Don't forget to go and vote for our Cruise Name!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes:)

We're doing the Princess and The Frog movie too. Monday, December 7th in NYC. Figured it would be less crowded with tourists to hit American Girl, the 30 Rock tree and Bryant Park. We haven't told DD yet, still a surprise for her 8th birthday. I took her to get a haircut yesterday. This is a child with blonde ringlets all her life. She decided she wanted the Kate Gosslin cut! Looks so darn cute. No more tears trying to get a brush through those curls. Of course until it grows out. She loves her "makeover" as she calls it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Welcome to all the new families!

hey all,\\
Just got in, out this afternoon at MIL decorating gingerbread houses, the kidlets look forward to it every year, surgar overload!!!

Went over to a friends for drinks tonight so I think I will fall asleep real easy tonight lol

Sounds like everyone had a great day around here.

Hi Jen; if this old goat can figure out how to vote; everyone should be ok, LOL

don

That's like someone giving me directiions and ending it up "...It's right there - you can't miss it..." Ha - when that happens I could end up in the wrong state!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: (the joke of the family is that I can get lost in a phone booth...)
I am going to try it once I get through the SIX pages that accummulate in only one day! Wow.

BTW, Tess and I had a GREAT time in NYC. We went to the American Girl Place (which was not as painful a visit as in the past on my checkbook! LOL), tried for any lunch openings but no luck. Then to Radio City and The Christmas Show. Which was especially neat for Tess this year because one of her classmates' mom is a former Rockette and offered an after school dance class for them for 7 weeks (well as much as 4th and 5th graders could learn! LOL) - and she taught them the "Dance of The Wooden Soldiers" routine, including how they did the part where all the dancers falls back onto each other. Then we were off to Rockefeller Center - and skated for almost 2 whole hours. It was a beautiful day, not cold at all. And it wasn't too crowded. Unfortunately, the tree won't be lit til next week but it was up and the workers were up on scaffolds doing the final trimming. it looked huge to me. Then waaayyy down to Greenwich Village for lunch for the place that Tess picked "The Peanut Butter Company." Practically all peanut butter, all the time. It was down on Sullivan Street, right next to NYU and near Delancy Street. It was very tiny - but Tess loved it. She had a "peanut butter cup" -a toasted peanut butter and nutella sandwich (!! OMG, the calories! Thank God for all that skating). Then over to the Tenement museum and then back to Times Square (uh-oh - she liked the Sephora store more than Toys R Us!!!. Not sure I am ready for this) and finally, walked over to Bryant Park to watch some more skaters. Whew! Tess didn't even complain when I told her it was bedtime when we got home. She was a tired little pup. It was a fun mom/daughter day.

..now back to catching up on all that I missed..:surfweb: Have a great Sunday everyone!

If you get a chance and swing by the World of Disney Store (which is closing in December), please report back on anything of interest (what my wife like to call a "huge clearance sale")!!! We're headed in to NYC next weekend.

Sorry - we ran out of time an didn't make it up to the store. We wanted to. I am sure that I missed some great sales.

Sounds like a great day Jude! Glad you two were able to enjoy the day together. I am off to spend the day with Ben and my mom. We are going to the Macy's auditorium in Minneapolis to see their Christmas display.

Em can't come with us as her temperature is still 103° - Paul is bringing her to urgent care right now.

Have a great Sunday!

Poor girl, I can't believe she is still that sick! I hope they can give you some good news at urgent care.

I heard this is the cruise to be on. :woohoo: I booked the early bird special. Does anyone know if there is a ship layout somewhere? I have a room number but no clue where it is. I wonder what deck is the best for pushing a stroller in circles.

We are doing the Princess and Frog on Dec 2nd in NYC. I will let you know how it was.We are hitting Ruby Foo's for dinner afterward . I have a friend working Terrorist Security for the tree lighting. Looks like I will be standing very close to the tree when it gets lit. DD is super excited.

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm going to try and get more active on this thread. I really want to try and get to know all of you before we cruise.

So, as an introduction, I'm Melissa and I'm a 32 year old high school history teacher in Los Angeles. I'm single with no kids (much to my mother's delight ;)), and I'm working on my MA in history. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Melissa

Welcome Melissa!!

For those going to see the Princess and the Frog, my dds can't wait. We are soooo far away from NYC that they will have to wait until after Dec. 11. Have fun with your times in NYC!!!

Jen--I was a little disappointed that they did not have something different this year at Macy's. We always go the afternoon before thanksgiving and there are no crowds--we walk right in and usually walk it a couple of times.

Hope your dd gets better soon.

Does anyone have a fantastic side dish they make for Thanksgiving? I am on the hunt.

Have a great Sunday! Go Vikings!

I thought about seeing the Princess and the Frog at the Disney Studios in Burbank, but I decided it was just too much money. Plus, I already got to tour the studios at the D23 event over the summer (I highly recommend it!). So I'll be seeing the movie on opening day with the rest of the country.

As they say... there goes the neighborhood!

Welcome Cigy7. We cruised with him and his family in August. He has a lovely wife and children... The thread will never be the same! Just you wait and see. He picks on me eight ways from Sunday and has no idea how to pack for a cruise. He did do us one service, he ordered the bracelets for the cruise. Lucky for him he met me, I had the DCL logo!

Cigy, here's your link to the deck plan. Hopefully with the new ship you'll have more room to push that stroller in circles! I hope you didn't get one of those rooms right under the pool!

I went to the grocery store this morning. Shopping for turkey day! It would be cheaper to eat out! OMG! I did get all the trimmings. Now what?!? They look great on my kitchen counter!

I'll admit it, I'm a turkey virgin. I've never cooked Thanksgiving dinner.

Couple of questions....

I googled turkey (stop laughing) and the TV Food Network is very helpful! One recipe says you put an apple, onions and celery in the turkey. I don't want to know what used to be in that hole. Do you take the skin off the apple? Slice the onions or shove it in whole? I know you peel them. How about the celery? I know enough to take it out of the Dole bag! But, do you chop it? *** is poultry seasoning for? HELP!!! SOS!!!

Oh, dear God! This is going to be hysterical! What was I thinking?? The lady in the grocery store looked at me sideways when I asked if you defrost a turkey in the bathtub! I've seen that on t.v. it must be true, everything on t.v. is true.

I bought 4 jars of gravy just in case. I hid them from DH. He thinks I can't do this. I will prove that man wrong, or we'll be eating Hungry Man frozen dinners!
