August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

Just hade to share the news ............. Our cruise payment is in the mail on its way to DCL :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo:

I did my final payment a few weeks ago! It sure makes it seem more real, doesn't it??

But...I still have lots of things to do!
-book my flights (we are very close to Vancouver so I can wait for a good sale)
-pre-pay my tips and put some money on our on-board account
-work on FE gifts
-make a packing list & buy some new luggage
-work on door decorations
-surf the DIS looking for more hints and tips
-talk about the cruise non-stop (I think I'm starting to irritate my husband...lol)
-book excursions when I can

Before we know it...we'll all be in Alaska! :woohoo:

Aby - if there are no cheap flights to be found you can always drive. Prince George isn't that far away. The parking may be a bit less expensive than the air fare. Did you get a good exchange rate when you payed?

We're not interested in flying down to Vancouver, though we certainly could. We can probably get airfare for less than 600$ as long as I book during a sale. Both my hubby and I hate to drive, and the last thing we want to do after a nice relaxing cruise is to deal with traffic :) Thanks for the suggestion though!

Our dollar is pretty much on par with the US dollar, and has been while I've been paying off the cruise. Every time I've made a payment, I only had to pay the small banking charges for a US dollar transaction, which was only a few extra dollars.

Made final payment today....booked travel insurance.

Working on excursions at this time. Does anyone know about when we arrive in Ketchikan on 8/21/11? It is not listed on the DCL site. Thanks.

Someone posted a Port schedule a couple of pages back with all of the Alaskan ports and docking times for all of the ships. If I remember correctly we dock in Ketchikan at 1:30 and we are there until 7:30.

Kelly

Thanks Kelly. I was looking through past pages and gave up...:rotfl2:

Sorry guys, we're jumping sjip, so to speak, in favor of next year's HI cruise. If I win the lottery I'll take both :(

Have a great time and post pictures and reports! This is not an easy choice for us...

Enjoy Hawaii! We'll miss you, but have a great time!

Oh Dee! I am both sad and jealous! Although I wouldn't want to give this sailing. Have a WONDER-FUL trip!

What does everyone think? Should we close the FE list on 5/18 or 6/18?

Since the meet in Diversions is just informal, and not private, I'd say if anybody wants to, they should just come, whether or not they're in the FE.

The same is true of the meet the day before at White Spot, although if I know that more people are coming, I'll try to reserve a larger table.

The cruise is getting closer and closer!:cool1::banana:

Well since there is talk of closing the FE list I guess I should get on it Before it is to late. There is ME (Dad, Jerry), DW (Mom, Melanie), and my DDs (Faith and Bella, The Twins). The girls will be 10.5 months at the time of the cruise.

At this point, the Mickey list is closed and we are looking at the date to close the Pluto group? Do I have it right?

I wanted share what I learned about Zazzle.com. Zazzle has licensed Disney graphics that you can combine with text on various media including shirts! Here is the one that I pulled together and look forward to ordering. I thought this service could be a good alternative leaning on our wonderful DIS-igners. :thumbsup2

Actually, I promised I wouldn't split the list unless we got 16 families--but we just did, so I'm going to post two lists in just a moment.

I was planning to just try to balance out the two lists until the close date, if that sounds okay, but if people would feel better if we closed one list, and kept the second list open, that would be okay with me as well.

Also, if somebody really wants to be on both lists, let me know, and I'll put them on both lists.

We hit the "magic 16", so the FE list has split. I tried to make both lists even, but I also tried to make sure that each group has at least one or two kids the same age in it, and if there are groups traveling together, that one winds up on each list, for more variety. If I accidentally dropped an important day (like a birthday or an anniversary), or worse, if I accidentally dropped someone off the list, please let me know.

Also, if you really want to be on both lists, I will add you to both (up to 15 families in a list), or if you'd really rather be on a different list, I'll try to do that.
