August 13, 2011 Med - Mickey's Marauding Mates

Here is another site that has them that I found on that big FE thread that has like 1,700 posts:

http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=disney+fish+extenders

They don't all ship to the UK tho...looks like the Stitches & Bows place will...

Any other peeps interested in doing the FE?? Where are Karen, Luke & Jeff??? I got an idea today for something I could get to bring that would be SMALL and not take up much luggage space!!:rolleyes1

YEA! We booked our hotel for Barcelona. We are staying at the Novotel the night before the cruise. Does anyone have a name/number for a company that will drive us to the port? We don't want to use public or Disney. I would also like to get there early. Thanks!

:yay: YAY! Kelly and I are staying there too....I think she has been researching some options for a van or shuttle or something! Kelly! Oh Kelllllly!! :sail:

I got another idea today for a small lightweight FE gift.:rolleyes1 Now to keep my eyes open for it to see if I can find it in a store or if I'll have to order it online... Hummmmmmmmmm :)

Hi yes I'm here.:)

Ok so if LNRP wants to join us on the private transfer to the port the company I am looking at have quoted 88euro for 11 of us. So that's just short of 30euro each family. This is one way. It's based on each of us having 1 bag each. I'm not including hand luggage.

LNRP - can you let me know if you would like to share with us. LeeAnn and I both want to be at the port early as well. if anyone else staying at the Novotel would like to share please let me know so I cna get this booked soon.

What time do you reckon we will need to get them to pick us up at? What time do we want to be at the port?

LeeAnn I had been looking for an email address to contact the company to see if they will drop of us off at the Jazz and Novotel on our return and I hadn't been able to locate one but I have finally found it so I can ask them now.

I think DCL have totally picked the wrong day to be in La Spezia. We were thinking ofgoing to do the Lerici castle/dino excursion but I have since learnt that it not open on a Monday just like the museums in Florence.:confused3

Sounds great to us. We'll be happy to share a ride to the port. Our kids are the same age. We'll be heading to the airport after we dock.:sad2: If you don't mind sending me the information for the service, I like to arrange a pick up for us from the port to the airport.

This is our 1st cruise so I'm not sure about what time to arrive at the port. I was thinking around 11:00 am. Please tell me if it's too early or too late.

Thanks for arranging the car!!!! I'm off to bed. It's 10:30pm here.

Hi Lisa,

I have sent you a PM with the link for the website for the private transfers. I hope you get it ok. If not let me know.

LeeAnn - Keep me right - are we allowed to post links for websites on here? We are not allowed to on the DIBB which is why I'm asking.

Also what time do you think we should be at the port?

Sounds good to me - does that work out to be much cheaper than individually?? Thanks for doing all the legwork on this Kelly!! Do we need to make sure if they need to count carry-on bags?! I'm sure just about all of us will have one of those each. I am currently planning 1 checked bag and 1 carry-on suitcase for each of us + a "personal article" - DH will have his laptop, DS a backpack & I will have a shoulder bag - of course those ones can all be held in our laps...I just don't want to be responsible for messing up any luggage counts!!:rolleyes1 Let me know if you need some sort of money up front...hopefully they'll only take a card or something to hold the spot. I don't know what time the port opens & if they'll assign boarding group numbers like they do in FL. I think they open around 10:00ish in FL. JEFF!! OH JEEEFFFFFF!!! Now we need Jeff's past experience with the port in Barcelona!!! How will this work in Barca??

Yeah, this closing stuff down on Sundays & Mondays sucks! Maybe you can go to Lucca & Pisa or to Cinque Terre?? That's a real bummer for you. I lucked out in the way I ended up planning our days in Paris - I found out AFTER THE FACT that the Eiffel Tower and several museums are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays...so it is fortunate that we're spending Mon. & Tues. at DLP. TOTALLY by luck tho that this worked out for us!!

I think that is something you should be able to post here. People are always posting links for hotels & tour companies... We can't post links to SOME things & I don't know why those are banned. But the DIS filters links to certain sites. I honestly don't know why. But you should be able to post the transfer company link. :thumbsup2 Lisa may not have a high enough post count yet to send a PM back to you...there's some sort of posting rules about having a minimum post count for PM's...

Hopefully Jeff will weigh in with what he can tell us about the port in Barca since he did the Med cruise last summer. I'm thinking early...like 10:00ish but I don't know. That's we did in FL. :confused3 Only 5 1/2 months left kiddos!!!:woohoo:

I'd love the details of the private transfers too please! :)

oh Luke - did you send me a friend request on Facebook? Or is it some Luke I have never heard of? ;)

OK sooo it had been a week since I called DCL to inquire about the Mallorca shore excursions which are STILL NOT POSTED on the website. She said she doesn't know why they're not online yet. Her list only had 16 things whereas the CM last week said she counted 17. I asked if there were any changes to the beach excursion & it appears that is actually one difference. Last week the girl said it was to Moneello Beach and today the girl said it was to Palma Nova beach...so I guess they're still futzing with stuff there. :confused3 :headache: She said she thought that all of the other ports had been updated with new / current information. :thumbsup2 So looks like we're just still waiting on Mallorca to be posted.

