August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

Well ... the airfare is booked! Air Canada had a decent seat sale today and up to now no offers have applied to these flights, so I jumped on them.

We will be driving to-from Toronto and then flying between Toronto and Vancouver. (We had to cut a day out of Vancouver in order to account for the day of driving to Toronto and we have to add a day on after the cruise to drive home, but since the airfare was almost TRIPLE to fly from home, it's not such a bad tradeoff.) We have some favourite shopping spots in Toronto/Barrie that we can now hit up on the drive down or back.

Getting super excited about the cruise. 29 more days then I can start booking everything. I know the site is going to be swapped that day.

I am getting help making a Fish Extender and has a cool idea (thanks to dancingmicky) for FE gifts. also I forgot to give my stateroom number when I signed up for the FE. It is 6613. the wife and I will also be celebrating our Anniversary in that Saturday. It hard to believe that it has been 12 years.

our group has the late dinner seating. and as far as to what we look like thats the wife and I at CC in the profile pic. As far as to what the twins look like, I'm sure there are not going to be to many 10 month old twin girls on the cruise so we might be easy to spot.

I am still super nerves about bring the girls on the cruise. I hope the wife and I can keep up. and advise for a first time parent bring the girls on their first cruise would be great.

Finally Mellers CONGRATS on the blood test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a toddler on a transatlantic flight, by myself. After that, I figure I win the crazy parent award

Seriously, though, the main thing I would suggest is bring their favorite "lovie", whatever that is, and stay someplace near a store, a couple of days in advance, so you know what you don't have. I think they have a "baby kit" that you can order, which might make it easier to get onboard.

If you decide to go to the day-before cruise meet, hit Zellers (think Target). They have everything you need, from diapers to formula to baby vitamins and spare clothes. They're also very low-priced.

Hi Pops71! I can't give you much cruise advice, but if you need to fly I can give some advice from an aunt whose travelled with her sister's family of three toddler boys - including a set of twins who just turned 2.

In short, plan for the best, be prepared for the worst and just go with the flow. You'll be amazed at what captures the girls' attention and will likely make some of your fondest trip memories at the most unexpected times.

Mellers advice about making sure to bring along favourite toys and comfort items is invaluable.

For weeks DH has had me believe that we were sailing on the 8/9/2011 sailing to Alaska, but he realised in a conversation last night that its actually this one(I asked him to check ressie for the excursion booking date opening up) So for weeks I have been posting on that thread and planning FE with them etc..

So now I have to start again. Let me introduce ourselves

We are in SR - 2134(we have stayed in this one on the Magic but not on the Wonder - sure it won't be that different!)

We live in the UK about 35miles north of London. This will be DH's & my 7th Disney cruise and the childrens 6th - they finally get gold

We fly into Vancouver on the 15th and stay in a hotel close to the airport I believe(don't know the name) and it would seem we have a couple of days after the cruise before we fly home again, so look forward to exploring Vancouver

I have done a quick read thru the thread but will go back and read more of the more recent posts to get myself aquainted with my new Sail mates.
