Busy day here...

Jen-- great questions.

1) Pirate night-- we'll enjoy the festivities but will be dressed in our normal "cruise casual" dinner attire. The boys are now 15 and 11 so are at that age they won't dress up. I'll have to ask the 11 yr old if he would want to wear his CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow hat/wig combo from his Halloween costume a couple of years ago and not the full costume.

2) Semi-formal night: the boys will be wearing nice slacks, button down shirts and ties. DH???? As for me -- I haven't decided yet. I have my black dress which packs nicely, but, will change my mind if the right dress yells "Sherri, come buy me...."

3) cover-up. I just realized yesterday that with 2 CC days and a sea day, there will be a lot of bathing suit time. And, we'll be spending time on the ship during Nassau day as well. I talked to the boys about shopping this weekend for another pair of swim trunks for them. Think outside the box for a cover-up as well- you might find a dress in the dress department that might be the right thing.

So excited!

We have finally decided and booked our pre and post cruise stays. We'll be staying the 3 nights before the cruise in Cocoa Beach and for the night after the cruise, we're renting DVC points and staying at AKL Savannah View. Great deal! Can't believe that DH agreed. :cool1: DS11 doesn't know it but we were able to get ADR at BOMA for that night. That's his favorite WDW restaurant.

Now, to find a rental car at a decent price. Rental cars are so much more expensive than last year.

I just booked through Budget today and felt I got a pretty good rate. I booked a 1-night rental from MCO to port (about $57.00) and a 12 hour rental from port to WDW (about $41.00). Prices are really high this year. I would have liked to have rented a car for the whole time we are at WDW but just couldn't justify the price since we are staying at the Poly and transportation there is really good.

Question about the FE's - are we delivering them on certain days based on the group?

Janeanne

I was going to check with our group and let everyone know I would like to pass my gifts out ASAP as it is something that I feel will be useful on the cruise (no more details!). :goodvibes

Dollar charges a $40 one way drop off fee when renting at the Port and dropping off at MCO so you got a good deal. :thumbsup2

I'm having our friends over tomorrow night for a little pre-cruise planning session. Our biggest decision will be whether to do a private car back to the airport or spring for Disney transfers. Let me add that our flight is 12:20 pm so the added peace of mind of onboard check in and luggage handling may be worth the added expense to us. Any thoughts?

Hi Kristin! How is your week going? It is actually pretty nice here this week and I might go hang out with some girlfriends tomorrow at the pool!

I saw the clothes on that web site...so cute! The girls will look adorable!

I am really struggling to find dresses this summer - both sundresses and summer semi-formal type ones. I keep saying a trip to the MOA is in order but I had better get at it.

Have FUN hanging out with your girlfriends at the pool. Is it warmer today??

Ann Taylor Loft has really cheap summer dresses online. I got a shirt today for$2.33 today!!

Janeanne,

I was thinking that we could assign days or just let everyone deliver whenever they want to since it is a short cruise...Thoughts??

Did you get my PM??

How are we going to change our transportation to the port at this late date with the change of the port terminal opening??:scared1::scared1:

I always vote for delivering whenever you want. I never know when we'll get the chance, and it often depends on when my kids nap, or when I can get them to help deliver..

Thankfully, just last week/weekend, we decided to completely change up our pre-cruise plans, but we had stuck with the option of still driving to the port, so we could be there *early*. Now I know we don't need to rush that morning....

I read yesterday on the Part 1 of 8-16 that someone posted a website. Is it still active? I sent a PM to the owner.

Thanks

Steve

WELCOME ABOARD!! Feel free to join in!!

YAY!

We are right behind you!

I've been thinking a lot recently about how we are going to pack w/ our trip chopped into tiny pieces.

I am pretty sure I have it figured out in a way that we don't have to load and unload ALL of the luggage every day! :thumbsup2 Almost all of it will be coming on the cruise w/ us and for WL but we won't need the big stuff all the other days.

I will have to do laundry on the ship though, I'm thinking the last day or so.

I'm getting SO much more excited. We are paying off our final payment for our WDW portion of the trip this week and this weekend I'm getting out the Disney box and sorting through what we will and will not bring.

Due to our crazy schedule, I will need to have us mostly packed AND the kids ready for school (dd starts 5th grade the day after we return and ds the day after that...for KINDERGARTEN!) by the end of July...TWO weeks before we leave!

I don't know how I will get it all done...but I will! :yay:

Two words....packing cubes!!! :rotfl::rotfl2: Everyone says they are good for organizing your packing!! I can't wait to find out if they really do!!
My DS starts school a few days after we get back too. I'm taking classes at the community college and my classes start while we are on the cruise!!! OOPS!!

;););)

I have WONDERFUL NEWS TO SHARE too !!!!

I've JUST NOW checked our DCL online check-in :
WE HAVE OUR :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: stateroom WITH MAGIC PORTHOLE !!!

