August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

Hope everyone is safe and secure!

Irene has been downgraded to a tropical storm now, so we will probably see 2-5" of rain and winds.

Trying to get a lot done in case we loose power!

My husband came home with a head cold and I am just getting it. My neice ended up with a fever and stomach bug the day after getting off the ship and spent the day in bed at Vero.

Hi Everyone!

Just wondering did anyone come home with a little bug? My DS & DH both had a day or two of a headache and nausea. Our friend came home with a bad cold and now I am all stuffed up and kind of feel run down.

Of course we could have picked these things up anywhere (WDW, plane, airport, car service, etc) but I was just curious.

Elena, glad you guys fared well! Good luck to those of you still dealing with it!

None of the 4 of us got sick on, or after our trip.

Hello Everyone! Glad to see so many people are still posting.

Deborah - Thank you for the update. I pray that your DD is doing much better. I was praying for the family when I heard the call for the stretcher team.

It was great meeting the people that I met. I wished I could have met more of you.

I also wished that I had more time to explore the ship. I did not get a chance to explore the ship like I wanted to. I guess that is another reason why I need to go another cruise. My TA rebooked for me.

I hope all are east coasters are safe and sound. We had minor damage to our home, a small tree in our front yard was blown down, and we lost power for a little while. It could have been worse so I am thankful.

We're still here! Irene didn't blow us away!!! We lost power last night around 5:30 and it just cam back on around 12:30 today. My brother in law that lives 2 doors down has a whole house generator so we were able to go over there and watch dvd's and make dinner and then breakfast again this morning. While we were over there the power came back on for the neighborhood so now I can begin my day.

As for sick on the boat, my son started complaining about a scratchy throat the day before we got off the ship and now has a cold. The rest of us are fine.

Hi Guys

Well I'm back, tired, depressed and very very cold. We have our central heating on :scared1:

It was great meeting you - sorry to those I missed.

Marco and Laura - you were brilliant dinner mates and really fun to be with! (BTW we did have Ranzil and Christina - who were fab)

Harry thanks for the meet at the Poly (your family are great) and I enjoyed bumping into you around the ship;)

Brenda - Thank you so much for organising the cabin tour:thumbsup2 I found it really fascinating and was amazed at some of the size of some ofthe rooms (I wanted your room:lmao:)

Sorry we did not make the group photo but we were at Remy's:rolleyes1

This was an amazing holiday and I've loved every single minute of it.

High points -

* My birthday on serenity bay -it was amazing
* Great new friends
*I was brave enough to do Forbidden journey and humgacowabunga at TL although you could probably hear my screams
*We booked a dummy date so hopefully 2013:rolleyes1
*AKV we loved it here

Low points -
Coming home:sad1: although the dogs have been so pleased to have us back - Caleb enjoyed his time at boot camp and is a reformed character - Bella really missed us and has spent the day glued to my side:hug:

Hope all is well with you and keep safe from Irene

Marsha, I enjoyed meeting you and Charles in line for Cap'n Jack, I only wish I would have known it was you sooner!!

Hope everyone made it through the storm ok..........We had a lot of rain but other than that we are ok here!! School was cancelled last night for Monday!!

Marsha...Did you visit the Roy Suite?

Funny thing was I cleared this with my wife, but not my 7 year old. :rotfl2: Sarah was at the kid's club during the open house when she was picked up early by sissy and brought back to the suite unbeknownst to us. She was very unhappy to find soooo many people in "her home". I had to take her down to Mickey's Mainsail, I promised to buy her a Jessie doll the night before, I thought then was an opportune time. :goodvibes I did get to meet some of our group but not sure if Marsha made it to the suite. I did she her at Palo though.

Regarding post-cruise illness, I came down with some sort of sinus cold while on the ship, starting on the Nassau day. I actually stayed on the ship the 2nd CC day since I figured the heat would make my cold worse (I have a low heat tolerance) and I knew we had 5 nights at WDW after the cruise.

Still felt a bit stuff the first day of our WDW trip, but cleared up after being off the ship for a day or two.

Irene update for us... In the end, it wasn't as bad as we were led to believe. Don't get me wrong - it was not pleasant - it just wasn't end of the world stuff.

We spent 30 minutes in the basement when we were alerted to a possible tornado in our area. That was the scariest moment of the night. Power went out around 3AM. It came on around 1PM and then went out again around 3PM?! :confused3 We, along with about 300K people in our area are still without power.

Lots of tree damage in the area and some flooding (thankfully not in our neighborhood). Sun is out now... iPad battery is running low.... off to clean debris from our property.

Of course we could have picked these things up anywhere (WDW, plane, airport, car service, etc) but I was just curious.

Bethany came down with a cough (probably post-nasal drip) during the last two days of the cruise which turned into a full blown cold by the end of our stay at WDW. She of course promptly gave me the cold so we were both coughing and blowing our noses the entire ride home!

Our two day trek home from Orlando was thankfully uneventful. The kids were fine in the back of the van w/ the dual DVD player and/or their DSi games kept the kids amused with almost no complaining or arguing!

We drove up through central Florida and took the inland route up through GA and the western edges of South & North Carolina until we hit 81 in Virginia. We didn't see any rain until late yesterday afternoon in Harrisonburg, VA. I'm glad we didn't attempt 95 with all the evacuations and storm.

The house was fine when we arrived home (around 10:30 last night) even though we had left all the bedroom and kitchen windows open. We would have arrived sooner, but stopped for groceries and dinner in Harrisburg...with no food in the house we needed to have something to eat and I wasn't sure if any of the stores closer to home would have anything left on the shelves!

The worst part of the trip was from Harrisburg to home down the PA Turnpike. Heavy rains and winds, but still manageable. There was a downed tree across the opposite side of the Turnpike that also blocked the left lane on our side...but that was the only damage we saw on the way home.

Not the way I wanted to end our WONDERFUL vacation...but it is what it is and I'm glad we are all home, safe & sound!

Sorry, we missed the party. Wish we would have known!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Chuck Maida had 56 rooms booked on our cruise, he contacted his clientle, I think via a mass phone message. Those in our group that are not All Season Travel clients were informed in a less formal and obviously less effect word-of-mouth approach since the final date and time was not determined until after we set sail. If I had the list our of group's staterooms maybe I could have figured out the phone system enough to send a mass message. Nah, who am I kidding, the phone system is a pain :lmao:

I was just teasing you Jeff....Hope you know I was just teasing you....Sounds like your TA had a lot of clients onboard!!

We missed it too-- Sea day came and went and I realized I never got the info from anyone. Another missed opportunity to meet folks. *sigh*

We have no power here, so I am down to just the phone. Had to take it in to work to charge it. At least the building has enough back-up power to keep the garage doors working.

Hey everyone! Busy weekend since getting home. I worked Friday, I have no clue how Saturday passed so quickly (unpacking some), this morning DH and I ran a 5K and today DD was in a parade. Now the weekend is almost over and tomorrow DH and I have to return to work. :sad1:

Glad to read that most of you living in on the east coast are hanging in there without much damage. I hope that anyone who is without power gets it back quickly.

We are trying to figure out our next cruise....it will help the pain of this one ending! :rotfl: Seriously looking at the Thanksgiving 2012 cruise because I hear that I have some friends going on that one! :rotfl2:

Just have to post that DS has been under the weather. He was really out of it the last day at WDW (Thursday) and now today he is miserable with cold like symptoms. I am hoping it passes quickly but he still has a week before school starts so we are good.

Absolutely. Yeah, Chuck has a nice following. When he first told me there might be as many as 200 coming through the suite he said, "are you sure you're okay with this?" :rotfl2:
