August 17, 2012 Magic in NYC!

Formal night is a range of very casual to very formal - decide what u and ur family is comfortable with and go from there... My daughter loves dressing up - i detest it - so we are wearing black dresses w/ silver trim hers has chiffon mine is cotton / lycra ... Just remember its suppose to be fun

Does your daughter know my daughter? Everyday I get the same question, "Mommy can I wear a dress today?"

You can bring any alcohol that you like and a much as you can carry, but you must carry it on you can't check it. You are supposed to imbibe in your stateroom but most carry drinks with them. You stateroom host will supply you with ice if you want, you can get glasses from the bars or cups by the drinking station, available mixers are limited. In Nassau you can buy alcohol and carry it on unless you want to purchase it duty free, then I believe, they deliver it to the ship and you get it the night before disembarkation.

Wave phones are like cell phones but only work to other wave phones on board and at Castaway Cay. The internet is available but is expensive and very slow.

I have read that we can't bring musical instruments on the ship but does anyone know if the teen club has guitars for the kids to play? What about for talent shows?:rockband:

I assume my youngest is out of luck hoping for a cello ;)

Hi everybody,

I was trying to organize my fe gifts and have a couple of questions.

amybmomof3 - ages of children?

buzzcrazy- are the adults male or female?

Thanks

So this morning, I took a little nap betwwen my 2 jobs. It was a NIGHTMARE.

I dreamt that we took the Amtrak train all the way into NYC, arrived at the port by taxi, got up to the check-in counter only to find I left all my cruise documents at HOME!!!!! Passports, birth certificates, EVERYTHING!!!

Woke up in a cold sweat, I tell ya.

Let's consider the FE extender closed now.
Please make sure names and ages are correct in case any keen crafter is personalizing their items. If there are any changes to cabins aboard, leave a post it note on our cabin door so your FE treats will arrive at the correct cabin.

Hi Keever,
Thanks for organizing this list. I just checked your link (for the 1st time, believe it or not!)

Anyway, I am listed simply as my DIS-name of Dishy24.
My name is Tricia & my 12 DS is Gavin.

Am I correct that there are a total of 17 families/ staterooms participating?

The wave phones only work on board (or in posts) but only call other wave phones/ staterooms-- It can't be used like an actual cellphone to call home. But as my son quickly figured out, you can text with it.

*WARNING* If you lose or break even 1 of them, the replacement charge is $250! I was at Castway Cay in April & the small boy (around 3 or 4) picked my wave phone out of my flip flop (and dropped it in a bucket of water!) I did the "Disney" thing & didn't cause a scene with the father (who was not watching him at all!) Anyway, I went directly to to guest services on the ship, told them what happened and they thanked me for the polite way I handled it. Next thing I know, the following month a charge of $250 was on DH's Visa! I called DCL to inquire & was told that since the phone was in my possession, I was responsible for the charge, no matter how it was damaged! Needless to say, if I had a "do-over" I wouldn't have been so nice!

Finally, the internet is slow-- but it is better & a bit cheaper than it used to be. I usually get the 500 minutes for $150. If you pay per minute, it is $.75/ minute. There are several different levels of minutes to choose from. (But the higher the quantity you buy, the lower it is per minute.) There are times where it is really slow (when many people are on at the same time), so I try & go on either really late at night of early in the am & it isn't so bad.

Would anyone be interested in getting together with the kids for a game or two or three of Spoons? We played it on vacation last year, and it was a blast!!! With so many kids, I think it will be a great time. I am bringing a deck of cards and spoons to play with my kids, but thought it would be neat to have a bigger group...the game lasts longer.

If you do not know what Spoons is, this is a little info..it is real fun!

Sorry everyone! My kids ages for the FE are: Colin (14), Liam (11) and Aiden (8). Sorry - I missed that part originally!

I have seen copies of the Navigators from a June cruise (NY to Bahamas) and there are several time slots allotted to "Spoons"..... I had no clue what it was, so thanks for the explanation! Now, my (and my daughters') game of choice is Words with Friemds, and we're hoping that there is at least a Scrabble game on board for us to play! Any other takers on this one?

I love words with friends and scrabble, I'm pretty sure they have scrabble on the ship if anyone wants to play I'm up for it if I am not busy

So I am looking forward to seeing some of my friends that will be on the Magic when we cruise, Tisa will be on and DJ Justin who I talked with on the Dream in February moved to Magic till September so I am excited

Hi
Count me in for scrabble and spoons.

you're right that is a nightmare.

I see they have a spoons tournament listed in vibe, fyi.

Until someone pointed out they had seen itin a Navigator, I wasn't aware it was on the ship. I saw it listed in Edge. Now you say it's also in Vibe. That's great, but this is a game that is fun for adults too!

They do, but vibe is for teens

Thank you! MTE. I don't think they'll let me play with them. LOL

I was hoping for a "family" spoons tournament.

If anyone is interested, PM me your stateroom number, and I'll scope out a good place for us to set it up, and I can call and leave messages on your stateroom phone as to when and where.
