August 10-14 Question

Is there some type of special event going on around August 10-14th? I just noticed that some of the deluxe resorts have insane prices whereas the on the weekend, the prices are far more reasonable... I just wanted to check and see if there was something going on causing the prices to sky rocket or maybe it is just some other reason. I was thinking of staying at the Polynesian, and I like to go during the week rather than the weekend because I assume the weekends are busier at the parks. But, if that week is going to be particularly busy because of an event, then I might as well go on the cheaper weekend! Though, I'm sure it's going to be packed regardless at that time of year. We have annual passes and go quite often so this isn't my first rodeo with Disney, but I do wonder why a hotel is 700-1000 per night!

If I remember correctly that is the last week before most of the schools there in Florida go back to school. I have been there that week in the past and it is often extremely busy in the parks. You would have to check some of the district calendars to be sure.

Yes. School starts August 24th for my kids, and we are out near Clearwater. So, maybe that is the factor. Thanks!
