August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

i do have a reservation for one of the cabins at mountain view lodge if that's the place you are referring to. we figure that if we stay in the middle of the two parks we can be flexible in terms of shifting from one to the other and not have to move.

we love visiting the national parks in the west. they are so much better than the ones on the east coast. this will be our first ones in washington and oregon.

I've never been to any national parks east of Yellowstone, so I'll have to take your work on it! Have you ever been to Yosemite? It is truly amazing!

We were on the 11/1 (otherwise known as New Jersey Teacher's convention cruise). That is the one we are sailing again on this year.

Do you have your flights yet for Barcelona?

on that same cruise with you.....we had so much fun....were you part of the a DIS board group...I met the Election Day castaways a few weeks before I went. I technically have my flights booked, however, we booked them through Disney ages ago and I may have my ta get prices otherwise...we just booked the disney ones to have something because you couldn't really price the flights at the time and we thought if something happened and we couldn't go. We almost had to cancel because my company keeps cutting things, but now they've given us a 2 week furlough and my husband has a great new job so I think we can go but may want to add a day or two on either end.

Are flights available yet to look at prices?

:welcome: Cliffside!

Thanks for the welcome.

I think I saw that you were in DL over spring break, any good hints over where to eat. I feel very comfortable with dining plans in DW but I feel totally clueless when it comes to DL. Thanks

Yes that was a great cruise, but no I was not part of the DIS board group member. If you could believe it, I have been a lurker since we went on our first cruise on the Wonder in 2005. I enjoyed reading all the posts but just never posted myself. I figured this was a perfect time to jump in since I have 2 cruises and a trip to DL on the horizon.

Did you have early or late seating? Did you go to any of the adult activities at Rockin Bar D? Were your kids in the club a lot. My DD loves the lab she usually goes every night after the show. I think our kids will be in the lab together for the cruise.

No I have not seen any flights available for our dates. Probably at the one year mark. Our plan is to fly Continental out of Newark. We are debating to try and use miles for flights or use our miles to upgrade to business class. We will see how DD does on our flight to San Diego this summer.

I never really got to any of the adult activiites...it seemed like the kids were out by 11 and we along with them...we were just so tired every night....next cruise I hope to do some adult activities. Since my kids were 7 they were in the club, not the lab last time. This next time they'll be 9 so they'll be in the lab We had early dinner seating but are going for the late seating on the next one. We stayed concierge level last time (upgraded at the port) and are staying cat 3 again on this cruise, so we get snacks in our room, so the kids will be fine with late dinners. We want to fly business class too, we don't know the kids will fare otherwise. They've flown to AZ, but that's a long one for them.

Where in NJ are you> We're going to fly out of Philly or Newark, whichever is cheaper....we're a little closer to Newark but only by 15 minutes

This was the 1st time since 1999-ish that I've been to DL, where I've been to WDW the past 3 years. It is so different an experience at DL! Off-site is more of a norm, and I think that there is less sit-down at DL. We did only one sit down meal on-site, at the Wine Country Trattoria. We really enjoyed our dinner there and although the per-glass wine charges were outrageous, I felt the bottle value was better....so we finished one off and were really mellow for the rest of the evening! We also ate at the place off to the right in Sunshine Plaza....kind of a rail-car type place....quick-service with decent food and a topping bar rivaling Pecos Bills/Cosmos Rays. If I think of anyplace else, I'll re-update, but we did Mimi's Cafe and the Cheesecake Factory near-by on the other days.
Are you going to DL soon?

We're going to drive our cats to my dad's and fly out of San Francisco. Anybody have any opinions as to the following: fly to the east coast, then to Barcelona; or fly to Heathrow or Charles de Gaulle and then to Barcelona? I'm wondering which would be easier/better/morelikely to have luggage actually reach our destination.

So, in my desperation to take another WDW trip, I've convinced DH to run with me in the marathon weekend next Jan (him the full, me the 1/2). So in preparation, I ran a 10k today. You know how someone always has to be last? Well, that was me. It was insane how good these runners were. It's not like I walked the whole thing....I walked maybe 1/4 mile up the hill (at the end, of course) and completed it in about 1:08. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.....

Kim,

I know I can't do a 1k....it doesn't matter what place you came in, you did it and finished..congrats...It's a great accomplishment

We have been to yosemite. that was the first national park we ever visited and we've been hooked ever since. we've also been to death valley but no others in calif. we've visited many others in the western half of the US and the scenery is so spectacular. really makes you appreciate how beautiful this country is. we live in NYC so we love getting out of the concrete jungle.

doesn't matter that you came in last. what matters is that you did it and you finished the race. it's more than what a lot of other people would do.

NYC is another place I haven't been yet. I've never lived in quite that concrete a jungle, but let me tell you, I'd move back to CA in a heartbeat if my husband's job was portable to there. We've spent the past 9 years in "little" towns", most currently on an island. We have fairly easy on/off access, but Seattle is a 2-hr solid drive without traffic and minimum 45 minutes to a "larger" town. I miss a good variety of restaurants....and shopping....sigh...the grass is always greener.....

10k that is pretty impressive, Congrats. It does not matter that you did not finish first what matters is that you had the determination to finish. That's incredible again Congrats

Thanks! I got the final results the other day, and I completed it in 1:04:43! For mother's day, dh ordered me an awesome Garmin watch with the heart rate monitor and a foot pod. I used it for the 1st time today and downloaded the info into the computer. It showed me my heartrate, speed, along with a bunch of other data. VERY cool and a motivator, for the time being!

Our weather has been decent, so getting outside has been a luxury I didn't think I'd get at this time of year here.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I'm taking advantage of being able to have the windows open and am doing some painting!

Hi. Wow these weeks fly by. We are in Livingston so Newark is very close to us. Our plan is to fly Continental out of Newark. Unfortunately the past couple of cruises and WDW trips we have had to fly out of out of PHL and LGA because Newark was too expensive. President's Week this year we flew out of PHL to WDW. It was fine going down. We stayed the night before at the Renaissance, but coming home was hard. We had been at the parks in the morning and then my DH had to drive home in the dark two hours home. That was tough.

What day are people flying in? I guess we will do it Sunday or Monday.

Enjoy the weekend. We have a babysitter tonight and our going to the movies.

I haven't really focused on many of the details yet...it still seems to far away...I'll probably pay more attention, once the flights become available. Right now I think we're getting in whenever the Disney flights get there...but I'm sure we're going to find cheaper airfare on our own which will necessitate us getting there a day or two in advance just to be on the safe side.

You are right it is a little early for those details. I think when we had those 90 degree days last week it made me think that summer was upon us and that the flights would be opening soon. But we have plenty of time.
