August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

I like to look at the FE list and see who has kids the same age or people who are on same deck, but then I stopped to think that I wasn't on the list being I'm not doing FE (duh). Maybe there is someone else on the boards with a child of the same age as mine but I don't know it because they are not doing FE, too. I don't want to go through the whole list and check, so I thought maybe I could post something for people reading now who aren't on FE list who wanted to add their names. If you want to be added, just type in your info and I'll update the list. (I hope I'm not the only one reading these not doing FE! :rotfl:)

Michelle (Castle4us), Mick, Adam-DS age 15
Cabin # 9570

Ask and you will receive :rotfl2:... I already went through the thread a little while ago and posted who's who for the Disney Dreamers... and then forgot all about it. I never updated it with the new people or as we got new info until I saw your post today! So, I just went through and updated as best I could... I think I got everybody, but I may have missed (I hope not!) My goal was for everyone to be able to see where everyone was, but I thought this would be especially helpful for us to see who has kids around the same age...

Please let me know if I missed anything or if you would like to tell me what cabin you are in or names you would like me to add to the list....

My DH has been running around all day trying to get everything together for his return to the classroom too. :teacher:Because this is his first year working for the district (they bought out the special ed contracts from the Intermediate Unit) he has to get all kinds of paperwork completed. They just gave him the list yesterday. He could have been working on it all summer but now only has 3 weeks to complete (physical, TB test, fingerprints, clearances, etc.). He's a neurotic mess. It's days like this I'm glad I can go to work!

I just finished my FE gifts - hooray! :cheer2:Now both the FE and gifts are done. That's a big relief.

My TA called this morning and all of my docs are in. I'll pick up tomorrow after work. Can't wait to have them in my greedy hands!

I have a question for everyone - I work as a housing program manager for a non-profit veterans program (housing homeless vets). I'm 3rd down on the chain of command. The woman above me is crazy. I have diagnosed her as bi-polar, borderline personality disorder. She's very bright but hard to deal with and has just returned to work full time, out since March. She has fibromyalgia which is a manifestation of her mental health. She's always in pain and she thinks she is being poisoned by mold in her house. She has spent thousands of dollars having it removed. She's still sick and has decided to sell and move. The top boss has told us he is cancelling our Thursday meeting so we (myself and my staff) can go to her house all day and help her paint! I'm having a hard time dealing with this. I do not want to paint her basement and bedrooms so she can move. My house needs painted too! Should I suck it up and help?:confused3 I hate being put in a position like this and feel it's wrong on so many levels. I'm too damn old and tired!:sad2:

I want to sail away:boat:

Judy I also work at a non-profit and we help addicts who can not afford to help them selves. I have found that those that really are helped (and I will say it is not all of them) but those that are helped really want one thing...to give back to those that have helped them, my suggestion put it out there to the as a request to some of the vets who are not working and would love to feel needed and useful and would love to give back!!! In the only way they can.....with hard work and skill. I hope that helps.

I can only imagine how you feel! I guess as long as your #1 boss is telling you to do this on company time......what can you say? I know it isn't fair. It would be different if he asked for volunteers.....but possibly no one would do this?

Maybe through this something good will happen that day......keep your chin up......soon you will be on the Dream, with all that behind you.

Oh Judy, can't you just say you're allergic to the fumes or the fumes will trigger your asthma:rolleyes1 anyone see Lori's toes on Facebook? Too cute! Gary, you could probably pull that off also:laughing: 4 days of work left! Yea! I read the thread on check in today. We have to drop off a rental at Budget also, and it sounded like it went pretty smooth with the shuttles from the rental places. I'll cross my fingers. We need a check in from Tina as to how crowded the parks were today. Tina, where are you?

Judy,

Wonder where your hubby had to go for the physical and tb? We do a ton of stuff for the Pittsburgh Board of Ed among other schools, college's and academy's.... maybe he has or will cross my path. Wouldn't that be funny.

Personally, I think it's absolutely insane that you're expected to paint your bosses house. I mean, really??? I wonder how she talked your #1 boss into doing that on company time. Definitely not in the job description. I think you're handling it very well, I'd be a different story. I would've gladly helped if asked but would be seriously rebelling in your situation.

I took the dive and ordered from ebags today. I got the 3 piece set of cubes, 3 slim cubes and the toiletry kit. They should be here on Friday! :cool1: How bout they were having free shipping....estimated arrival date is Friday. However, I could've upgraded to priority shipping for $12.95 with an estimated arrival date of.....Friday. :confused3 :rotfl:

1 week from right now I'll have just gotten to OKW and will be happily enjoying a rum runner at the Gurgling Suitcase.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I've calmed down and decided it's the right thing to do. At least I'll be with my staff. I would love to put the word out and have some of our vets volunteer to give back. I know a lot of my folks would help. The problem is she is afraid of most of our clients! We have some rough guys with felony histories and she is scared to death of them. She has been known to leave the bldg and go home when certain guys come in. I told you she was crazy!!!

