Ha ha , I'm not even on the cruise and I'm thinking about rebooking on board;)

This is what I posted on the main board - just wondered if any of you had any advice?

Hi,

Just to say we are DVC Members from the UK (members since 1999);)

We tend to do a 'big' vacation every 2 years.

This year we are staying on WDW then having a Cruise on the Dream, followed by more wdw time ;)

Whilst on the Dream I need to rebook .

It would have to be a dummy date as not sure what cruises are available for 2 yrs time

DH wants to rebook using points - I know its possible but is it feasible using a 'dummy' date?

If we book a dummy date using DVC points what happens - do we have to confirm anything with member services as we will be in wdw 6 days after the cruise.

How easy is it to move a dummy date and do we get changed the $95 fee each time?

I would really appreciate any help on this matter.

Thanks

Hello all!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! It is starting to get pretty crazy here. I am having a hard time sleeping with everything I have to worry about! I have a long list of things to do before I leave for girls camp (try to get all the medical forms, print a bunch of stuff out, buy gifts for the cooks, plan games and a team building activity pack everything including containers full of stuff to bring up there, etc), plus trying to get things ready for the cruise. I am literally just going to have hours to get ready to go when I get back. I will probably get home Sat. at around 2-3pm, do laundry and make sure I have everything packed, and then we leave early the next morning! :scared1: I have also been talking to those we are hiring for DD's wedding and making plans for that. By the time the crusie gets here, I am really going to need a vacation!

Safe travels Laura and Marco!! I can't wait to meet you!!

Candy, you sure are going to need a vacation. Hang in there!!:grouphug::grouphug:

:):goodvibes
Making a beer run-have to rolling cooler all set. FYI, I looked up ABC Liquors yesterday and they are open 9 am-11 pm. Just down the road from CI&S, Radisson and Residence Inn. Looks like you'd still be able to go in the morning with the later arrival times, or head there if the pre-cruise meets need an adult beverage run.;)

My BIL gave us these pre-mixed pouches from Malibu Rum-Mojito and Rum Punch. I haven't tried them yet but they look very convenient to bring onboard. They have a built in spigot and look like a giant juice pouch (1.75 L) Not sure about any other flavors.

I have seen those in the package store. Let me know how they are...

We should have organized a "mixed drinks meet". It would be sort of like a pot luck dinner where each person brings a different mixed drink and we all share. LOL.

One question on the beer margaritas, do you need to drink the entire pitcher soon after you make it (because of the carbonation going flat)?

A drink meet now that would have been FUN!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

DITTO!!! :scared1:

Now you've all got me stressed about stopping for libations pre-boarding. I need to get through the big decisions first like car rental (cheaper, but more involved) or town town car (van) (more expensive but much easier). I've cancelled a bunch of hotel ressies. I think I'm down to 2 now. ;)

I'm a bit peeved at Disney right now. I think they sold my cell phone number. The dining is the only place I've used that # & I got a random text yesterday. I also can;t get onto their site to make new dining ressies. It gets caught in the loop of searching. They really need an 800 #. lol

That stinks about your cell-phone number I am sorry to hear that!!

I actually like the taste of SG margaritas -- so long as there is some salt around the rim of my glass! :upsidedow:):upsidedow:)
:thumbsup2:)

I don't tend to like drinks w/ hard liquor in them... what is in a Kooler?

I may be bringing some of my Lindeman's Framboise with me from PA. Not sure where to get it in Florida. I don't generally like beer either but this stuff SO doesn't taste like beer!

Our docs arrived today for both DCL & WDW. :cheer2:

Bethany is emptying out her backpack getting ready to pack it for the trip!

My girls have their back-packs packed too...LOL!!

The lindemans sounds good!!

Doc Dance! We got our luggage tags for Magical Express with docs for our resort stay at POFQ!! Rcvd Cruise docs earlier but glad to get resort tags!!! :)

CONGRATS!!

I took my DD for ice cream today and this little shop is selling DOLE PINEAPPLE WHIPS!! I asked if they're the same ones that Disney sells and she said yes. So, if you're in Milford, CT go to Cone Zone on the Post Rd off I-95 Exit 36.

