August 17, 2012 Magic in NYC!

I read on one of the threads about using gallon ziplock to pack clothes. SHe mentioned she would pack a day and night outfit for her children in a ziplock for each day. It helped keep her organized. I'm actually going to try that. I am organized before vacation but once I am on vacation, organization goes out the window. My drawers are a mess. All the counters are a mess. I am always looking for something. My DH gets so aggravated with me! I am definitely going to get the shoe hanger as well. I am going to try to do better as this is a longer vacation with a smaller space.

The suitcases are out and I have started to gather the dressy clothes. We dress for formal and semi formal nights . I have to go shopping for my sons suit this weekend not looking forward to that purchase. But he will be a sophmore so he will start to get use for dances atleast. I think I will try the shoe holder too just need to find a cheap one. I too will do laundry purex 3-1 sheets are great !! and I always overpack !! But i'm not flying and paying per suitcase so it's OK !!

Have some stuff in spare bedroom getting ready, but really need to focus on this on sunday and get organized!

If you do laundry do you need to bring your own detergents?
Roughly how long does a load take to wash and dry- I'm guessing you have to iron it laundry room as well?
Do you leave your stuff and go off and come back when it's done?
Never been 8 days without washing machine and my 3 year old is probably the messiest on the planet!
Does it get really busy?

Sorry for all the questions!

Also, can anyone recommend travel sickness medication for adult and 8 year old- been trying to not think about it, but read a review of our cruise last night that mentioned 12 foot waves :-(

Yes you nned your own detergents. They sell them but so much easier to bring your own. I recomend purex 3-1 sheets. I usually leave takes 30 minutes wash and longer to dry. It can be busy on sea days .
Unless we have a storm there shouldn't be 12 foot waves I haven't used meds but the do sell motion bands that go on your wrists and work well. We were on the Magic avoiding a Huricanne and had rough seas my son 5 at the time got sick put them on and 5 minutes later he was fine.
2 Weeks !! :cool1:

ok fyi the last to stops the magic made to pc it leaves at 1am, so we really need to be on board by midnight. we have planned to go to fantasmic but not sure if we can make the 10.30 bus if we go to the 10pm show.

The acts are usually on port and sea days. Family shows are usually between early and second seating when they have them and adult shows are usually at 10:30 or later

Who on here is 18 or bringing an 18 year old? Because I'm starting to he worried with the whole age issue. This will be my 8th cruise and all my brother and all my friends we are meeting up with are under 18 and in the vibe :/

ok im thinking you may be Jen who is in fe with us. we have a 21yo in our group, he and his family are coming up from Va, he has 2 younger siblings as well so you could relate.

I'd try to do the 8:30 show, DCL's website shows the last bus from Hollywood
Studios is at 10:00, the last bus from Magic Kingdom is 11:00. I wouldn't take the chance of getting to MK in 35 minutes to catch that bus.:scared:

We are going to try for the 8.30 show, we did dinner package but not 100% sure of which show we will get tickets for. i have the navigator from June 2's cruise and they have last bus @10.30 for mk & hs, epcot 9.30. where did you find return times on dcl?

In the port adventures section on DCL's site:

Return transportation commences at 3:30 p.m. and is available from all 4 major theme parks at the bus depot throughout the day and evening. The last bus departing to the port from Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park at 10:00 p.m. A complete schedule will be available on your "Personal Navigator", the daily events flyer onboard

What's everyone doing for excursions on Castway Cay? Wondering if anyone will be joining my DS12 and I on the kayak/nature walk?

I signed the two older kids up for the Wildside teen adventure.

I'm not 18, but don't be worried. I have cruised a lot since I was 18 and I am always worried about meeting people my age. And I usually find people my age and not my age to hang out with:cool1::thumbsup2:goodvibes

Ok, fe gifts are almost ready!!! I am not sure I'll have time to get our fe hanging thing ready, so we may be the cabins with totes hanging on the fish instead!! I'm trying though!!

Starting to set aside clothes this weekend...slowly getting there!

Our only solid plans for castaway cay are to run the 5k race and to enjoy pelican plunge! No other excursions...
