I agree 5 is a bit early but I also am thinking 9 is a bit late for my kids. But I guess that is better than 5. I have to say these changes and the shortened itinerary makes me wonder if I should rethink this cruise.....I hate that Disney is doing this for the shows. It really stinks!!

I kinda understand what they are doing though. With this many more people, they are trying to make it so everyone can see the shows. They added a 3rd show each night, and they are doing their best to try to make it fair. I have heard you can try going to a different show if there is room, but with early dining you wouldn't make the 7 anyway. 9 isn't really all that late, the shows are only about 30 minutes long aren't they?

I understand it too but I do not like it. I thought the shows were more like an hour or so. Honestly, if my kids are too tired to go then I will not go to the shows. But with the shorter cruise and this change it just kind of stinks. I hope the shows are worth the wait. Wonder, what time dining will be now??

We are off to a fair today in our town. The kids are all excited they get to dunk their teachers in the dunk tank today..

Even though this is our first DCL cruise, the planner in me really likes the new show time schedule.

We have late dining and have been assigned the 7pm show.

This works out really well... don't have to get ready super early, can see the show together as a family and then go together to dinner where the kids can eat quickly and then scoot off to the kids club if they get bored.

It's all good!

Wow am I late in joining this thread! I don't know why I haven't sooner - booked it on opening day last year, lol.

I will be sailing with DH, DD17, DD13, DS11, and DS9. We have sailed on the Wonder twice, and I have the good fortune of sailing on the Christening cruise of the Dream on 1/19. That is a two-night cruise, and then I am back onboard on the 23rd for 3 nights with my family for a conference. Oldest dd can't go because of exams, but the others are excited for a bonus chance to sail.

We will fly down from NY on the 13th and are at Kidani for three nights pre-cruise. We'll probably have to come straight home after the cruise, though free dining does tempt me....

I'm not sure I'll ever have a chance to read through two threads worth of messages, so don't mind me if I jump in!

Hello all!

I am feeling a bit of Mom sadness today. My wee baby boy is two! I can't believe that he is a toddler and no longer a baby!

Anyway, just thought that I would share. I am sure a lot of you have been there! We have having a family celebration tonight, then because of scheduling, we are having a get together with friends at the end of the month. Luckily, he is too young to realize that we are having his party so long after his birthday. :) Probably the last year we can get away with it, though!

Enjoy that afterparty!

Received an email from our TA that we have been assigned the 5 pm show with early dining. I really don't know how I feel about this. Confused really. My kids are young, 5 and 2 next year, so maybe the 5 will be good but that sure will cut down on shore excursion times. We have never been to CC so I don't think i am thrilled about this. I know my daughter will be all about dressing up and the shows... she is a little girl through and through!

I don't think it will be that bad! I mean it is really only an hour early before the dinner time, and you will find that there is plenty of time to do stuff at Castaway Cay. Especially with the two days there. Depending on what you do in Nassau, that could be a huge pain, though. Either way, With little ones I would think that 5pm is better than 9pm! Of course, I am just going by my eight year old and two year old. I don't expect that my two year old will sit through the show anyway as he is a little guy on the move!

Now, I don't know where you are from. If you are a Left Coaster, that would put your show and dinner at 2pm and 3pm. Late seating and the 7pm show might be better!

Thanks for making me feel better. I do think the 5 pm show would be ok. My kids are night owls and up late... my little guy is still up now and wired but I know he don't be taking his 4 hour afternoon nap next summer. I think I will ask to waitlist the 9 pm show and if it happens it does and if not then oh well. All will be good:goodvibes afterall... this is dcl.

We're back from our 14nt WBTA cruise on the Magic, and can now start to focus more on this trip. I must say that we had an incredible trip, and the 400+ DISers that we had onboard made up 22% of the total cruise passengers and really created a community within a community since you couldn't move without seeing someone wearing the custom lanyards, pins, wristbands or shirts that we had made for that sailing.

I have a feeling that this cruise will be a start contrast from that one, since there were only 240ish kids on the WBTA cruise, (which was a big difference from our last cruise which was a kids sail free cruise with sold out kids programs.) On the WBTA, the adult pool and beach were much more crowded than the Mickey pool and family beach, which was very nice for us. Plus the lines were managable for characters, shows and other kid focused activities. The kids in the Club/Lab got very close attention from the counselors, and there were lots of empty tables on our Main dining rotation which was really odd. Given how quickly this cruise sold out at the lower levels, bodes for a very full cruise!

I'm also confused, but am currently leaning toward the 9pm show with early dining. As mentioned above, we just got off the Magic on Saturday. We had early dining, and our kids were 3 and 6. We (kids and adults) had a lot of activities at 2 or 3pm, which meant that we often weren't getting the kids down for naps until 4pm, then had to wake them up at 5 or 5:30 to get dressed for dinner. Unfortunately, to make it through the late show, the kids needed to nap (we sometimes napped too!) To make a 5pm show, we'd have to start dressing around 4pm, so you could head to the theatre at 4:30 or 4:45 to get a seat. That would cut out any afternoon activities, and wouldn't likely buy us much usable time since we may not partake of many of the late night activities in lieu of the show. Since I assume dinner would come right after the show, I doubt we'd have time to dress for dinner between the show and dinner.

Sometimes I think the late dining would make sense, then I see folks still at dinner at 10pm or later and know our kids would never make it that late, and I don't want to have to feed them early and have them spend dinner in the club/lab while we eat. I'll see what everyone's feedback is on the early cruises to see which time is working out best for everyone.

Hi

Welcome to our new comers and wb to those who have been on vacation:thumbsup2

Im starting to get far too excited about this cruise especially since we are 10+months out:rotfl:

I think booking our flights last week has really kick started my drive and enthusiasm.

Im busy researching lots of different elements eg airport hotels & parking, Harry Potter world. its all good:thumbsup2

Well its a start of a new week so have a good one everyone

Happy Monday morning! It is a rainy day here in So. MD. I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed week.

Heard from our TA today, we were assigned 6 pm dinner and 9 pm show-PERFECT! The kids (who will be 14 and 12) don't always come to the shows with us and I enjoy going to dinner first then the shows later in the evening.

On the personal front, DH and I are heading to WDW for an annual conference at Yacht Club. I look forward to this conference all year because I just hang out at Downtown Disney, catch a movie, read and just chill out. Found out that my 8th grade daughter has 2 school events that week (high school orientation and a mandatory career night) so I had to change my plans and come home two days early :sad1::sad1::sad1: I'll only have 2 full days down there now, but I figure it's better than none :thumbsup2.

Soccer tournament in NH this weekend for son's team. Busy month.

I am officially wsitlisted for the 9 pm show... but if it doesn't come through that will be ok too.
Leaving this Friday for the World... with 24 seventh and eighth graders for the educational fieldttip of a lifetime! Sounds crazy but it is a great... and different trip!

Welcome!! Don't forget to send a PM to JenA because she has a list of all the families, kids (ages, etc) on a cruise website she created. It's an amazing website!! :worship:

We're in NY too (up near Albany). We'll drive down and spend a few days in Daytona Beach. We're heading straight home too because DS has football practice... darn it. LOL

Have a great night everyone!!!
Jude

Our kids are 11 and 12. It is an awesome fieldttip! I have been an advisor for 6 years now and the trip is different every year! We use Disney's YES program and our own educational guides for epcot and Kennedy. We also use seaward''s education program.

Oh and we do a lunch with an astronautat Kennedy that would be cool for everyone visiting to do... the chocolate cake is sooooooo good!