Yummy, we may have to check this place out the next time we are at the beach!! Thanks, for letting me know!!:goodvibes:):thumbsup2

All my son's khaki and dress pants are too short so he has nothing to wear to dinner each night, but I am worrying about what mixed drink ingredients I need to purchase. :rotfl:

I don't see any problems. :rotfl: If your DS is like mine, they'd rather me be doing it cause they do not like going shopping for clothes.

I always get so excited getting ME stuff--starts making it so real.

Hello all I will be on the Aug 16th Disney Dream.

I am so excited, however our plans got alittle changed today because our party of 25 went online to complete our online check in and we saw the port arrival times. We got the 2:00 slot which is horrible because we had a a private bus taking us there for 10:30 am we were able to switch it until 12:00 but we are now afraid we are going to have to wait around.

Why didn;t they have more info about this.

DOes anyone have any words of advice.. SHould we still aim to get there at 10:30??

Hope everyone has fun in the next 16 days getting ready.

Concierges has promised me a call back to let me know how "smoothly" things go for the Aug. 2nd cruise. I will report back when I hear from them!!

I would check with DVC-Member Services. You would not want to have to pay the $95.00 fee each time!!

safe travels laura & marco!! See you soon!!

Harry, we are almost at 250 pages!! Are you going to start our new thread? It has been kind of "tradition" for you to start them!! Only seems fitting that you start Part # 4!!

Just got my fish extender and lanyards yesterday. Now if I can only finish my FE gifts. We leave in 10 days and we don't even have the suitcases out yet. MY DH is usually packed 3 weeks early. He said today is a packing day.:)

I'm working on my FE's today too, I bought them and made them a year and a half ago, but I still need to bag and tag them. nothing like waiting till the last minute! :thumbsup2 I went out and got myself a pirate costume yesterday. I had one but it was not very comfortable, it was a halloween costume. It used to be easier to pack for Disney back when I made matching t-shirts for the trips. They would just stay in the suitcase after I washed them ready for the next trip to Disney. This time we have to wait to pack because we are wearing "normal" clothes.

We're on the 12-3 I know there was one spot open on ours when I last checked. Brenda (hgb4) is on the 9:30-12:30

Hmm... I contacted the Segway folks, and they said that since our ship docks at 9:30, we cannot do the 9:30AM segway tour. Have others heard otherwise?

 I just went to put the finishing touches on some of my FEs (they needed to dry), but they all came out crapy. I need to start ALL OVER AGAIN! :scared1: I am so frustrated right now. Just needed to vent.

Kids camped out at our swim club last night with DH. DH is sleeping on the couch and princess is whining. She needs a nap, BIG time. ;)

I forgot to add... I got an email that ebags.com is having a one day sale today. 30% off. The cubes end up being 20.99 which is only $1 more than we paid when the bulk of us ordered (before they raised the prices b/c of the demand). I don't think there's a code - just the sale prices. :confused3

Here is what it says on the DVCmember website:
"Currently, you may request a reservation for a Disney Cruise Line® vacation that has a sail date on or before July 31, 2013, some sailings may not be available for booking at the 24-month window."

There is no benefit to rebooking on board if you are going to use points.

If you are going to use points and cash, you may be able to make a cash dummy reservation and then convert it to points and cash once the "real" date becomes available. But, I don't think that you will get any on-board-rebooking discount/credit on the "cash" part if you are splitting with points.

Just call for points as soon as the cruise you want becomes available for booking, because they only allow a certain number of points to be used per cruise.

You will pay $95 anytime you move the points around-- once you convert them to a cruise reservation, they are in a different "category" that regular points.

If you want to run your specific scenario, I would call DVC. You may also need to call DCL to find out about the rebooking discount and how it would apply to points/cash reservation.

In 2007 I rebooked on board using a cash deposit.
On board the ship the cruise consultant had a discount chart for the points if rebooked on the ship.
Later on when I decided to use points instead of cash for the same reservation DVC member gave me a discount on the points needed for the cruise I had rebooked on board. The only problem was that it definately was way too many points to spend on a cruise (even Disney's)
