So sorry to hear about Sophie. Now she can be at peace and her family can get started at the long road to recovery. You will never forget those lost, but will grow stronger as time goes by.

Everyone should make sure to go to the cruise board to read the post from the family telling of Sophie's death. I hope when my time comes to say difficult goodbye's that I can do it with such grace.

Such sad news. I know that the family has gone through so much. So many people were hoping and praying for a different outcome, yet this is what was meant to be. Those of you with faith will surely believe that Sophie is now back in her mother's loving arms, and her sister will be able to help care for her once again.

Lynda, Mike and David, keep your memories in your hearts. May they ease the pain.

Amanda, thank you very much for letting us know you are all AOK. So sorry you had to go through the difficult time with Frances. It must have been very tough to wait all those days, to loose power for so long, and to have your businesses closed for that many days. Prayers to you and all your family (izzinmac too) as the days follow. Prayers also for your family who may experience Ivan, we pray not.

Belated reply to you. Really very sorry for the loss of your dh's job after all these years. That is horrible to have happened, it is a warning to all of us - it could happen to anyone, but it should not! That is just crummy... Sure wish you were on the cruise with us, but totally understand your priorities. Wishing you new life experiences with financial security in the days ahead. Our prayers are with you.

I was "mandatory flexed" this AM so I am sitting home with not much to do but when the census goes down they start flexing. You can't refuse a mandatory flex but I sure didn't want to use my PTO time to sit home! I can't afford NOT to put in the PTO time.

??? sorry for being dumb, but what's a "mandatory flex"? Doesn't sound fun (especially if you're not getting paid to do it!!!)

BTW - have you noticed that "Tropical Depression #11" has now been named after DudetteTwo - "Jeanne"! Let's hope your namesake fizzles somewhere far out at sea before it messes with any more places or people's cruises.

I just shake my head at the irony that we're going to be cruising during "hurricane season" next year and, with Frances' timing, we could extend our cruise with ... more sea days!

Good thing I like just sailing and being lazy!

ARLENE: "Mandatory flex" is what happens when the census (amount of patients) goes down & there are too many nurses scheduled to work so (on a rotating basis) someone is told not to stay home. That is a mandatory flex.

Jeanne, I hated that about NJ, the mandatory OT and "flex"/ stay home. I wound wind up burning out one week and not work the next.
It's so much better in Florida, at least as far as the scheduling is concerned. NJ needs to catch up to the rest of the country and figure out fair scheduling for nurses/ medical staff

Here I wait for Ivan. He is going to make land fall about 50 miles from us. I will be by the computer all day tommorow. We will try to pretend that we are in our inside cabin with all the windows boarded up. On the bright side we made our pre-cruise res yesterday. We are staying at the Candy Cane Inn from Thursday till Sat.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of Ivan. Take care and know we are thinking of you. Let us know as soon as you can how you are.

We, too, made our reservations for next year. We are flying into Las Vegas on Friday 8/12 and staying at Luxor until Monday, 8/15. Then on to L.A. and staying at Anabella Inn until Saturday. Can't believe it's already less than a year! Now we're just keeping an eye on airfares.
