In our family, things are a little different. We go to Bob's tree farm the day after Thanksgiving...christmas music playing, everyone singing, counting all the trees on the roof of passing cars.
Then we get to the farm, everyone fights over which tree we should get, DH threatens the kids, we pick a tree and drive home in silence.

You got to love traditions:santa:

That is how ours normally is! :lmao: We call it our traditional get a tree Christmas fight!

This year was different! :cool1: We really did see some wonderful trees and then suddenly...there were 2 beautiful ones right by one another. After a quick study of the both, we were all in agreement - totally unheard of! :woohoo:

I kind of missed arguing over the tree this year...it was even peaceful when we decorated it!:upsidedow

Hey Friends!! Our cruise is so far away!!! but.. I recently got a pin so I booked the Polynesian for my son's 5th birthday in May!! woohoo!! Now.. this is our 1st time EVER to WDW! (how sad right?? my hubby and I are in our early 30s) I wanted to stay at a monorail resort since my youngest will be only 8months in May and narrowed by choices to CR or POLY. Anyone here have been there?? and your opinions please if you would like to share.. Thanks people:)

Ohhh....you are so lucky! We LOVE the Poly!!!!:love::love:

We have stayed there our past 2 trips and cannot say enough how we love the resort! The feeling of it just makes you feel relaxed and happy from the moment you arrive. What type of room will you be in? Have you requested any specific building or floor?

If we are ever given the chance to stay there again with a discount...we will be there!!!

Feel free to ask if you have questions!
Jen

Nice!!! Now I am super excited!! I booked the garden view. What building or floor should I request?? I would like stay near everything in a central location.

OMGoodness.. yeah wouldn't even think about it if it wasn't for our offer.. It was 40% off deluxe rooms!! So.. I added the regular dining plan too.

Jen, I visited the website and it is awesome. Thank you so much for setting it up but I wasn't able to vote for our name even with your instructions :(

Harry,

Hope the visit with Santa went well tonight!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It went pretty good. Santa pulled up in his SUV <lol> and brought some gifts for the kids. He was a pretty good Santa - though he was like 6.5' tall!! He knew the kids' names, ages, and some other stuff so at least Keira was in shock! They sang some carols together and had a lot of fun. Oddly Santa knew all the football scores from earlier in the day so we got to talk about that, too :rotfl:

Good Afternoon My Fellow Cruisers,,

This morning my dad and the kids and Bruce went to AK.....

My mom and I went to MK and saw the Jonas Brothers perfrom in front of the Castle for the Christmas Day Parade.....They sang four songs...It was AWESOME!! I have some video of it and will post it tonight....

Also, we were part of the parade look for us on Christmas Day...We saw Kelly Ripa again. Then we saw the floats, and the dancers coming down Main Street USA!! Such FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Jessie will be so jealous that you saw the Jonas at WDW!!! Glad to hear you are having a good time.

Sounds like you all having a great time at the World.

I am sooooo exhausted. I've been working OT covering for 2 people who are on vacation for 2 weeks. 47 hours last week, looks like it will be the same this week. I'll have worked 12 days in a row once it's all over with. Fortunately I was able to bring some work home over the weekend instead of having to make the 40 min. commute. But, after working 5 hours yesterday between loads of laundry and just getting home a little bit ago from the groceries I sure do not want to finish what I brought. :sad2: Probably have 4 - 5 hours left. There's not enough coffee in the world right now for me.

Ok, yes, I know I'm whining. Just had to vent a bit. Thanks for letting me.

Wishing the cruise was tomorrow......April

That was me last Christmas time - it is NOT fun. Hopefully it will get better for you.

We did get our tree this weekend also. Had my 6 year twin DN's with us. It was fun. My oldest decided she is now into photography and took more picture then her scrapbooking mom would have - :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sorry it has been a while since I posted. Hopefully everyone had a good weekend. We actually had snow on Saturday and it finally feels like Christmas time around here.