While I was on the phone I was trying to snoop for some other info. I think we're going to do Palo Brunch instead of dinner so I don't have to pack as many dressy, dressy clothes. I believe that brunch is more like "crusie casual" attire so I could get by with Capris. I know it's only offered on sea days but I wasn't sure what TIME brunch ran from / to so I asked about that (it's 10:30 to 12:30 in case anybody cares)! I also asked about the dining rotations and if they'd said yet what night is formal night etc. She told me what she has showing NOW but of course that it is subject to change... READY??
As of right NOW, Formal Night will be night 2 and Semi-formal night will be night 6. Pirate night will be night 5 so this may help you plan if you're going to try Palo or something.

As far as the dining rotations go...
Number 1 is: L, A, PC, L, A, PC, L
Number 2 is: A, PC, L, A, PC, A
And I goofed up on # 3 and didn't write the exact order down but it goes to PC 3 times so that means PC would be nights 1, 4 & 7.

I am going to ask DH first but I think I would prefer to put in a request for the first rotation. Personally I like Lumiere's a lot and I don't care for Parrot Cay so much (at least on the Wonder I seemed to have a hard time deciding what to eat)...so rotation #1 would not only give us 3 nights in Lumiere's but would put us in Animator's on Formal night which I would like better than PC...requests are not guaranteed but so I would like to try tho. Of course all of the above is subject to change until they actually set sail...hopefully we can get more scoop from the 1st 7-night cruise to confirm!! I would love to see menu's somewhere too...I hope they post some from the longer Meds...

Anyway, for our cruise newbies here these abbreviations stand for:
L = Lumiere's
A = Animator's Palate
PC = Parrot Cay
You can read about them on the DCL website under the dining link!!

Maybe Jeff & Jeremy can chime in sometime with their take on dining since they've both done a bunch of DCL's?!

Hi thanks for the information, I looked at the restaurants and Lumiere's looks lovely and Beauty and the Beast is my all time favourite film. Do you get to see Belle?
So looking forward to the Pirate night does everone dress up or just the children?

I honestly never paid any attention to whether Belle was on the ship or not. :confused3 I've seen Cindy, Snow & Alice... Maybe Jeff knows since he's our resident DCL expert?!

At this point in time I don't think I'm going to plan to pack anything too special for pirate night this go around. We dressed in the theme of it on the Wonder last time (I wore a white peasant type blouse with lots of plastic beads & a black tiered skirt + a pirate mickey ears hat - I sort of went for the wench look). DH & DS wore matching skull T-shirts, skull themed headgear things we got at the POC store, hoop earings & an eye patch. It is my thinking that many of the cruisers on these cruises will be from all over Europe & since many don't appear to be DIS'ers they probably won't be dressing up as they just won't think of it...so I'm not going to stress out over planning anything extra to pack. I think if you want to then you certainly CAN and most certainly the kiddos can as they will have a blast with it.:thumbsup2

(PS) I went over to Cruise Critic to snoop around & see if there was a Roll Call over there for our cruise but there was not. So I went ahead & started one...I made a point to say that we have a small group chatting over here on the DIS so maybe we'll pick up some more peeps that way. I am trolling for peeps!! :rotfl2:

This is the company I had been looking at for transfers as they were the ones who quoted for city to the port as well as airport to the city. I hope this works.

http://www.barcelona-airport-transfers.com/

LeeAnn - I had also been thinking to be at the port at 10am. LNRP - would you be happy with this time?

I had read on the DIBB that people paid around 40 euro from the Novotel to the port so this would save around 10euro each. If we were able to get another 4 people then it would bring the cost down slightly as well.

LeeAnn - Thanks for posting the info you got from DCL. I got a quick email from my cousin to say that she hasn't had time to send me a detailed reply yet but hopes to later tonight so I will post when I know the info.

:dance3:

PS - I forgot to say when I was on the DCL website last night there was no Cat 11 cabins showing so they must be sold out of those.

Looks good to moi!! Thanks again for doing this legwork for us! 5 months 10 days to go!! :woohoo:

No pressure on your cousin - we want her to like us! :rotfl:

OK, so where is Karen lately? She hasn't posted in like over 2 weeks! Hope she's OK...

10 am works for us. Thanks for doing all the work. Pirate night... hum. Will have to think about. The list for all the things I need to bring seems to be growing. :)

Sorry I have been MIA. Let's see if I can remember all the questions asked.

We are not going to do FE this time. It's just too hard with the airline luggage limits.

We actually didn't get to port until a bit later than normal but I think I remember that it opened at 10.

And yes Belle is on the ship. She appears at the princess gathering and on last years Med she and Beast came to Lumieres one night!

Have a great weekend all. Raining like mad here!

Tell me about it... The more I think about what clothes we'll need for formal night, semi formal night etc. DS will bring his pirate outfit for pirate night, DD will want to bring her Belle or cindy dress. I'm beginning to panic! it's gonna be a tight squeeze as we are only allowed 3 checked bags:scared1:. I'm really not sure about doing the FE because of all the other clothes I need to bring which I'm not used to having to pack..

DS did a sponsored walk this morning with the Beavers so we are just having a relaxing afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ahhh...scouting!! I don't miss it! :rotfl:

You're quite right - the luggage restrictions are really a complication. Aren't you allowed 1 checked bag per person? Why only 3? I was just reading thru another thread that was about packing lists for the trans-atlantic - SCARY!!! As much fun as the FE was it IS a huge consideration. I am not 100% sure either way.... I do have a few ideas...but...I don't know. This is also such a port intensive cruise - we'll barely have any time on the ship (which will make deliveries harder). <heavy sigh>

getting ready to eat lunch then head to swim practice....
