August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

There's a small part of me that doesn't have a problem with the new restriction. One of the bigger problems DCL has always had is teenagers getting into their parent's stash.

It is not unusual for the teens to be up all night, getting drunk, and rowdy. My guess is the parents will be either less willing to share or will keep a better eye on what they have.

Mario and I have been thinking about using our rebooking to do the MR in 2013.

Has anyone done an MR cruise and is it worthwhile? :confused3 I mentioned it to my sister (the one who used to work for Carnival) and she said no way that the ports were awful.

I'm torn. The MR would be fun because we could add 3 days on and visit DL/DCA which none of us have ever been to, but I don't want to hate it either!

Any opinions??

I had booked it for last year but changed my mine to our 8/16 one after all of the negative comments I had heard. And since then more violence broke out causing DCL to avoid one of the ports (can't remember which one). But you know what, you can always still have a good time on the Wonder if you decided not to get off in a port that was getting mixed reviews. If you came across a good deal, I say go for it!!!!

We booked the 1/2/12 MR cruise (6 day--skips Mazatlan, which was the port with all the problems), mostly because it fits best into our travel plans-- the 8day Caribbean leaves 1 day too early and FL in early Jan was COLD the last 2 years. I'm looking forward to the 3 days at sea, and I have low expectations for the ports, so anything should be fine. I think both Cabo and PV are pretty heavy tourist/resort areas. There is an "all things MR" Sticky on the Cruise forum.

I can let you know when we get back in Jan... though I expect the 2013 dates will have come out by then.

That is an excellent point that I hadn't thought of before... and one that has NOT been mentioned yet on the Alcohol Policy thread.

We've been thinking about doing the same thing. But I have been worried about the itinerary.

My TA just got back to me with a "I'm not a huge fan of the MR, but pairing it w/ DL/DCA is appealing." A nice way to say don't do it? :confused3

I'm going to have to look at what is available and make a decision then I think. Do they announce the itineraries before they open them for booking at all?

He's on Roszel Rd.

I know it well, it's right where I am. The corporate park where I work is on a horseshoe shaped road called Alexander Park which both sides come out on Alexander Road. Roszel is a road off of Alexander Road about 2 minutes from my building. I take Roszel all the time to go to the post office, Lowes, Barnes & Noble, etc. That's pretty funny.

Sad news here today.....My mom went to the surgeon today. The cancer is much more invasive than they told her while we on the cruise.

Thank you, for all of your thoughts and prayers. This is just another reason why it saddens me that my children were unable to sit with their grandparents aka "their best friends" for dinner while on the cruise!!

Kristin - I am so sad for you and your mom. She is such an incredible lady and I feel blessed that I was able to spend part of my vacation getting to know her. Please tell your mom that we are thinking of her and are sending wishes for healing to happen quickly.

If there is ANYTHING I can do for you...please let me know. Big hugs to you my dear friend.

:grouphug: Sorry to hear this news. Hopefully, things will get better and they can cure your mom. I hope they had a nice time on the cruise. I'm sorry to hear Disney couldn't fix the dining.

Kristen, sorry to learn of yourmom's diagnosis. She's got a lot of people thinking good thoughts for her.

Well it looks like my town didn't fare well with the storms. Schools have been cancelled until next week and we've been without power since Sunday
. Hearing all kinds of crazy rumors that we won't get it back for up to 10 days!

Borrowed a small generator which is giving us hot water and refrigerator for now. Been going to bed early. Still a lot of closures and nothing to do with the kids. A lot of trees and dangling wires and I didn't think the storm was that bad-winter was worse but we still had power.

Wow Gina, I had no idea! I hope they can get your power back soon! Will school now get out later in the summer or have they not got that far yet in the plans? Where exactly are you?
