Hi, Disneymom. I just realized your daughter got engaged on my birthday. neat!
Happy belated birthday! My birthday is December 19th, so we're almost birthday buddies.![]()
Many thanks! My son's birthday is between us. Funny how small coincidences go. Some day I may want to ask you about DVC. We have close friends who belong. I'm very tempted, but like everyone else, now is not the time to make a long term committment.
Happy almost Friday!
Hi gang,
I wanted to check who was going and it looks like there are six groups so far.![]()
We look forward to meeting everyone on the cruise. We will be flying in Friday night, July 31st, and our friends, who moved to Florida a couple of years ago, will pick us up and open their home to us for a night. In the morning they will take us to the Disney Magic bright and early.
This will be our third cruise, but our first seven day cruise. We found on the three day cruises we were always on the move and never did get time to relax like we wanted to. This time we will relax and not do as many excursions, maybe just catch the local scenery and shops. After all, how many times can you look at the same fish while snorkling?
I am also looking forward to wine tasting, taking tours of the ship, backstage of the plays, etc. And reading on deck, with a beverage close by, and on the adult side of the fence.![]()
So now the official hello to MrsJobba1, marcij, MsLeFever (good luck this weekend..I do have to root for our brothers in the NFC West as I am a Seattle Seahwak fan and I hold nothing against Pittsburgh fans, or the Steelers), Liltx, and Joycsk.
See you in a few months.
Dave

Hi all,
I'm so sorry I've been away from the boards for the last couple of months - Welcome Dave (scubaD) and your wife. Its great to have more people join out small and exclusive groupLOL - Not sure where you are from but its great to have you (I'm from UK and not too good with USA state initals)
Well its freezing here and I can't wait until our cruise - I really dont like snow! Looking forwad to![]()
I have Pm'd some of you today regarding the PAlo brunch
Do you fancy having a small Dis-meet on embarkation day - possibly 3pm promande lounge? That way we can say hi and put a few faces to names.
I can't believe its less that 6months away - I'm sure the time will fly
We are DVC members since 1999 BWV and SSR
I've updated the info on the first page please check to see if its ok.
This is Dave and myself on our last DCL which was a 2007 med - it seems such a long time ago.
Have fun x![]()

Dear Helen,
FWIW, in case future travelers want to know, my dks are a dd8 and a ds5. I would love for us to set a time to meet, but when is the boat drill? Somehow I thought that was at 3pm. I don't care 2 hoots about the sail away party (which is usually too loud and crowded for my family) but I did plan to hit the pool after lunch since I'd read it wasn't crowded until after the drill.
I feel like I'm babbling. . .
Here's to August - oh, and similar to scubad and disneymom, we are flying in on the 31st but staying at the airport hotel.
Hi Joy,
The boat drill is @4pm and then the sailaway party is 5pm when we leave.
I thought 3pm as most people will be on aboard by then. After the sailaway you are in to dinner times as they begin 5.45. But I'm happy to see what others think - I'll go with the flow so to speak. Any suggestions would be fine with me.
We fly to the states on July18th (which is incidently 159 days) not that I'm counting or anything.
Our last time to the states was in 2006 when Dave and I cruised with Marci. This year in the middle of our holiday we are having 6 days in New york - some where we have always wanted to visit.
This is a dream vacation and I really can't wait.![]()
If 3 pm is good for all, then I'll be there. We can leave Grammy with the kids for a few! As for NY, my parents are big theatre buffs, and even own in the only NY timeshare in existence. If you are interested, I can probably forward any ?? you might have to my Mom. (My Dad would be happy to answer, but he's a professional work-a-holic. My Mom is more officially retired and might have the chance to answer. I don't think I can get her signed into disboards - she only learned email last year - but I can certainly act as a go-between.)
Disneymom8589 and will be on board as soon as the doors open. We would enjoy time with our Disfriends, at any time.
Dave
Hi Joy,
Thanks for the offer. I am so looking forward to NY, it is somewhere we have always wanted to visit. We have made some really good dis friends over the years and we are having a big reunion - we are going for a meal and hopefully see a show on broadway.
Looks like 3pm is good for the meet.
Do you want to do a gift bag exchange? We all bring one gift bag of somthing from where we live and then we exchange it.? Just a thought.
Take care x
I'd been wondering if anyone was going to suggest this. I never noticed fish extenders on our 4 day cruise, but as I've been trolling the board, I've been learning about them. I'm willing if others are. My DH may kill me, for packing "un-needed" items, but I think it sounds like a ton of fun!
This will be our (ScubaD's and my) 3rd cruise, but we've never met up with a Disboards group. We're looking forward to it! Excuse my ignorance, but with the gift exchange, do you bring a gift bag for everyone or just one person? Is there a price limit? My understanding is that we would include things from our home state (or country). Also, what are fish extenders? I've seen them mentioned, but don't know what they are!![]()
Hi Disneymom -
I think we are up to cruise number 6 and have no.7 booked for 2010.
The last 2 cruises we have very lucky as to have met some wonderful dis friends.
The gift bag idea that I prefer (I've done different versions) is that you bring 1 gift bag with about a $10 limit. In it you put something special from your own town / state or with me country. At the dis meet we all bring our bags and we number them. We then draw numbers so we see which bag you get.
The last time I did this I got a gift bag from Montanna -it had 2 jars of jam (one was huckleberry) I think something I'd never heard of. There were some postcards telling me about Montana and a fridge magnet.
Fish Extenders -
The idea (I beleive) about the fish extender is that you hang your FE on the fish outside of your cabin. Prior to getting on the cruise the people who are participating arrange which day they are going to deliver their presents and also draw up a list of cabin numbers. Then on thier particular day they would bring enough presents to deliver and place them in the FE outside the cabin. (FE presents I've seen include glowsticks and choc money on pirate night, pack of cards, pen and little note pads - things that could be useful on the cruise)
see this thread for some pics of FE

Whist I would love to join in the FE I can not justify the space in my luggage. So I will just be doing the gift bag.
Hope that helps abit.
I did 4 cruises before I knew about the Disboards. The 2 cruises I have done with have been very special. I've made some really great friends (who we still correspond with). We've shared a dinner table with them and it was so much better than DCL assigning some one (with being a couple we are assigned to another group / family) It was like sitting down with old friends as we knew a bit about them already. We have main seating this year and if any one wants to join up with us we would welcome it.
Have a great Saturday

Thank you for responding! We would enjoy doing the gift bag exchange! I'm going to think a bit about the FE, although that sounds fun, too!
We also have the main dining and would love to join your table group, if you'd like (and there's room). My DH (ScubaD - Dave) sent you our reservation # via a PM for the Palo brunch. Let me know what you think! It would be fun to meet with other Disers. Both cruises we have been on before were 3 day cruises. The first time we ate with a family of 4 from Michigan and they were lots of fun. The second time, there were a group of 12 of us who went, and Disney was kind enough to let us all sit together, even though they usually only accomodate up to 10 at a table.
The previous post was really mine! The computer was still logged on under DH's screen name!![]()