Have a great evening and we're almost one day closer!:cool1:

Judy, that is really a tough situation with your job. I feel for you. I was talking to my DH Steve about it. Being "bosses" ourselves we couldn't even fathom asking one of our staff to do such a thing. I guess you just have to ask yourself if it's worth possibly compromising your position to say "no". Probably not I would assume. Look at it this way, if you help paint her house, it will sell quick and she'll get out of there faster!!! And you will rid yourself of that person forever :dance3: Anyway, it sounds like you've made your mind up, so just go with it!!

Cara, I'm so glad you took the plunge and got the organizers. You wanted them so bad

Michelle, great idea about adding the names. We are on the list already but I am so glad to see the names of the others. I'm not the best at remembering names, so scrolling back through the thread to find names when I was posting was work :rotfl:

I keep forgetting that some folks are going to Disney BEFORE The cruise so they are already there or leaving soon!! LUCKKKKKKY!!! 9 days for us :woohoo:

Lani, I saw that you are a 6th grade teacher. Owen is going into 6th grade this year. I told him that a 6th grade teacher was one of my new friends and we would get to meet her on the cruise. I thought maybe I would get some reaction from him, but I didn't... He's a little man of little words....:lovestruc

That's too funny! I guess he just can't even begin to think about school - or teachers are just not that interesting!!!! :rotfl2: Matt is going into 7th grade - maybe he would rather hear about 6th grade from him! My guys can be men of little words too... :rolleyes1

Ohh, I wish I was there! Hope crowd levels are low after the cruise.

How nice that you'll have the classroom set up now. I've got to go in a few days after we get back from the trip. Our teacher workshop doesn't start until the following week after we get back, but we needed to switch classrooms and I will go back to a room with everything packed in boxes...:upsidedow Our building had major room reorganization and 17 classrooms changed locations, so there was no time at the end of the year to unpack as other teacher wasn't out of her room yet.:sad2:

Michelle, it was good to be able to get in there and set up my desks and supply baskets, etc. I do all of my bulletin boards at the end of the year before I go and then cover them so all I have to do is take the covers off and put up a few things in August! I have to go back for my second August day on Thursday. I'm not sure if Matt is coming with me again - I'll see if he wants to skip camp again... I can't believe it's time to do all of this again!!! Out 3 teacher workshop days are the Tues, Wed, and Thursday right after we get back. (We are getting back on Sunday, 8/21) Our kids start the following week.

I can't imagine having to start unpacking everything when I get back! :scared1: I hope you have some people to help you... that is a ton of work to do to be ready for the start of the year!

FE Gifts Looking for shirt sizes for anyone with a Son or Daughter in the age range from 15 to 21. I think this only includes 4 people, but clarification will be helpful.

Gary, I know Trev is not in that age range, but he is 6 ft. tall. Just for a heads up.

Hi Gary, my son Ryan wears a medium. Thanks for asking!

Wow, in just a day you've got a lot of great advice which I second. All I can add is that it wasn't fair to put you in that position. You sound like you've got it figured out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Oops, forgot this one. Luckily I teach in a collaborative classroom so it is me and another teacher (we have kids with identified special needs in our classroom) to unpack. Plus our teaching assistant is GREAT and always comes in to help. None of us get paid for the extra time, but it's worth it to be off and running with a smooth start when the kids arrive! ;)

Hi everyone! Just catching up with all the news.
I sympathise with your dilemma Judy - your boss sounds like fun- hopefully the whole painting situation won't be too awful.
I can relate to Lani and Michelle's need to set up classrooms - luckily we had 2 training days at the end of term and have 1 when we start back. I'll probably spend most of my time answering hundreds of emails that pile up over the summer - we still get loads even though school is closed.

We've been in Animal Kingdom today - went in for EMH and ended up staying for most of the day. It wasn't too crowded at all and we saw some great close-ups of the silverback gorilla. I've never seen one that wasn't asleep before!

Just over a week to go. Can't wait! :cool1:

That's great that you have another teacher and an assistant to work with. We also work in teams, but I have to set up my own classroom! Our special ed teachers do share a room though, so they would be setting up their classroom together. It was nice getting in and getting the desks set up, supplies put away, smartboard connected...etc. I still have to go in tomorrow and have a bunch of things to do, but Matt is coming back in with me, so I will put him to work! What grade students do you work with?
