Hello all!

New to the board and first post. We are on for our 4th and our DD's 2nd. Birthday cruise for the Mrs. and a much needed trip back home to Fla! We have a 04D on deck 6. How many total cabins so far from the DISboard are confirmed? It should be a great cruise!

Robert

On post 112, jham was kind enough to get the list of everyone together:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=40519098&postcount=112

If we're missing anyone, maybe they can copy/update?

We should start talking about a DIS meet after we get on the ship. I think the BCV and BWV folks are meeting on the 1st (maybe at the Boardwalk?). I read that there may be a Poly meet too.

I think we should also set up time for everyone to get together and meet in person... maybe after the sail away party?

On my last cruise, we all tried to wear tags on our bags or person that called us out as DIS people from the thread. We all had Green Mickey heads attached to ourselves. I put mine (laminated) on my camera bag. That way, we couldn't miss each other.

How about at Currents (Deck 13 Forward) directly after sail-away party?

I agree we need to set up a DIS meet. The only issue I see with having it after the sail-away party is some people are rushing off to get ready for dinner. We usually like to watch us sail out past the jetty and then head down to get ready for our show and dinner. On previous cruises we have had a meet around 2 or 3pm in one of the lounges. It really does not matter to me. I am up for whatever time everyone else agrees on.

I will try to organize a meet for those staying at WDW before the cruise. I can help organize a DIS meet on embarkation day too if someone wants to take it on.

I will keep track in this post until joksten2000 comes around and can copy and paste it into the first post. If you would like to add/delete/change/fix anything just post and I'll try to keep it updated until joksten2000 takes over. I tried to keep to people who said they had already booked. I'm sure I missed all kinds of information! Just shout out if I missed you.

My problem is, I am taking Disney transportation from BCV and I can't control the time I arrive.

What about RIGHT BEFORE the sail away party?

We are among the crazy people who prefer the late seating too.

We could try right before the sail away party, but the lifeboat drill is right before that so I don't know if we would have time for a meet. I usually send others back to the cabin with our life jackets and go stake a spot for the sail away party. We don't have to do life jackets any more but I am sure I will leave the drill and head up to find a spot for the party. Since we don't have young ones we usually watch the party from deck 10 (Magic and Wonder). Haven't figured out yet where the best place on the Dream will be.

I think most people will be on board by 2:30 or 3 so we could possibly do a meet right before the lifeboat drill. Maybe we could even plan 2 meets on the first day, one in the afternoon sometime and maybe one later that evening in a lounge or bar(if we do this after 9:30 it will have to be adults only). Don't want to plan too many meets but just trying to find a time that might be good for everyone.

If any of you were lucky enough to rent a cabana at the family beach but is not sure if it is really worth it, because the do not need all the space, we would be most happy to share, we are 3 in our group, me 46, my husband 45 and our little girl 7.

My husband was diagnosed with skin cancer 3 years ago and has to be very careful with the sun.

:worship: and greetings from Switzerland

My husband believes I'm a vampire I burn so easily so maybe we could share...... And our girls are close in age (7 and 9).... Let me know if you find one and I'll discuss with my husband.

Tiffany did ours and she does a great job!

That's good to hear!

We are interested in joining the DIS kick-off meet too. We are also late seating.

I'm especially interested in getting our DS to hook up with the other 16 year old boys, since the rest of us (DH, me, DD) have a cabana in Serenity Bay on the next day, and I wanted DS to have some guys to hang out with, since he can't come with us.

So far I have 5 DIS members participating and their infromation (Adults ages are NOT called out):

I hope to get some more people participating. I've already started shopping and got some cool trinkets for Pirate Night. I'm also considering airline bottles of rum but I know Mike and Jeanne aren't interested.

I love Fish Extender Exchanges. It lets me plan EVEN MORE!:woohoo:

On our last cruise we participated, I got the kids little present bags (like you see when you go to a birthday party). I loved shopping for boys. I have none.

For the adults, we decided you were either "rummy" or not. The adults who chose to participate in rummy got an airline bottle of rum. The different kinds were fun to exchange. If you didn't like Rum, I opted for giving small scented anti-bacterial gel from Bath and Body Works as we were in the midst of the flu that stopped the boats from docking in Mexico so it was happily accepted. We got first aid kits, coloring books, stickers, beads and temporary tattos for pirate night, etc. We also got magnets on our door made especially for the cruise that we have on our fridge to this day. Since we were renewing our vows on that cruise, some gifts were wedding-themed. I even got something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. We gave out invites so everyone could watch us, drink champagne, and eat cake (YUM). I bought a fish extender online (I am NOT CRAFTY AT ALL) but you don't even have to. I'm attaching a photo of ours.
221351FishExtender.jpg
[/IMG]

Inexpensive and fun and I'm only dropping off gifts once. I'm going PIRATE THEMED on this one! Its easy these days to find cool little trinkets for pirate stuff at party stores.

