About ornaments

I am well intentioned and does not mean to offend....I am on the FE list and I bought a lot of (egad)....Hallmark Mickey ornaments to give away for the FE. They're very cute and some people might really love it.

I am wondering whether ,since the FE group seems small, we can just express what each individual FE unit don't want to receive (like Mindy's ornaments or perhaps candies as Vicky mentioned or loud toys or food, silly putty, etc) so that that cabin won't receive said item(s) in their fish extender

Ok, I'll start this off with the comment that I'm not trying to offend or tell anyone what to do, but after reading a thread on the main board I felt like I had to say something. I in no way want to tell anyone what to give for an FE, however, I saw alot of people saying what a great idea ornaments were. I for one, think they are cute, but have no use for them, since I don't celebrate Christmas. I don't know what anyone else persuation is, and I'm one that hates offending people, so I'm suggesting that we stay away from ornament giving. If people disagree with my opinion that's fine..it's just how I feel. I just like to make sure noone gets offended.

On another note, I know my DH has spent a lot of time putting together our FE...it went from something that was, what I thought insignificant, to something amazing that he put a lot of time and thought into and I hope that you all love what he did.

Doesn't bother me at all Mindy, I wouldn't really give ornaments anyway, I think that useful stuff and amusing stuff is more fun, but whatever we get I will be grateful for whether to my taste/beliefs or not. Like Vicky, I will be bringing some sweets (candy), only stuff you can get in the UK (we have liaised to make sure it isn't duplicated!!). A lot of people were saying don't give candy, as the kids get too much, but I must admit, I loved getting little things that we wouldn't have in the UK. But as Vicky says, please do say if this sort of thing is a problem.

I made my own FE too, not being very crafty, I am very proud of it, although it isn't really conventional in the way that the bought ones are, it is 'different' and dd and I had a lot of fun putting it together. I must admit I think it is fantastic that your OH has put yours together, I can't for one moment imagine mine doing anything like that. You have a wonderful man there!!

Got my final FE gifts today, saw a really useful gift for the adults today and it solved my problem of what to get.

Vicky, I hope you got your flight sorted out from Nice, you are so lucky to be able to stay on. If dd wasn't going back to school on the Thursday after we get back, I would be joining you!

I bought a neck pouch today and was curious if others were planning to wear something similar. I am bring a lot of sleeveless shirts (along with sweaters to cover up for the churches) so I don't think the pouch will fit under most shirts. So then I end up wearing it outside my clothing which not sure if that defeats the purpose. :confused3

Three weeks from today we will be taking off from JFK!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

As to your husbands FE gifts...I am sure they are going to amazing. I just hope he doesn't make mine look like doodoo:rotfl:

Lori, Thanks for the heads up on the EMS sale...I bought Dan a pair of those zip offs too!

Hi susie, I have been debating buying one of these as well. Esp for use in Barcelona & Rome. Did you buy the Rick Steves brand or other? You really do not want to wear the neck pouch outside of your clothes. I have friends who were touring Istanbul and the wife's neck pouch was stolen, not sure if cut or otherwise and she lost all documents, cc, cash, etc.
She did not even notice until later but they believe it was on a crowded train.

Don't want to scare you but wanted to let you know of this personal experience I heard of. It also occurs to me that you could still see the neck
straps even if the pouch is under your clothes so as I say I have been debating this purchase.:confused3

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!:wizard:
Shawn

PS All this talk of FE REALLY makes me want to join in :goodvibes
I can imagine the collective groan from all if 3 people are added last minute:laughing: Yes I know there is a deadline:) and about 99% sure we will not join in but sure sounds like fun!

Ok...now I'll show my ignorance...what is a neck pouch?

It is a pocket with a strap that can hold your passport, money and credit cards which you can wear around your neck versus a money belt around your waist.

how interesting, I never heard of that before. I bought a pacsafe fanny pack. You can't cut through it and it has a lock on it.

He came up with it himself...he actually ordered all the FE gifts. When he got the first few I was concerned that they were small and would get lost in the FE's and that's when you all suggested the little bags. Then he came up with this other idea in addition. It is something that is very "him" and you'll know why once you meet him and get it. He's usually a good guy...most people like him better than me...he's definitely the nicer one...as you can see I have a tendency to speak my mind...but you'll always know where you stand with me...some like that and some don't.

There is nothing wrong with being direct! I resemble that comment!! :)

I just ordered my rewards cards (points) from my Disney Visa! It should cover what we've scheduled so far for the spa.....
:cool1::banana::woohoo:

I bought a back pack and money belt from Pacsafe --- the money belt attaches to a belt loop or belt and flips inside DH's pants/shorts....

3 weeks 3 weeks :cool1:

Hi 3girlycruiselover,

Sounds like a good plan:-) We always have a disney tree here:-) As long as everyone is honest and shouts about anything they specifically don't want, then we can all be confident in our giving:-)

Hi Mindy,

Speaking your mind is definately a good thing.

Hi Kate,

Yes flights etc. all sorted, just waiting to see which room we get allocated:goodvibes

Not long now:banana::banana::banana:

Vicky, a work colleague has just got back from Montecarlo and Nice. Said the Airport is literally a short way out of Nice, you could practically walk it.

Buses run every 20 minutes (the 98 and 100), costs 4 euros. Thought it may help with any concerns you have.

I can be a bit blunt too!!! :rotfl: WYSWYG that's me!

Did WK6 Day 1 today, very pleased with myself, especially as it is pouring with rain here today.

Bring on the sunshine :hippie:

Way to go Kate, I did w6d1 yesterday and wasn't bad at all. Tomorrow is 10 min run 3 min walk 10 min run. After that, it's all long runs from now on...

Great job Kate!

Well, I just have say how glad I am that I am participating in the FE!!!:cool1:
I've been having an absolute blast trying to pick items that are Canadian, age appropriate and useful....I even found something for the 8 guys......

Now all I need to do is order the FE to put outside my door......:rotfl::rotfl:

Can't believe the trip is getting so close......

Just found someonw who is willing to Make Elizabeth a Pirate costume the same as Minnie's - am so excited:-) Silly I know:-) But she refused point blank on the last cruise to have anything to do with dressing up for the pirate party (apparently in her mind all pirates are boys:-)) So I know she'll love to be like Minnie:)

How cute!! Charlotte is not a girly girly at all, I would love her to like dressing up, but she is just not into Princesses, in fact when they were doing the meets, she just walked on by - however, Mickey, Chip & Dale and Pluto etc., she couldn't wait to meet them! Pirate night no problem, the more Arrhhhs and swords the better!!!

Just been reading a thread about cleaning on the Magic, Dry Cleaning is so cheap!!! I think OH may bring his tux now, not only to wear at dinner, but also to get it cleaned! If there wasn't such a low baggage allowance, I would be bringing a load of stuff!!
