August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Hi there

Great, I will get a list going, I need your Room Number, ideally your real names (although if you don't want to give this, as it will be on the board, then don't worry!, along with the age/s of the child in the room - this helps give an idea of the sort of gift. I have added you with the info. I know, but wasn't sure if you had a OH going with you!

Anyone else who wants to go on, please let me know, or PM me. On the last trip, we had about 20 cabins (adults) and 8 children!! I personally did one drop for the adults and then a couple of smaller ones for the children, so it wasn't too time consuming. Most people do just one visit. My dd and I enjoyed wandering the corridors and seeing the decorated doors and FE's. We gave pencils, magnets, chocolate etc.

Mindy, sorry to hear about your legs, I too wondered about your shoes, but it is probably best not to risk anything before going away. How is your daughter?

Best of luck with Week 3, I am excited to getting to do it tomorrow, let me know how it goes. Went for a 'brisk' walk with the dogs this morning and wasn't 'out of puff' once :thumbsup2

Will sort out the list in another post and then I can update it. Fully understand anyone who doesn't want to take part - no worries!;)

Kate

Hi Kate

I just joined the boards so I cannot PM anyone until my message count is 10
This will be our first FE

Our names are:
Amy
Chelsea (11 yr old dd)
Evelyn (9 yr old dd)
Rm 2606 (unless we later get downgraded to our original Cat 12gty)

A question - when people prepare fish extenders, do they label their fish extenders with their names or is it anonymous?

OK --- so the room we were assigned is the same room we were in on the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise... :lmao:

Hi, everyone. After a few weeks of reading the forum and changing our minds, we are booked and already have room assignments.
It's me (Irene, 40 on Aug 13th)
My Husbad Ed (48 on Aug 30th)
Son Adam (15, he is not sure if he will have fun)
Daughter Leah (8)
Daughter Maya (6).
I have no tours booked yet. Doing a ton of research. Planning to at least do Sorrento/Amalfi and Rome with a guide and Tunis with Disney. No firm plans for anything yet so if anyone is looking to share a tour, I would definitely be interested.
We got 2 rooms apgraded from cat 12 to 11.

Can't wait> Well, onto the airfare research. Planning to fly out of JFK on 14th or 15th and stay in Barcelona for a couple of days. I really look foward to chatting with all of you.

Irene

Watched my neighbor's house burn to the ground the night before last....we had to evacuate we were so close. We walked around like zombies yesterday we were so tired all day. It as a "fun" 4th of July.

Mindy, that is terrible. Glad your family and house Ok but how awful for your neighbors.

Welcome Irene.....where from?

Ok FE will be on page 133, if it gets too far behind (likley with the amount of chat that goes on here!), then I will move it forward.

OMG:eek: I can't think of anything worse, how are they?, was everyone all right? What started it? It must be such a shock, you know fire is one of my worst fears, I am always going over how I would get out, what I would grab etc.- maybe I am just neurotic!!;)

Running shoes can make a huge difference, not having the right support in the right places. It is a bit of a minefield though buyng new ones, there are just so many, a specialist shop should be able to help, but you need a pair specificallly for running in, rather than just a general purpose one - not that I am an expert, just learnt through experience - and pain!

Kate

Kate- everyone got out fine, except their two dogs. My DH saw them tonight and they don't know how the fire started.

I bought a pair of New Balance cross trainers today. The guy at the store said for walking/running I should get a crosstrainer or running shoe.

Good! Whether running or walking, poor support will lead to injury.:scared:

I am glad everyone is OK. I know this sounds really weird, but I wanted to ask you 'did the dogs get out?'. I don't know why, but I had a feeling that dogs were inside. It has spooked me a bit to be honest!! ( maybe just a coincidence).

The trainers will definately help you legs, you may be best doing some power walking for a bit and building that up first. Lori, how did you get on with week 3? I am supposed to do it today, but have a PTA meeting this evening, so looks like it will be tomorrow morning.

Welcome Irene, do you want to join the FE list? Let me know if you do. My dd is 6 in September, so maybe they can all make friends.

Hi Amy, I have added you to the FE's. If you mean the FE itself, then it is up to you, there is a thread on the main board that has some photos of FE's, some have first names on only, some family names. If you mean the gifts, then personally, I liked knowing who gifts came from, although we did have a few with no names, or that I couldn't match up with someone. I just printed out some sticky address lables and put them onto a small ziplock, which I put the gift in. It is up to you, some people make wonderful tags. I am afraid I am not very arty, so won't be making anything!.

This is my second FE now, I never thought I would be keeping the list!.

:welcome:Irene!!! We're flying out of JFK on 8/14, though into Paris not Barcelona, maybe we'll see you around the terminal!!!!!

Kate, it wasn't too bad actually. Looking forward to tomorrow, though with the heat wave we're having here, it's going to be tough with it being so hot, EVEN at 6AM!!!!!

Well done you!!! :thumbsup2 Isn't it strange how you look forward to it!! I can't wait to see what the timings are in Wk3. To be honest, I can't believe I have run over 2 minutes anyway without stopping, let alone 5 times!!!

I tend to run in the same place and know when I should be starting to walk and when it is time to run again! Do you think we will make it to the final run - still seems a bit of a dream to be honest.

Weather is cooler today, I am in work (hence being able to post easily), still waiting for my new laptop for home.

Doing some research for Tunis today and for a trip up Vesuvius. We did it ourselves before and it was very simple. Just need to check out the company we used, as last time we just came accross the tour office and took our chances, only to find they had a trip up within a few minutes!

Apparently Cruise Critic boards are great for travel information, lots of tips there.

Hello Everyone,

I thought I would add something to the forum as my family and I are joining the 18th August cruise along with 4 other familes in one party, so 20 of us in total (9 Adults and 11 kids).

It looks like most of you are travelling much further than us. We are about 1.5 hours flying time from Barcelona. One of the party has been on a Disney Cruise before but the rest of us are virgins.

I am not sure we will be doing many excusions as we have been to many of the destinations before but I can highly recommend Pompeii coupled with a climb to the top of Vesuvius. The view over Naples Bay is fantastic.

It looks like a lot of fun and hopefully will see lots of you onboard next month.

Thanks

Christian

Welcome to the boards and the cruise! Glad to see there is an other 15 year old boy on this cruise! DS is looking forward to the ports but is unsure about the activities on the ship. :confused3 There certainly are a lot of August birthdays, DD will be turning 11 on the 24th. :)
Wow! Another HOT day! I guess we're all practicing for the Mediterranean. :sunny:
