It's good to see so many people from the East Coast (my home).
Is anyone else a little worried about lost luggage? Or am I just a worry wart.

Are you talking about when we get to Barcelona? We're leaving Monday night, so I should let her sleep on the plane correct?

Yea by all means let her sleep on the plane if she can but keep her up until bedtime when she lands. It might stink buy much better in the long rung. I will say if you are in coach for the flight the seats are tight so be aware of that.

We are about 4 hours from Paris so the flight from Paris to Barcelona should be quick, mine is only 2 hours.

I'm not too worried. The Swiss's reputation for reliability is what got me to book thru them. I did not want to go thru Heathrow; I know that some of the problems reported 2 years ago were due to the new terminal, but with all the labor disputes this summer w/British Airways, I figured avoiding that mess would be in my best interest! That and I get to check 2 bags per person and get a real meal with free alcohol (not that I drink that much, but it's the principle of the matter)!

So if I"m correct right now it's 9:30 pm in Germany and only 12:30 in Washington - am I correct...I think that's neat...that people from across the world can communicate. LOL...Just being introspective...:lmao:

Nah, I'm not too worried. We're flying non-stop from JFK to CDG so no connections to deal with. In all my years of flying it seems that it's connections that seems to lose your luggage more often. As long as you check-in in plenty of time, most likely your luggage will make it onboard your aircraft. I just ensure it's tagged properly before saying goodbye to it.

So we get into Barcelona at 11:35 is that plenty of time?

I think I'm the only one here who hasn't booked anything yet....we've never cruised....
kim

Kim,
We haven't booked yet and to be honest I am kind of happy about that after checking some of the things I wanted to do were easier to do by train. I will be booking first thing in the morning with the exception of Naples and Rome which we are going to take the train in and just relax and find what we can.

Just a tip for those of you that are worried about lost luggage. Having had to deal with a lost bag during our trip to Asia (only for 1 day, so not a big deal) my advice would be to split up everyone's clothing among the bags. That way, if a bag is lost, you are at least guaranteed a change of clothes for the next day. Also, make sure you keep those tags they stick to your boarding pass -- they are invaluable for tracking down any lost pieces and for making a claim. Also, make sure you check what your credit card provides in terms of emergency supplies when your bag is lost. We were able to purchase our daughter new clothing while we waited for the bag to arrive and were completely reimbursed. That being said, in all my travels, that was the first time I had ever had a lost bag....

You're LANDING in BCN at 11:35 on Wed???? Personally, I wouldn't do it, I'm a day before gal myself. We arrive in BCN on 8/17 at 8PM. You're not leaving yourself a lot of wiggle room if bags are lost, since you'll have to head straight for the ship, as I believe everyone has to be onboard by 3PM.

Nice! I remember on 4th of July still seeing a bit of light on the horizon after fireworks....

Done and done! It'll be a battle with my husband (we have very different packing styles....) but I've heard that advice about packing across suitcases an plan to do so!

Also, In addition to the credit card thing, check your travel insurance docs (if you purchased) to see what info they need for reimbursement! (and a phone# for them!)

Geez I've never seen so many of us on the board at the same time...too bad we can't just have a chat room..:hippie:

yeah, we've been a pretty active board today... It's too hot to be outside anyway.....

I'm pissed at my boss and he's in a meeting, so I'm here. I have to leave in 20 minutes and take DS to baseball...and I don't look forward to sitting and watching.