YAY for getting your room assignment!!!

I'm going on the August 16th cruise. So excited! Can't wait to finally sail on the Dream! This is my first post in this thread. I was wondering... What is everyone looking forward to the most for this cruise?

WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Hi all! It's been way too long since I've posted here. Never enough hours in the day. So, I changed positions at my job to allow myself more "me" time, which, of course, will allow for more disboard time. :dance3:

We're all getting very excited about this year's vacation!

We've finally decided what we're doing pre-cruise as we'll arrive in Florida on 8/13. We're going to stay in Cocoa Beach and just chill! Well.... it is Florida in August.....I don't know how much chilling we'll be doing.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys as I now have more time! YEAH!

Welcome back!!!

My kids start right after we get back too. I can't wait for the cruise but at the same time I know that when we return then we will be back to the school routine!!:scared1::scared1:

I know, once we get back summer will be over!!:scared1::eek:

I am new to this Forum and Wanted to send a PM to Get in on the website but when I tried to PM it told me I did not have enough Posts to PM

We (Me, DH and DS Age 5) will be aboard

I have two Questions How Can I get access to the Website Setup and What is the Fish Exchange ?

WELCOME!!!

Alright - it is time to talk about one of my favorite things....clothing for the cruise! :woohoo:

1. Pirate night: Who is dressing up? Normally we go all out but this year I am thinking about something more casual pirate. Then I think that I will regret it! :confused3 Share your plans for pirate night dress...are you going all out or have you decided to do casual pirate or do you skip dressing up all together?

We don't usually dress up in Pirate attire.
2. Semi-Formal Night: I have said many times before how sad I am that there is no formal night. I think we will be going semi-formal but leaning towards formal. I want to look for floor length gowns for me and Emily but not big formal ones...again, long with a casual feel to them. I want DS and DH to be in nice clothes with a tie at least. Who has picked out their semi-formal outfits and what are you wearing?
We aren't real formal people, but I have this long summery dress I'm going to wear. It's not very formal. The guys will probably wear polo's and khaki's

3. Swim Cover-Up: Alright, after a couple of cruises I have finally learned that a swim cover-up is going to be a key piece of clothing. I am looking around but don't see a whole lot. I know I want something other then just a skirt wrap around thing. What do you do about hanging out in your swimwear? If you have a cover up, what does it look like and where did you find it?
Last year I got a coverup from Sam's. It's just a short, casual dress. Easy to throw on!!

Can't wait to hear what everyone is thinking! :goodvibes I love to dream about all the fun clothes I need to get for the cruise! For me, all the different outfits is part of the fun of the cruise!

Oooh....that would NOT work for me! I have to start packing soon. Then I keep adding to the piles. Then I buy more because I am sure we don't have what we need. Then I hear what others are doing and buy even more because I am sure I am not going to have the right things. Then there is a sale for things I really wanted but didn't think I needed....do you see the trend here? This is why I totally over pack!
I overpack too! Maybe these new cubes will help!!:rotfl::rotfl2: Some of mine shoud come tomorrow! I'll let you know what I thin when they come.

Actually the whole pirate thing is lost on us. We never got into the movies (saw the first one, didn't care for it) so we never dress for pirate night. Kinda hope, after 4 movies, that the pirate theme is close to the end of its run. :goodvibes

We were never really into the pirate thing either!!

I guess that is true why rush then in the morning. But my only fear is that if we wait to get there then when we actaully get there the lines will be HUGE!!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! The funny thing is that while at the hospital, I told DH that we were a very accident group. :goodvibes so, even I was thinking about this group. The surgery will tomorrow, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi all,

I just got back from visiting my mil at the hospital - thankfully she made it through the operation and is now starting on the long road to recovery. Dave and I really appreciate all the prayers and messages of support. :grouphug:She is getting a little stronger each day and today they are trying to let her sip some water. Each day she is getting less tubes and they are able to remove them. Thank you so much, I am hopeful we can make our vacation - I would like to say thank you in person.

Hope you are well -

Take care x :flower3::grouphug:

glad your mil is doing better. Hoping she has a speedy recovery.

I was already at 11-11:30 for my time, they haven't bumped me any later yet. If that's the case I guess I'm first now LOL!

Why do I read these boards????? After reading this I realized I had to get a swim cover up. Another person mentioned Lands End and I found they have some nice cover-ups on sale for $13.50. I also found code SALEAWAY (pin 4523) that will give free shipping with no minimum purchase until 6/30.

Sorry to tempt others to buy, but If I am going to be broke I need to take some people down with me! :thumbsup2

Ok, first you post the cute little bag, now this? You are not doing much to make friends!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Just kidding, as you can see I am easily pushed over the shopping edge!!!

You will all know me when you see me on the cruise. I will be the one sitting by the pool with no drink, not participating in excursions, and without souvenirs since I will have spent all my money on "cruise necessities". :rotfl2:
