My kids only have 20 more days of school left. We start the Wed. after we get off the curise so I'll only have 2 days from when we get home to get them into school mode.

For about 5 minutes, just now.... there was this strange looking, bright object in the sky.... could it be..... the sun?!?!

OHHH, It probably was the sun, for a minute I thought it was a UFO because everytime I looked up at it it disappeared

Busy as usual, how about you?? We miss you guys, and cannot wait to see you in less than 90 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matthew only has 5 days of high school left, I think I will just die now...

Ds has kindergarten orientation on the afternoon of the 29th and his first day of school is the 30th.

Having a great time tonight watching my Rockies absolutely crushing the Phillies

Got some photos from Beth (tinkerbelltwins) and Steve who boarded the Dream today for a quick 3 day cruise w/o the twins. I guess they just wanted to check it out first.

Actually Steve wanted to take Beth on the Dream for her birthday.

CONGRATS, to Matthew. What are his plans for after high-school??

He is starting at our local community college studying computer networking and technology.

We fly home the day the cruise ends and Matthew starts college the next day !

How the heck am I supposed to think about FE gifts when I have to plan a darn grad party? HELP!!

And those darn extra pounds have had a stay of execution due to the altercation my toe had with a suitcase wheel....

Hi guys - I was wondering when do you break for the summer is it soon? Sadly we dont break up till July 22nd Work always gets crazy this time of year We go back September 5th.

My DS gets out of school on June 10 and goes back Aug. 25, the Thu. after we get back from the cruise!

I'm happy to say that my daughter Amanda informed me I was reading the wrong report on Remy, so who else is doing Remy with me?

Anyone parasailing? I may do it. just a little chicken---well maybe a lot. My girls have parasailed before, but I'm thinking of it because on CC I feel I trust it more.

DS and I are doing parasailing at 1:30 on the first CC day!! Come join us! It's fun! He and I did it on our last cruise and loved it. It's so peaceful up there!

As Amanda pointed out - colleges pretty much are wrapping up their spring semesters now. As for the rest of the education system - it varies across the US. The NE generally wraps up mid to late June with some districts going longer to make up snow days.

Yep! We don't usually have snow days!!! Although we did get on e this year!!! I live near the beach.Sorry about all the bad weather y'all have been having! It was sunny and nice here today!! Mid-70's!

Our elementary schools are changing to trimesters next year - same September - June schedule, but broken into trimesters instead of quarters. Are others here in the US seeing the same thing?

How do trimesters work? We have quarters.

My daughter is in 4th grade and our district has been doing trimesters for the elementary schools (not sure about the upper grades) since she was in kindergarten.

It has worked well for us so far. I like our grading system as well. Instead of the traditional letter or number grades, they use the following in combination w/ specific goals:

E = Exceeding
M = Meeting
A = Approaching
B = Beginning

I prefer this for elementary school. Tells me she is and isn't proficient at specific goals & objectives, and the school district has a complete list of the specific objectives where they illustrate specifically what E, M, A, & B look like for each.... so we can work on things at home if we need to!

Congrats to Matthew!!! I'm taking classes at our local commuity college and they start the week we're on the cruise!!! Oops! I'm missing my first week of classes. I also have to take summer classes which started this past Tues!!! UGH!!! And they are already keeping me really busy!!!

I won't be busy after we come back from the trip, but I will be crazy busy leading up to the trip.
August 8-13 I will be at youth girl's camp that I am in charge of. I will come home that Saturday, do laundry, finish packing and head to AZ on Sunday to drop off DD to spend some time with brother, sisters, nieces and nephews while we are gone. Then Monday we will fly out of Phoenix at 5AM so we can arrive in Orlando around 2PM. Whew!
Not only do I have to plan this trip FEs, t-shirts, etc, But I also have to plan the camp at the same time.
I don't know what I was thinking!!