It was a lot of fun to come back to our room almost every day and see PRESENTS. Our DD (6 at the time) was especially pleased.

I've decided to "close" Fish Extender additions 30 days before we set sail. Some people are crafty and need time. Some people are headed down early (like us) and won't be online the week before we set sail (but I bet my blackberry will be on Disboards a bit).

Love the updated FE info! I am crafty and will be making our FE. And I'm just sayin' with such a small number in the FE group that allows me to make cooler gifts...:rolleyes1 It is good to have a general idea so I can get to work! My room is still GTY, hoping with PIF day coming up this week we might get a room assignment.

Can you tell from Chef Mickey picture that Doug and I have on the same shirt and we didn't even call each other. Don't think for one minute that our wives let us live that down. We will coordinate better on this trip. :rotfl2:

you titled this post Disney nerds...Ummm...I'm a tee shirt matching Disney Nerd ON PURPOSE! :lmao:

Yes I am a Disney nerd/nut! Coachycp family and mine got together last night to continue pre cruise plans at WDW. ADR: whispering canyon (anyone have any ketchup?) , mama melrose, le cellier (us) via napoli (coach) ohana. Going to go to typhoon lagoon. Have never been to water parks. Coachycp has so following their lead. Ugh can I leave tomorrow!
:smickey:

Bumping us up since we had fallen to page 3.

Okay - I am trying to figure out a meet time for those of us who will be at WDW before the cruise. It sounds like the 1st will be the best day. I know several people have ADR's for 'Ohana or other restaurants on the 1st. If we don't see Illuminations on Sunday night we will probably drink around the world and watch Illuminations on Monday night. We really don't have any specific plans.

Here are some options I've come up with:

1. Meet at the Poly on the beach or around the pool to watch the fireworks and those that have reservations can hopefully meet us after they get done with dinner.

2. Meet at the lounge at BWV around 9:30 or 10 and just see who shows up.

3. Have an afternoon meet either in a park or by the pool at the BWV.

Anyone have any other suggestions or thoughts?

Now for a DIS meet for embarkation day.

I am hoping once we see navigators from the 5-night cruises we will have a better idea what happens on embarkation day. I have looked at a few 4-night cruise navigators and they have a DVC Member Celebration from 2:30 - 3:30 - which might affect some people(I usually skip this) and they have Bingo at 7:30 which I know we will be at. We love our Bingo. I am use to the longer cruises where we usually have a meet on the first sea day so this is kinda hard to plan.

I am thinking maybe a meet around 2 or 3pm near the family pool(Donald's Pool) on deck 11 - in case we have some that have kids that like to swim on the first day.

We will also be on Deck 12(terminal side which I believe is starboard) for the sail away party - so if any DISers want to meet up there too.

Does anyone else have any thougths or suggestions?

I think we would be up for deck 11 at 2-3. I was a little vague with our details before so here we are:

Rob Misses Fla
DH (me- Robert) 41
DW Christy - Birthday cruise will be 37 on 8/3
DD Emily 9
Rob's brother Phillip 23 - first cruise

We have friends traveling with us on their first DCL cruise.

We've never done door decor or FE's before, but will be doing the door this time and could easily be swayed to an FE as well, but need some more info on that whole deal...

Hi Rob,

If you look back to posts 235 & 238 on page 16 I posted some links that will give you more information on FE's. If you have more questions after that, just ask and hopefully we can help.

We are celebrating birthdays on this cruise too, but none of them will happen while we are on the ship. I will turn 48 on August 9th, DD - Brittany will be 22 on July 27th, and Brittany's boyfriend David will be 23 on August 16th.

we are up for a pre-meet but I will need about 3 hrs to determine what is best as I examine Scooters spreadsheet.

It has flow charts, GPS linking capaibility, longitude and latitude readings etc.:teacher: I have a meeting with some NASA scientist to help me decipher it so I know what I am supposed to be doing and where I am supposed to be...:rotfl2:
