August 17, 2012 Magic in NYC!

I'm curious if anyone else is planning on not going to Disneyworld while we're docked in Port Canaveral? I just came back from a vacation there, and don't think that I need to spend a day scooting from park to park in the heat and crowds of August. That airboat tour of the Everglade area is appealing to me instead.

Hello Everyone! Please count us IN! It will be Me, DW, DD5, DD2, DS, DBIL, DM and DDad!

Hi Everyone ! We just booked last week. I was so happy to be able to change our reservation from June. It will be myself , my husband and son 15 This will be our 6th cruise on the Magic and so Happy it will be from NYC and only 1 hour from home. No airfair, and No worrying about luggage !! Anyone else DVC ??? We are WLV, SSR & GC .

I do plan on going to the park but I do have to say, I am having some anxiety about planning the day. I need to accept that it is only a day. We can only do so much.

We're on this cruise too! I think I posted on here before, but couldn't remember my logins....anyway! I'm from Connecticut, this is our first Disney cruise, but I've cruised many times before but not in several years. We'll be taking our 4 kids, a little nervous about that, they are all little. But we've got two cabins. I'm (37) traveling with (ages at time of sailing) DH (38),
twins DS & DD (4), DD (2), DD (11 months), and my parents. We've booked this cruise 3 times out of FLA, then kept rescheduling it due to babies being born....now we're really going to go! I was ready to cancel again due to flying 4 small children, when then I found out it was out of NYC I rescheduled to this date. Yeah! Can't wait :cool1:

We do plan on going to the park...I've heard of privately going to the park (not with the ship) any one know about this? My agent mentioned it, I have to ask him.
Kristen

oops....our twins will be 5, not 4 then (b-day is week before) and I never did post here it was another message board somewhere else! Well, I'm glad I found this board now :)

Dining themes/dress codes for each night, thanks to MermaidMama from the May 25 Meet Thread. I just changed the dates to coorelate with our cruise. Hopefully it remains consistent throughout the NYC 8 night cruises:

Day 1 - Friday, August 17th: NYC ~ casual attire
Day 2 - Saturday, August 18th: At Sea ~ Formal Night
Day 3 - Sunday, August 19th: At Sea ~ casual
Day 4 - Monday, August 20th: Nassau ~ Pirate Night
Day 5 - Tuesday, August21st: Castaway Cay ~ casual
Day 6 - Wednesday, August 22nd: Port Canaveral ~ casual
Day 7 - Thursday, August 23rd: At Sea ~ Semi-formal
Day 8 - Friday, August 24th: At Sea ~ casual
Day 9 - Saturday, August 25th: Debarkation after breakfast

We're on the 8/17 cruise as well! It feels like we've been waiting for this (our very first cruise as a family) forever!

My family of 5 is from CT, and we have two connecting rooms booked.

Can't wait!

Everyone booked on the ship will be able to get a one-day park hopper pass and Disney is offering complimentary transportation to and from the parks. The 1st busses will leave around 7am and the last busses leaving the parks around 11pm. All this at no extra cost. Now, you have to consider the meals on the ship are already paid for in your cruise fare. Going out to the parks for the day means you will have to buy your meals in the park.

You will have to book a time for your bus, I guess to make it run more smoothly.

last disney ccruise we spent the day at atlantis on our nassau day - the night before we ordered from room service those items that would travel well (sandwiches, chips, those huge cookies, ect) and we packed them in ziplock bags we bought just for the occasion as well as a smallish soft cooler (we requested ice from our stateroom host). So the only thing we ended up buying were drinks (and if you plan really well (which we didnt) - you can pack a water bottle and those hi-c, ice tea or gatorade single size drink mixes and utilize the water fountains - which at most of the disney parks are in good order.)

That way you get to save a little on your meal tab while in the parks.....

We are in the NE corner, just off of I84 about 15 minutes from the MA border. I had a friend that used to live in Stratford....he took us to a pizza place where we had something with "scamotes" (no idea how to spell that) but I can't remember what that is!

We've always wanted to try a Disney cruise--so happy to avoid the flying, too!

I actually booked this cruise forever ago, but just looked for this thread. I booked it the day the NYC cruises opened up for Platinum members, so it has been a while!

We are a party of 4. Myself (Tricia) & DS- Gavin (12) from CT & our friends Shelly & her DS- Jayden (12) from OH. This is a Moms & kids only trip! :)

I am so excited to sail out of NYC! Plus, I just love the Magic! We will be on the Fantasy in 28 days from today (but who's counting)... & we did a back-to-back on the Dream last summer, but the Magic will always be my favorite ship! (Plus not having to purchase airfare will be nice, too!) I am excited about all of the sea-days as those are my favorite!

Has there been discussion of FE? If so, count us in!

Take care!

DVCMagic- We live in Trumbull (but I was born & raised in Stratford & my parents are still there) so we still spend lots of time there! I think you are the closest person I have ever "met" on a DCL cruise-- Last summer we did a back-2-back on the Dream & there was a family from Milford, but you are so close! Do you have any kids? I have one son who just turned 12.

Can't wait for this cruise!:banana::banana:

Dishey24, What a small world seems like alot of CT people will be on the ship. Both of us were born and raised in Stratford and have lived here most of our lives. We have one son just turned 15. I see you did the transatlantic that is my dream to do, we love the sea days onboard too. We love the water I grew up on a boat and so has my son. This is our 6th trip on the Magic, do you like the Dream or feel it's too big. I grew up cruising my Mom was a Travel Agent and loved cruising, to me the Magic reminds me of the older ships I cruised with my parents. My son is pushing for a trip on the Fantasy and I am looking at Christmas 2013 we will see.

We are getting closer and closer to the sail date - the anticipation is killing me - I am having a hard time waiting for the day - :cool1:

So what's up with this fish extenders????? Is anyone interested in doing this?
I don't have to mail a box to myself on the boat or worry about packing another suitcase full of FE gifts ..... So I am really gun ho about doing FE.
And of course all that running around the ship.......

Anyone getting off the boat to go to Disney on this trip????

Which park are you going to and what are an ing to see.

Same here. August can't get here any faster. I planning our excursions. We are definitely going to WDW. I booked a late breakfast at MK's Cinderella Royal Table so my daughter has an opportunity to eat with the princesses. We will probably end the day at HS but I think we will play it by ear. Now I am looking at Atlantis Aqua Adventure. I am weighing the pros and cons of either booking with Comfort Suite or through DCL. There are three of us. It is slightly cheaper booking Comfort suite or is better to just go with DCL and and not have to worry about transportation and lunch. Decisions, decisions. I am also planning to take full advantage of the ship (Palo dinner, brunch and high tea, some of the tasting and a spa treatment).

We are definitely interested in the FE! It seems our meet thread is pretty small. I am hoping more people will join.

I hadn't been checking this thread and WOW many more are aboard. Great! next weekend when I have a minute, I will summarize the details on the website. please let me know by PM or on this thread if you wish to be part of the fish extender etc.

We are getting excited for the trip.

Hi Keever,

If we do have enough people who want to participate in the FE, count us in.

The Grant Family
Fatima, Kenneth and Amaya (5)
Stateroom 2072
We are hoping to upgrade our stateroom at port to a verhanda.
