I agree that a white shirt, black pants, black vest, eye patch and bandana would work great. I think I'll just check out the offering at the Halloween outlet. In fact, I think my boss might have been Captain Hook at a Halloween party himself and maybe he'd be willing to lend us the outfit. The only problem: takes up space in the old suitcase. I've got to consider that as well.

Although I'd like to explore Panama, I really feel I want to be on the ship to go through the locks and all. I can always go back down to explore the area at another time although it's a very remote possibility. Decisions, decisions, decisions !!!! And only 8 months to figure it all out !!!!! :scratchin

I really want to see the DCL on Travel Channel tonight. It might be the same old thing, but who cares!

I would LOVE to be at Animal Kingdom now. I could use a little theme park action about now. :cool1:

Gee, it's pretty quiet here this afternoon from the men. I wonder what they all think about the "pirate" wardrobe idea.

I just noticed how close I am to becoming page 500. I wonder if this reply will do it?

:jumping4: :rockband: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: YES, IT DID IT. PAGE 500 OF THE SHIP OF FOOLS THREAD.

As you can tell, I'm easily entertained this afternoon.

Welcome back Paul and Andrew! Hope you both had lovely holidays with your families! Paul, I saw a photo of your pretty wife on one of the 10 day trip reports, so where are you?!

Arlene, you must be an awesome cook and hostess to have a party like that! I have learned to make sushi at a friend's party years ago, but that's the extent of my Japanese cooking. We LOVE Japanese food, and have a great restaurant here that we frequent. I'm proud of you Sister!

Beautiful photo of your children Mel!!!

Back to work tomorrow...oh well, dreams of our Cruise fill my mind! I'm with Val, I don't want it to come too soon though or it will be over. :(

Happy first week of January, 2005!!!

Barbara (PS YEAH Lynn to the 500 page mark!!!)

I agree Lynn! I want to do both things at once! :(

How will I ever decide! Of course, Disney may not even offer the option of allowing guests to get off. I guess that would make my decision much easier, huh? ;)

I thought "sushi" actually meant "vinegar rice" or something like that???

Arlene! We need some clarification! :Pinkbounc

I'm curious about something. I just noticed that the 10 Day Holiday thread has over 24,000+ posts!!! We haven't even topped 8,000 yet. Even considering the fact that they started there thread much sooner than we did, how did they reach such high post counts???

Talk about a lot of sore fingers and worn out keyboards! :)

 Thanks, Barbara. I was happy with the way everything turned out yesterday, but had to grit-my-teeth smile at one point! After starting preparations for this on TUESDAY (special trip to shop for Japanese ingredients) and cooking since Thursday, Martin's cousin gave his sister all kinds of praise for the Japanese new year's vegetable tray and salad she had prepared, and Martin for how hard he was working "slaving away making all the tempura!" which has to be cooked at the end once the guests have arrived. Then she looked at me, and said "and you've been busy too - it's so much work to get the house ready and then you'll have to clean everything up tomorrow!"  There's stereotyping for you - since I'm English blonde, she assumed I didn't actually do any of the cooking!!! I managed to smile sweetly, and leave the room quietly without comment, but "the look" I gave Martin spoke volumes!

Next year, I get to prepare Christmas Dinner, and leave New Year's to my sister-in-law! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Melinda - that picture of your kids is just awesome! Thanks for posting the link to the 10-day cruiser's trip report. It sounds like they found plenty to do (and could probably have used the extra four days that we're getting!)

I wonder how they managed to arrange the DIS Brunch at Palo??? I'll need to figure that out for our "Sisters' Tea"!

I agree about not rushing the year away (this planning is just too much fun!) but I'd be happy to skip the "Great White North" winter!

Back to "real-life" tomorrow - work and Gymnastics class for Lara. She's excited about going back, so I'll just let her enjoy it without reminding her about watching her fingers!

You are exactly right, kmiles! Most people fail to make the distinction, though, and assume that "sushi" means raw fish. There are actually many different kinds of sushi, and nigiri-sushi is the one with raw fish. On it's own, the sliced fish is called "sashimi".

We served maki-sushi, which contains vegetables rolled inside the rice and seaweed, inari-sushi, which is actually seasoned bean-curd pouches filled with vinegared rice, nigiri sushi (with the raw fish topping) and sashimi slices of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and broiled eel. We even served just the vinegared rice, formed into pretty shapes with nothing else added!

Gotta say, the "sushi" on DCL just doesn't cut it for us! :D
