August 17, 2012 Magic in NYC!

Dishey24, What a small world seems like alot of CT people will be on the ship. Both of us were born and raised in Stratford and have lived here most of our lives. We have one son just turned 15. I see you did the transatlantic that is my dream to do, we love the sea days onboard too. We love the water I grew up on a boat and so has my son. This is our 6th trip on the Magic, do you like the Dream or feel it's too big. I grew up cruising my Mom was a Travel Agent and loved cruising, to me the Magic reminds me of the older ships I cruised with my parents. My son is pushing for a trip on the Fantasy and I am looking at Christmas 2013 we will see.

Hi again,
I did like the Dream (we did a back to back in June/ July last summer) & we will actually be on the Fantasy in 2 weeks! BUT, I think the Magic will always be our favorite ship. I never cruised before the maiden voyage on the Magic in 1998 (and am now clearly obsessed!) As for the TransAtlantic, it was all of our favorite cruise-- 6 straight sea days was amazing!!! I would love to do that again but now my son is in middle school & taking that much time off isn't going to happen any time soon. In 2010, one week happened to be his break week & since he was still in Elementary School (and the CMT's had passed) taking the 2nd week off was much easier. Excited to be on the Fantasy in 15 days, but really excited to be back on the Magic in August!!

PS... Yes, it is a small world!!!

PS: Looks like a lot of people from CT! Rollcall of towns: I am from Stratford, but have lived in Trumbull for the past 17 years or so...

Too bad for your friend and her son. They will miss soooooo muuuch fun!
Gavin can chum with my boys (14 and 16), I'm sure. I am adding you to the Fish extender list. Thanks for signing up!

We're in Milford! Been here 8 years, but I grew up in Monroe

We're a family of 6, plus my parents too (so 8 of us total)...we have connecting rooms.

Can't wait to go!

DO we have any Platinum members on the thread? I think today would have been there day to book excursions. I am curious of bus times to WDW. I can't wait for the 90 day mark! We have 4 months to go!!!! This vacation can not come fast enough!

We're Platinum, the times to book for Magic Kingdom are every half hour from 7:15 to 10:15 plus 12;45; Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Epcot are 7:15, 8:15, 9:15 and 10:15, Animal Kingdom also has a 6:30, Epcot has a 12:45.

We are heading down today for the Fantasy eastern cruise:banana::cool1:

Does it show how many buses or slots per time? Would hate to be stuck at going to the MK at 12:45! :)

Thank you so much. Hopefully there will be early buses available to MK on the 90 day. I booked a late breakfast at Cinderella Palace. Last time we went my daughter was a little under 3 and we went for dinner. She feel asleep

Enjoy your Fantasy cruise. Cant wait to hear how you like the ship and how it compares to the others. We are booked on the Fantasy for Nov 2013 (NJ Week:) I'm also from North Jersey (Little Falls to be exact).

Thank you for posting this! We are gold members, so I have to wait 13 more days to book and can't wait!

Something interesting I did to motivate my kids to do their homework. If they get high honors (all A's) on their last report card, they can choose an excursion just for them to do.

My youngest earned high honors last term while the other two didn't. The original deal was A's and B's for the last two terms. Since I still needed to motivate them for this last term, I agreed that if they got all A's they could still do it. My 6th grader got all A's so even if he doesn't this term, he has earned his kayaking adventure.

We have never been on more than the 4 day cruise, so we are beyond excited for August 17th to hurry up and arrive.

Is there any plans of a meet? I would love for my 16yo DS to meet with someone his age....he is almost too old for VIBE. Last year on the Dream, he complained about how boring it was.

Our family has been utilizing the great advice on these boards for all of our trips but we were too shy to join the discussion.

We are also going on the August 17 cruise and excited to meet other DIS families! Are there others out there from the greater Toronto area?

Is anyone booking an excursion in Nassau? I was thinking about Atlantis aquaadventure but the more I thought about it, I am not willing to pay those prices especially with a 5 year old. I am considering Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter but my DH feels it's not worth it because daughter is 5 and she isn't going to remember, blah, blah, blah. He and I go through this all the time. I feel like we need something to do in Nassau. We would have been on the ship for 2 days, he is going to want to get off. But I don't want to walk around. Downtown Nassau leaves something to be desired.

We have a 5 yo and a 2 yo and we plan on staying on the ship. We have 0 desire to schlep them around Nassau. We figure the ship will uncrowded so it might make for a nice experience.

I agree with you. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the ship without the crowds but unfortunately I know my husband is going to want to get off the ship even if it is to walk a little in town, especially after being on the ship for two days. Crusing is not his thing. I can do without walking aimlessly in Nassau.

Welcome to Kristen707 and family!

And a big shout out to fellow Canadians - the FoxFam5. We are from Ottawa and HUGE Montreal Canadiens fans. I am so happy to add you to the Fish Extender. Is your first time participating in the FE?

Disney1Fan2002 -tell your son that this cruise will rock. There will be at least three Canadian teen age boys (14, 15 and 16) from Ottawa and Fox Fam5 has a DS age 17. Sounds like a great group!

I will update the website to include the new cruisers.

Someone suggested a meet. What about a thirty minute "say hello" in some lounge before the ship sets sail? The kids/teens can meet. Any ideas?

My sons each received an excursion coupon for Christmas. They will choose something at Atlantis on the Nassau Day.

Check out the website.

That's when you tell him to have a great time in Nassua while you hit the spa! :):thumbsup2
