August 19 2012 Dream 5 night Cruise!

We just booked this cruise yesterday and it does seem to be rather empty as we were immediately given a mid- ship room on the tenth deck. Anyone have any idea why? I know half the country is back at school but this seems odd though not complaining.

Same here except we are OGT. I could not believe the price and the available rooms.

:dance3:Got ours yesterday also. No cabin # yet. Thanks for keeping us on our toes.

Did you use a travel agent or did you book directly with Disney?

We booked through DCL this time around. Last time we used a TA though and we got them about a week later than the others in the thread ;)

Welcome!! :welcome:
Which category did you book? The ship is pretty empty. I think a lot of past cruisers are trying the new Fantasy this year as last year the Dream was the new ship and this cruise last year (which we were on) was booked solid.
Laurie :)

First time cruiser here, trying to register kids for activities. Went on Disneycruise.com/plan but was unable to register them for any activities. HELP. Trying to get organized.

Re: the FE's are most of you planning to give homemade items? I read the information on FE's & read that some people give 1 gift/family on the list but I was wanting to keep it simple for time/portability reasons.

I booked this cruise for our family way back when ...and then we decided we needed 1 more verandah stateroom (There are 12 of us!). About 3 weeks ago I asked our travel agent to see if another one was available in the same vicinity as the other three that are all in a row. Guess what! The connecting room to one of our rooms was still available. Unbelievable!

The ship might be close to full by the time it sails, but it sure has been slow in filling up. Of course, I'm hoping for a half full ship so things won't be so crowded. Ha! Lots of luck on that one!

Hi!
People give all sorts of things as FE Gifts. Some homemade and elaborate some purchased and simple. It is varied on every cruise. I am personally making homemade gifts this time, one per person. On our Alaska cruise, I made 1 gift per family/cabin. So it is really up to the individual giving them out. FE is all about having fun and exchanging with your fellow cruisers so no matter what you would decide to give it would be appreciated! I had very limited luggage space when we flew to Seattle from NC, so we mailed our FE Gifts to the hotel we were staying at in Seattle. This time around we are driving to the Port so we can really have as much luggage space as we need ;) It makes a big difference on what FE Gifts to do, depending on how much space you have!

Just a little side note: There are 15 days left to sign up for the FE Group for our cruise if anyone else is interested. You can either contact me through a PM to sign up or Post your info in the FE Group Thread for this cruise which I will post a link too! Thanks so much!!

All the kids on the ship are automatically registered for the kid's programs, so you don't need to register the kids for the programs prior to getting to the terminal (actually, you can't register them prior to getting to the terminal). Once you are checked in for the cruise you can go to the desks for the kid's programming to get them signed up and get them their wristbands, or do it once you are on board. No need to worry about "room" in the programs because DCL stops taking reservations for kids when an age group fills up.

Welcome!! :welcome:
In regards to registering the kids online it's just that. Once you register online they will be able to attend any and all activites on ship. When you get to the cruise terminal after you check in on the left hand side all you need to do is check in on the right hand side with all your children and get their Mickey band put on which allows them into their club on ship. They must wear this band the entire cruise in order to be allowed into the club. As for the activities, every night in your stateroom you will receive a Navigator which tells you all the times and activities planned for each day in the kids club. This Navigator will tell you everything that is going on for everyone, kids, adults, seeing characters, movies, everything that is planned for that day will be there. If you have any other questions I'd be glad to help! I hope your families has the best time!! We just love cruisin Disney!!
Happy cruisin', Laurie :)

Ok - so we have a rez for Nov. 8th (3 night) but are about the pull the trigger on this one. The Nov, we could not get any Ocean view and settled for Verandah, but now this one has plenty available and even OGT.

So if we go this route, what could we get? It's 4 (DS15, DS11) of us and they say it could be any Oceanview or Family Oceanview.

Need to call our TA tomorrow to confirm and make the switch, provided we don't loose our deposit there...

It's our first DCL...

Just decided now, in mid-July, what to do for our summer vacation. (I can procrastinate with the best of them  ). I'm so excited now that it's finalized! I'll be sailing with my DH, DS15, DD9, DD7, and our Disney Grandma.

Still no paperwork and no call from our agent :confused3 :(

Welcome aboard what appears to be a very light cruise so far.

I looked at the web site as if to book and all room types seemed available.

Even all of the inside categories. I'm not complaining. A nearly empty Dream would be a dream.

Ok - It's official!!! We are booked for this one and will be our first cruise (well, I cruise on carnival about 30yrs ago once), but a first for DW, DS15 and DS11.

Talked to our TA yesterday and we were only loosing our $25 OBC for the previous res (Nov) since the offer is no longer available and had to be a new res since we were booking OGT.

But today stopped by the office and her manager helped me (TA was out). She called Disney, asked nicely and they did transfer my deposit, kept my $25 OBC and made sure they applied the $50 OBC for the Disney Visa. We had booked thru AAA during their May promo, and now getting a $100 GC instead of the $75 (since the price went up a little bit - old res was for 3 nights). Also getting the $100 photo package so very happy.

Only drawback was I wanted to use about $450 we had on rewards points, and realized our card had expired. Did not want to risk waiting a week to get a new card and chanced of loosing booking under OGT. I guess we'll use them towards extras and souvenirs.

So, count us in!!! We'll be driving from NJ in 4 weeks...

PS - need to change my signature now...
