I don't think it's a bad idea to pack a favorite light jacket or something like that. Of course that sure would make a souvenir purchase too. :thumbsup2

Agreed! Something tells me that a jacket will cost a bit less than one of those Dooney and Bouke bags that I've been eyeing. If I do purchase another one, I'll have Missy help me as she has a good eye for spotting the well placed designs on them. We wait to see your family again on the cruise and then afterwards. BTW: the girls need to email Sarah back ... it has been one of those crazy middle of summer weekends. :)

I know this sounds crazy, but are any of you packing any long sleeve things (like sweatshirts, shrugs and shawls)? Last October my kids and I wore sweaters in the dining room and in the theatre because it was freezing cold. I know that Florida and the Bahamas will be HOT HOT HOT in August, but should I bring some long sleeve stuff too?

Beth

Call me crazy, but I'm never far from a light sweater, even pack one for waiting in lines inside at WDW and for restaurants. I am always freezing! Last cruise my friend and I were so cold during a show we bought sale sweatshirts from shop outside theater. I'm usually not cold in our stateroom, just a few of the public spaces, although later at night the decks could get chilly/windy. I'm planning on spending at least one night by one of the outdoor bars :thumbsup2

I always pack light sweaters/shrugs for the evenings: the dining rooms and theaters are well-airconditioned, and the upper decks can be windy, and it feels cold to me, even if it is still humid.

Ah, the weekend is over and it feels like I didn't even get one!

I've mentioned before that I'm a certified car seat tech. This weekend Chevy sponsored a huge test drive event in the parking lot of Citizen's Bank Park in Philly where customers could come and test drive their vehicles.

To help families test drive safely, they had a car seat tech at each tent with car seats ready to install them for the families for each test drive.

It was fun, but tiring. Out in the sun, installing seats for two days. I was at the Chevy truck course so I didn't get as many families as some of the other courses...but I'm pretty sure I did about 40 or 50 installs this weekend!

Dh and kids had a great time without me, but I'm glad it is over. Now back to packing and organizing around my regular job this week!

Kids in FL go back in August-- I think almost all of them are back by the 15th. Morning commute on I-4 is terrible, so I'd leave significant extra time.

Most kids in FL public schools dont go back until 2 weeks before labor day. I am in Hillsborough County (Tampa area) and we start on August 23rd.

Crazy expensive out of Bradley for our week to Orlando. They have flights routed through San Juan for $800 (return flight only).:scared1:

Out of Westchester isn't so bad, around $250... Checked going to Nassua (friends own at Atlantis Harborside) and it was $500+ Guess I'm waiting...

I ended up booking it. It was a bit high but we really wanted to go at this time of year!!

Wow! nice swingset, remember the old metal ones that we grew up with? This is much nicer than those.

Kristen, thanks for posting about the groupon. Now I have to decide if it's worth the extra $12 to rent a towncar and get dropped off at the port. It would be a little more cramped because we will have the driver with us (5 instead of 4) and we wouldn't be able to stop and get our booze on the way (but I could get the booze when I'm at the store earlier in the trip with my rental car) hhhmmmm decisions, decisions!:confused3 What should I do?

Terri, call and check with the company. A friend of mine said the grocery stop costs extra if you go over 15 minutes. Not sure if that is something you need or not!!:confused3:confused3

great video!!

Thanks! He finished 3rd overall in the meet. It was kind of bittersweet - it will be the last time he ever swims this particular meet as he has reached the max age limit:sad1: He used to be our "little boy".

I am glad to hear I am not the only one who booked even though the prices seemed a bit high. I paid $269 out of Boston for MA Feb vaca week. We typically fly SW, but I am getting annoyed with no assigned seats. We need 6 seats, and prefer to all sit together. Paying early bird check would cost me $120, and now that so many use that, going on at 24 hours never gets you an "A" pass anymore. I am nervous that SW will come out next week much lower, but at least the kids will have tv's to watch.

Had to search way back on thread #2 for the discussion we had regarding a day pass to the Hilton in Nassau!! Anyway... we have decided to go with the day pass here. For us it came down to the pool - we like to be able to swim around and that just isn't going to happen onboard.

Did anyone else opt for the Hilton?

That is Awesome that he was able to finish 3rd. The girls got Keira's email. I will have them respond soon. We need to plan a day in the city as well. We have a gift card to eat in the city too!!

I agree the price was high but I was totally on the fence about what to do......:confused3:confused3 I am going to wait for Feb. break to book on SW since I have such a HUGE credit with them. Plus we do not get the full week off in Feb........

I had forgotten that we had all discussed this before.. I am going to have to look into it....Was there a specifc web-site that you booked it through?? Or directly through the Hilton??

My family will be there and so will Kim's (eyesformickey) family. Glad you will be joining us. :cool1::cool1:

I'm at the girls' tennis lesson so can't access my trip file. I booked through an island marketing site (the same company Kim and I used when we were at Nachi in Cozumel). So do a web search and you might find it. When I get home I will send you the info....:surfweb::surfweb:
