Do you know that a mysterious pirate ship has landed at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, providing Disney Cruise Line guests with a swashbuckling photo opportunity and a sneak peek into movie making magic.

Starting in early July, guests sailing on a Disney Cruise Line vacation will discover a 175-foot ghost ship anchored at Castaway Cay. The ship is the Flying Dutchman, which makes its silver screen debut on July 7 in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. The Flying Dutchman’s commander is the legendary Davy Jones, who serves as nemesis to the infamous pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, in the upcoming film.

“The Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise is extremely popular, and having the Flying Dutchman ship at Castaway Cay is something truly unique that only Disney Cruise Line could offer guests,” said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin.

The intricate film prop is unlike any other pirate ship – with ragged sails and a barnacle-encrusted bow, the ship looks like it was raised off the ocean floor to haunt the open seas for eternity. The Flying Dutchman will provide a scenic photo backdrop, and guests renting boats on the island will be able to get an up-close look at the ghost ship.

While visiting Castaway Cay, guests should also be on the lookout for the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. With the Flying Dutchman lurking just off the shore, the eccentric captain may be spotted around the island. Guests are encouraged to approach the hero and hear his tales about adventure on the high seas. The charming pirate graciously accepts requests for portraits and autographs—if guests can manage to track him down.

The addition of the Flying Dutchman to Castaway Cay will enhance what already is a highlight of a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

I've seen some close up photos of it, and wow it looks great. It has a really organic look to it, it looks like the wood has reverted back to tree state. I'm quite excited to see it at CC. Hopefully Tim and I might get a chance to see the film at some point (we have to go in turns because of Ben, it's our kid swap thing!) Maybe they will have it on the ship, that would be great!

So disappointed in Zidane, I really thought France were playing excellently. After the red card, I just did not want France to win under any circumstance. The better looking team won!! I bet it's a big party in Italy right about now!

I couldn't believe it when Zidane did the head butt... ...just unbelievable. If he hadn't been red carded the fans would have gone crazy.

To do something so unprofessional during the Championship Game of the World Cup, your team is tied in overtime, it's your last professional game, then...WHAT WAS HE THINKING?

WOW !!!!! It has been a big party ALL NIGHT LONG here in Italy !!!
To be honest our team was NOT the best playing one !!!
We were thinking that France would win !!!

The last minutes were so scaring !!! Italy never wins at free kicks !!!!!

AND very sorry about what Zidane did !!! WHAT was he thinking ??? He is a champion , maybe that was his last game ... surely he didn't help his team !

I enjoyed the game and hoped Italy would win.

You only have 20 days until you leave to come to the States.

I was wondering what date do you and Marco have to leave after the cruise? Will you spend more time at Orlando or drive back to Miami afterwards?

I still have a few things to do before we cruise, I want a few more items for the goody bags, and I need to either make or have a DIS Sign made.

Also I need a new pair of shoes. (Don't tell DGH)

I love the daily countdown. The whole family is now very excited. It's funny how several months ago when I joined Disboards, they laughed at me about preparing so far in advance for the cruise.

DS and I have our tuxedo's ordered. I was able to get some very special Mickey related items to go with them so we'll be looking very sharp for formal night. DS even requested I buy him a top hat and white gloves. We called to request APL rotation so we'll be at Lumiere's for formal night (seems most fitting imho.)

We also got to try out our pirate costumes this weekend. Our swim team's theme for the meet Saturday was pirates - we went to the movie that afternoon after the meet. DS got the Jack Sparrow costume from the Disney store which looks fabulous. I'm sure there will be many other young boys dressed as Captain Jack for pirate night.

I've been thinking that between the tuxedo and dinner jacket for formal and semi-formal nights, and my pirate costume, I don't have much to pack. Just a couple of swim suits, khaki's and polos for other dinners and some t-shirts.

Here's hoping everybody's next 33 days are fun, safe and fast.

I've been thinking that between the tuxedo and dinner jacket for formal and semi-formal nights, and my pirate costume, I don't have much to pack. Just a couple of swim suits, khaki's and polos for other dinners and some t-shirts.

I have been wondering how many suitcases I'm going to need I'm going to try and keep it down as much as possable, but I know I'll bring way to much.

EVERYONE is still in Italy !! Our team is waited to be back today !!! and people are still feasting !!!!
(NO sleep last night !!!)

After the cruise we plan to visit

SEAWORLD, staying on site on Saturday and Sunday night !!!
This was a surprise from Marco !!! a nice smooth way to ...go back to "normal" life !!!
Our flight will be on Monday 21st from Miami (in the afternoon ).
So sweet of you to ask !!!