Santa arrives at our house at 7PM tonight.... it's a surprise for the kids (we have one "believer", one that's on the fence, and one that doesn't believe - we just don't speak about it <LOL>).

The long story short - last December 23 there was an "incident" with the mall Santa. We had the standard pictures done & purchased on a prior trip. DD wanted to see Santa one last time before XMAS so we waited in line, etc. etc.
We told the "elf" we weren't buying pictures... just needed a moment with Santa. DW then asked if she could snap a photo with her camera. The elf said no problem; however, a clearly weary and cranky Santa felt otherwise... He dropped DD to the floor, started yelling, and tried to grab the camera! I was about 20 yards away with my boys.... mall security was called... Santa ended up getting canned!

The company that runs the Santa thing promised us a personal, home visit from Santa..... and here we are almost a year later! Fingers crossed!

WOW!! There's a fine Merry Christmas. Good to hear the mall stepped up then and is keeping their promise now!!

Hello all! Just wanted to check in and say hi! And rescue us from page 2!!
It is cold and wet here in So Cal! And our local mountains are getting quite a bit if snow! We need the rain so bad, we are in a major drought! It's starting to finally to feel like Christmas...I'm actually wearing a long sleeve shirt! LOL
I hope everyone has a great day!!

I would seriously like to move to Florida!

News this morning said 1-2" of snow. When I watched the news at dinner they said 6" of snow. Now they are saying that some parts of Minnesota will get a foot of snow or more! :confused3

Mind you, this would all be great if we lived in an area that closes schools for snow but that doesn't happen...we will be battling major traffic and darting accidents all day tomorrow if the snow really all comes.

Stay warm everyone!

I hear ya! I am terrified, this will be my sons first time driving in the snow, and my stomach hurts already. Until he is home tomorrow afternoon, I am going to be totally ill!!!

What's your "average" winter snowfall? Once it starts accumulating - are you under a blanket of snow until spring?

We get, on average, about 25" a snow here... some years barely any.... some years we'll get 2+ feet at a time.... it's hit or miss.

OMG!!!!! I will be so scared when it comes time for DD to drive in the snow! It is crazy. I get scared driving in it...especially our first big snow...too many crazy drivers out there and as you know...nothing closes!

"Average" snowfall where I live is 50" but there are many parts of Minnesota where the "average" is 80 or more inches!!!!:scared1:

At this point in the year, once it starts we will remain in a deep freeze until sometime in the spring.

I am NOT ready for this! The HIGH on Thursday is only 17° and that does not even take into account the wind chill!

Yeah....I'd be seriously considering a move to Florida in the face of that kind of winter! :rotfl:

We will be applying to schools there this spring! Both DH and I teach and if we could both get hired there in a decent area..we would so go!

I don't know that I would want to move to Florida. We were there in August and it way too humid for me. I think our winters are about the same as Florida. Besides, I would miss the mountains.

It's the low I'm more concerned about, -3 before the windchill! Ick!!!

I used to say that but Steve and I have decided, we would get used to it. Too bad we probably couldn't get a decent job there. And I can't go anywhere until my kids are grown and gone, but man I hate winter here!!!

Morning Erika!

Are you sure this morning (and the rest of this week) couldn't convince you to look to live someplace warmer? :rotfl:

Seriously, Paul and I would love to stay here and probably will...but teaching jobs are really difficult right now. Even with family and kids, we will be applying for out of state next year. We have decided that we will try for something better here but if it doesn't happen, we will look elsewhere.

As hard as it would be to leave Minnesota...I think we would be fine once we got someplace new.

IF I had a job, which isn't likely, I would have no problem moving someplace warm. But my dd would say differently I think, she has a great group of friends, and I wouldn't want to disrupt that with only 4 1/2 years of school left.
That 10 degree high forecast for Thursday does not make it easy though, and being up in the north metro we are usually a couple degrees colder than that, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
