his answers are always, "AARRGG!!". The counselor tells him he'd be perfect for a shipping job that uses FedEx. Made me think of this bunch...Mark

I have two Valentines for the newsletter. Come on everyone, you must have something sweet to say to your Valentines that you're willing to share with your DIS friends!

Here's a little something I found on the net and something that few of us in the U.S. have probably thought about. Just found it to be interesting.

From the right in the pocketbook department: The weak dollar versus the euro doesn't only affect ship orders or the price of your next cruise in Europe. European crew members of US-based lines are also caught in the pinch. Their contracts are denominated in dollars, and they are paid (salary and tips) in dollars, which is ok if they are spending some of that money while they are working. But when they go home to Europe, or send money home, they report they are taking a major hit on the exchange rate and ending up with a lot less "real" money. Unless the exchange rate improves, things won't even get any better when the ships go to Europe this summer, because they will still be paid and tipped in dollars. Ouch.

Susan, I talked with Janis a couple of days ago and she will be at Disneyland for about 5 days. So.....don't expect an answer real soon. I, too, called the hotel direct and was told about the continental breakfast. Guess it just depends on who you talk to. Since I didn't hear from Janis for about a week I booked on my own and come to find out Janis booked a room for us too. Therefore we have TWO rooms. Not bad for a hotel that is saying there is a waiting list!

Bonnie, ya right. This is the last time you book at the last minute. Not in my lifetime! I recall two cruises so far that you did this. Just remember in 07 to book EARLY!!

And another very good FYI:

From the be prepared department: When you go ashore, and you are doing more than just walking into town, or going on one of the ship's excursions - like taking a taxi to an uncrowded beach or going off on your own excursion - be sure to take the ship's port agent's phone number with you. If you should run into some delay getting back to the ship, or some other kind of trouble, you'll at least be able to contact the ship and tell them where you are. There's of course no guarantee the ship will wait for you, but if you can tell them where you are and they see that you'll be there within minutes of sailing time, the ship can make a decision about waiting for you. If they have no idea where you are at sailing time, they won't have anything to consider and will just go ahead and leave.

If you take a Personal Navagator with you ashore then you'll always have the ship's local agent. They always print it on the back page of port days.

Jazzman, I was reviewing the last headcount while updating the newsletter. Surprisingly, we gained one person of unknown sex and we have 2 less males and 2 more females. Did two of our men have a recent surgical procedure, if you know what I mean?

I think two of the guys must have recently got married ;)

Tracy :rotfl2:

I have asked questions regarding the sex of the cruise population, but to be honest the whole gender thing has been wrought with misconception, downright fraud, and simple mistakes.

I have a mental picture of someone standing there, looking down their pants and singing "What kind of Fool am I?"
