First of all I am not superstitious, but today is Friday the 13th. I woke up early to find David sound asleep. I wondered if I put my hands around his neck and watch the space (between my hands) get smaller and smaller until no breath is in him – You think I’d go to jail. Yeah probably!!! Besides too many witnesses in the house!!! Between us all we received at least 10 phone calls from people back home (in St. Louis). Family and friends called to warn us about the approaching Hurricane. I’m thinking how bad could it actually be – we are in Kississmee, like 60 miles off a coast!! Today we are supposed to go to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Since I received so many calls early this morning I got up and headed to Windsor Palms Sales Center to pick up the 6 tickets for Busch Gardens/sea world that was sent for me from a friend. By the way – I didn’t know that rental houses did not have mail boxes, so if you need to receive mail while on vacation, be prepared to have it sent to the Club House/Sales Center. Just a note.

Anyway, when I get to Sales Center I noticed that blue tape was X –ed on all over the windows. They told me that they were closing today (at 10am) due to the storm. I’m like okay – just give me your package – don’t you think closing is a little too much – it looks fine outside to me!! I return to the house and by now everyone emerged from their rooms. Because of the calls everyone is now watching the news and lets just say the storm is now in Tampa, and there is no way we are going that way today. So I figure maybe we can just do some site seeing and go to Rainforest Café in Animal Kingdom today. I call to make PS’s and was told that all of Disney parks were closing at 3pm, so I made PS’s for tomorrow. The CM warned me that Animal Kingdom could be closed due to Hurricane Charley. Okay, that’s when ask, how bad can it get in this area. I was told that windstorms of 100mph could turn cars, knock out trees, and electricity. Wow!!

We turned around (and thru away) the thought of leaving early, everyone said, NO. The owner of the house calls and asks us to put all the pool furniture in the pool – to prevent it from hitting the house. The boys do what is asked. David and I are still not really talking and he is in “Kiss bottom full force.” You know all the baby and sweetheart talk. It was making me sick. To prevent talking to him I decide to head to Starbucks on I-Drive and Wal-Mart by myself. The Hobbs said after breakfast they would head that way too.

They really need a Wal-Mart closer than the one on 192. According to the directions I got off of Yahoo before I left home, it was only 10 miles down 192, but it took almost 35 minutes with all the traffic and I had to really use the restroom. It was nice to see all the hotels I looked at online in person. All of the hotels that claim to be at Disney’s Maingate would take a while with traffic and all. Let me just say this, Wal-Mart was a complete mess. It was so many people there it took me 15 minutes to find a parking space. I had to use the restroom so bad so I hurried to the line to find the ladies room line almost to the front door. Me being inpatient, I walk to the door to find it being cleaned. Can U believe? With all these people out here they have this old man moving like molasses. So the girls and I upfront take force, we wait until the men’s restroom is empty and take over. Yes people we invaded the men’s restroom. By the way, why is it that all men’s restrooms smell so bad? They smell like, well – a urinal. By now David is hitting me on my Sprint 2 way – which I ignore. I can’t believe so many people were in the store. I had to “steal” a basket – hey, they left it!!! I immediately head back to the section that has candles to find them almost gone. The few that were left were $10- $20, so I got a few and headed over to get some food that possibly didn’t need refrigeration – you know all junk!!! I get in the 20 items or less line that is in the middle of the store – literally. All the lines are. It takes about 25 minutes before my turn.

The parking is now worse and the police are out. As I drove home I wanted to stop for quick food, but every place – and I mean every place was packed. Cars were parked on the streets for fast food drive thru. Lots of people were in the streets, but I would figure out that everyplace including Disney, all water parks, everyplace was closed. I thought this would be a good time to put my pride in my packet and call my husband. Guess what – the line wouldn’t go thru. I called at least 10 times – each time without getting thru. Dah!!! – All the lines were full!!! Wow, this is really serious. Now all of sudden I’m getting scared and its like Nature is laughing at my fear. It starts raining extremely hard. I can’t see!!!

My visibility is really low, but I’m like 3 blocks to Formosa Gardens, but it takes like 10 minutes to get thru those few blocks. I finally get home to find a very angry David. Putting my pride BACK into my pocket, I ignore him. He apologizes over and over again. Talks about how scared he was and what he’s watching on the news. I accept only so he will leave me alone!! Okay and he’s so darn cute!!!! A few minutes after I return, James comes “home” and tells us about the “drama” at Subway and this pizza joint – both at Formosa Gardens and 192. There was a arguing with the subway employees about how long it was taking. There was arguing at the Pizza place too. It took him over 2 hours to get his food – Can U believe?
I hurried up and cooked all the frozen pizzas just in case the lights went out and had the candles and matches ready. We all charged our portable DVD batteries too just in case. We watched the news of the reporters in certain areas and how fast the wind was blowing. A reporters gave the news on one knee. He said he couldn’t keep his balance on two feet. It appears that people near the coast and near areas were told to come to Orlando hotels and shelters. The Hobbs were at this Indian Restaurant waiting on food for like 3 hours and returned to tell us their drama of fearful tourists of this area.

All of us are from the Midwest (I use to live in Birmingham, AL), but none of us have experienced this kind of weather. Even our tornado watches and warnings, never last as long as this hurricane winds – that I learned can turn into a tornado. I’d never heard of that. What “freaked” us all out was hearing a tornado was in Clermont, FL. I wasn’t exactly sure where that was, but I did know that it wasn’t far, because we looked at renting in that area. It was probably 7pm maybe when it was completely dark and the winds were so hard I am surprised the trees in the front survived.

Tammy and I watched outside the window long enough, we wanted to feel 100mph winds, so we did the unthinkable. We went outside, yes I realize we could have gotten hurt or worse Tammy’s baby. Hey, it was her idea. She went first. I just followed. The reporter was right. I couldn’t stand in the winds directions. We were out there only a few minutes and for the record, there were other families obviously curious too because I saw at least 2 houses with people outside.

We didn’t lose electricity, so we all gather in the living room and watch the Haunted Mansion until the children fall asleep. Today was okay, but could’ve been so much fun!!!!

Up next. The aftermath of Hurricane Charley, Don Pablos, and the Lockout.

Day 10

You made it through Hurricane Charley and you didn't kill your hubby. Way to go!:teeth:

Men's rooms smell like urinals because young boys, men with prostate trouble and those who are raised without adult supervision are very bad aims and urinate on the toilet seats and floor at times. Many men have not been trained how to use a flush handle, evidently, so urinals and some toilets rarely get flushed.

"We aim to please, you aim too please.":scared:
