we usually go the 2nd week of aug.. but in 09 we are looking at 3rd week in July.. will it be busier??? Last august seemed very busy.. it was the week prior to free dining..

We have gone during both months and didn't notice much difference in the crowd sizes. We did go around the 3rd week of August, right before school started back, and I think the crowds were slightly smaller but not significantly.

The weather was oppressive as expected so that tended to overshadow any reductions in wait times. We tried to keep to the indoor activities and waited out the hottest parts of the day at the resort pools or in the room napping.

I've gone during both times and do find July busier than August. Just so you know, the points are higher in July than August too.

I agree. DH is a teacher, and we almost always travel the last two weeks of July or the first two weeks of August. We've always found the crowds in August to be noticably lighter. Wished I could say that it was also cooler in August!

The crowds were not so bad, except the weather in my opinion was not as good as previous yrs...Persistent clouds, which made for good park days, but not alot of sun, which we tend to enjoy when at pools. In fact, Faye came in Tuesday night before we left Wed...Shocked to even get out of Orlando airport..late by 3 hrs, but nevertheless still got out...

Will be returning again, but also wondering if perhaps last first week August is better than 3rd week...3rd week August starts lower points though..

Who knows, anyway you cut it, weather is always uncertain...

For us, I'm watching airfares almost daily to make my final decision...

We went mid Aug. in 07 and this past July we arrived on July 19th for 2 weeks. We were quite surprised that it wasn't more crowded than in Aug. We really expected it to be. We thought the crowds were fine at the parks. We stayed at BCV for 6 of our nights and SAB was never really crowded which we thought would be very crowded. We were pleasantly surprised. Sure it wasn't dead in the parks but we were able to get everything done we wanted and it didn't stop us from planning another July trip for next year.

We went this July and stayed at the BC (this is the trip where we purchased DVC) WHile it was crowded in the parks SAB was empty. We have decided to try the summer again in 2010 since DD will be getting to the grades with mandatory state testing.

But if you plan nothing is too bad

The least crowded that I have ever seen Disney has been on my trips the last week of August. The Florida kids are already back in school, and most families up north have already taken their summer vacations. We have had the parks to ourselves.
