That is brilliant! It makes perfect sense, but without seeing the other side of the gate (or seeing a CM do it), I wouldn't have thought of it on my own!

I had a few extra magnets that I was never able to get to decks 11 & 12... I almost just left them stuck to the gate!

Love the idea of an Eastern! That will definitely be our next Caribbean trip (with MR, Alaska, and possibly out of NYC planned next).

I wouldn't have thought to do it either, when he did it I was like "Oh, that's a good idea!!!"

We love to spend the day on CC just floating and so I was worried about spending the money on the cabana as well but I will say it was some of the best money I spent on the trip! I think it helped that the first day on CC we did our running, snorkeling and running around. It was great to spend the 2nd CC day just enjoying it all!



My DH is really tall and just reached over the gate and turned the handle!

Sounds like there are a group of us that are interested in an Eastern for the summer of 2013! That would be so much fun if it works out!

Thanks for the well wishes. Right now we are experiencing heavy winds and rain from Irene.....lots of power outages (we are lucky so far, we still have power and internet!!! My friend a few blocks away from lost her power a little while ago! I'm sure we will lose it at some point.), curfews at the beaches, trees down, flooding, etc. We are also under a tornado warning. It should be by us around 2am. Our local station is doing something on bambuser?? I've never heard of that!

We have had the weather channel on pretty much the entire time we are home, since yesterday. We took a break to pay full price for Fright Night, that I could have seen for free on the ship LOL.

YEAH,,!! CONGRATS!! When are you going??!!

Not sure as to when yet....we are totally new to the DVC concept... Most likely will use our points for our yearly trek to Disneyland for mothers day...

We are headed to Hawaii at Christmas this year, but over to Maui.... Maybe next summer?

What a great picture. I am so sorry that I missed this. I was actually in the lobby just prior to the picture with my 1 year old, but he was very fussy and I had to take him for a walk.

I loved meeting many of you, and wish I could have met more. We will keep tuned into this board in hopes of a summer 2013 cruise with many of you again. (By then, my son will be older which will allow me some time to sit down and chat with you, instead of chasing him around.)

Just got home last night -- flight actually landed about 15 mins early!
I think we flew right over the storm - it was pretty bumpy the whole flight and DBF, who is NOT comfortable flying to begin with, was nervous, but did pretty well after a couple jack n cokes
now, they are talking about evacuating my area (They're saying south of montauk hwy, but i'm 1-1/2 blocks from there ) guess i'm on the way to Deer Park.
anyhoo...LOVE the group pic! I was on the balcony when you guys were taking it - had totally forgotten about the timing and such.
couldn't get into the mixology class, but anyone who was at the margarita/tequila tasting...yeah, that was ME who went legless getting off the barstool good times...good times
now that i'm back on the grid, i'll start working on our trip-report - if i can remember it

Good morning all! It's raining pretty good here in southern Maryland but not too much wind yet. I am definately in for an Eastern in August of 2013, I have 2 dummy dates that I can book and I am waiting to see how much the cruises are when they are released this fall. I can't believe how much they are charging for cruises now that the Dream has come out. I'm also thinking about the Eastern on the Magic this Dec. since my kids have almost 2 1/2 weeks off for Christmas break. It's twice as much as I payed for last years NYE cruise so I'm really trying to justify the price.

WE had lovely tablemates ( Helen and Dave ) and truly enjoyed our meals together !!
Our server ( from India ) - can't remember the name - was kind and I think he did his best , though he was not very ... talkative !!
The assistant ( Anne from Canada ) became more and more friendly as evenings passed ... She remembered our preferences and was always fast - but the last morning - maybe they had "issues" in the kitchen ...

Helen and Dave were in a hurry - their town car was waiting ... and had to rush ... She apologized though ...

I'd say we had a good service !!

Our cabin steward - Freddy - was always nearby ; I asked for more body-lotion and found 3 new bottles when coming back to our room ... He would always stop and have a quick chat EVERY TIME we met , even when he was inside a room , he would come out and "shout " WHERE ARE YOU HEADING ? WAS THE ISLAND HOT ? ENJOY THE NIGHT !! YOU'VE GOT NEW GIFTS !!!! and such ...
WE really liked him.

are you sure you didn't have Ranzil and Christina from Canada? We had them and, although we missed 2 nights at dinner, we loved them and made it a point to ask to keep them for the second leg of our B2B.

I am hoping the pricing starts out reasonable as it did with the Dream. Back on November 1st I booked onboard the Magic adjoining cat 4As with 3 adults and 1 child on the 08/25/12 7 day eastern for $7,600. Now booking a single Cat 4A is 9,334. So although the pricing today is insane it is possible when the rates first open that they will be reasonable.

A couple of questions... how did you know the characters were coming? Does it make any sound? Does it "turn off" at night (do you have to pull a curtain)?

I agree with Jen... the Cabana was a great way to do the double dip! We had it the first day, and it was so nice to have those cold towels after the 5K! We spent the day on the adult beach, floating in the water, and lounging. It was great to have the hosts just bring the bikes to us, then we just took them out for a spin when we felt like it. It was also nice to have the bar service folks come directly to the cabana. For a group of 6, it was perfect, because we always had a spot to come back to. We joked that on the second day we were "roughing it", but it worked out ok, because we spent time on the family beach, did the water slide and the snorkeling lagoon, and my parents had a massage. We actually left CC early, whereas on our cabana day we stayed until the very end of the day.

I don't know if I would get it for just the 2 of us, but for a larger group it was perfect!

The northern most feeder bands have reached us. All airports closed as well as all other mass transportation. We have secured everything, stocked up, and hoping for the best. Be safe everyone in the area.
