Original plan for today: 9am p/s for Ohana, check into Polynesian, Typhoon Lagoon, and 7:40pm p/s for Rose & Crown for Illuminations
I woke up first at about 6:45 (3:45 in Arizona!) and decided to let DH and DD sleep for another hour. I went in search of coffee and to see the resort in day light. At about 7:30 I went back to the room only to find that the only key I had with me was DD's and it wouldn't open the door (bummer).... So knowing that DH did not sleep with his hearing aids (he is stone deaf without them) I was hoping to wake up DD and get her to open the door - well after knocking several times I went to find a house phone - no problem just down by the elevators - I called many times and didn't get an answer, so I went back to the room and knocked a little louder. (tried not to be too loud, didn't want to wake the neighborhood) after about 20 mins, I decided I would have to make the trek from the rock building to the lobby.... I had to wait about 15 minutes to get a new key... she actually gave me 3 new keys.... and then headed back to the room. Got there about 8:15.
DH and DD were still sleeping... Woke them up and told tem to hurry we were going to miss our 9:00 p/s. This was one of the first things I had planned, to start our first full day with a character breakfast, with match Island wear at the Polynesian..
By the time we made it to the Polynesian, none of us was really in the eating mood. DH had had a bad night due to eating so late the night before, and refused to go to breakfast. So I decided to skip the breakfast, and just check in. It took about 20 minutes (we were checking in for the cruise portion of our trip also)
I had told CRO that I wanted a L/V and would be willing to pay for it... I had read so much about it on these boards, and was sure that I wanted 3rd fl L/V, Tahiti Longhouse... she said because of the package I could request L/V, but not pay for an upgrade.. So I had made my requests through CRO, and did not call or fax. Well, while we were checking in I only stated that we wanted Tahiti, (to be close to TTC) and she asked what floor... DH piped in that we wanted 1st.. so since he was not feeling too hot, and I wanted him to be thrilled with all my planning, I decided to let him have this one request.. Any way we ended up with Tahiti, 1st fl, Garden View.... So the only request I got was Tahiti. OH Well.
The room was ready...about 9:45 AM, The CM call DD over to the counter and explained the lei, and put her lei on her, then she gave DD a lei for me and one for DH and DD put our leis on us, and it was off to the room on the cart... The CM driving the cart gave us a short tour of the resort on the way to the room. DH was very impressed.... he really had no idea where we were going to be staying, as I had made all the plans, and he just basically showed up for the vacation.
Once we got in the room #1004 I believe.... I was thrilled... The room was very nice and big, DH went straight to the patio, opened the doors and we were proptly visited by the neighborhood ducks....DD was so excited ( this wouldn't have happened on the 3rd fl) The G/V was very nice and peacefull.. I was happy.
DH wasn't feeling the best, so he climbed right into bed. I decided to see if DD and I could still have breakfast at Ohana - no problem, we were seated with no wait at all, about 1 1/2 hours after our p/s. It was really alot of fun, although Goofy never made it to our table... they had a parade around the resturant, and Mickey held DD's hand most of the way.... If only DH had come along, he would have gotten a kick out of that, and of course, I didn't think to bring the video camera, oh well, we both had a lot of fun with Chip Dale and Mickey. Neither one of us was very hungry... I think DD took one bite of a waffle, and one bite of a sauage, and drake 1/2 glass of OJ... I didn't eat much either, and the eggs were not very good, But we were really there for the atmosphere. After breakfast we headed back to the room to check on DH...and see if we could go to Typhoon Lagoon....
I woke up DH and asked if he wanted to go, he said no, so instead of TL I asked DD what she wanted to do. MK of course. So we walked over to the TTC to catch the monorail to the MK. Once on the monorail DD wrinkled her nose and said it smelled like the dentist. Which reminned me that I hadn't noticed a smell at all at the Polynesian, not in the lobby or in the rooms... so my verdict.. NO SMELL at the Polynesian. At MK we got a fast pass for Winnie the Pooh, then road the tea cups, about a 10 min wait. Then off to my favorite Fantasy land Ride Peter Pan.... about 40 minute wait, then waited for our F/P time by doing a little shopping, DD bought a stuffed Mickey to go with her Minnie.
After Pooh we headed back to the room to check on DH. Had to wake him up it was about 2:30 pm...We all got ready and about 4:00 took the monorail to Epcot, decided to look around there abit before our 7:40 p/s at the Rose and Crown. We did Honey I Shrunk the Audience, the film at France, and watched a moroccon dancer (DH thought she was great) Checked in for our p/s around 7:15, asked for patio seating, said we would be willing to wait as long as it took (DH and I had been to Epcot before and really wanted to see Illuminations from R&C). We waited about 15 minutes and were seated on the outside upper terrace. We really enjoyed the dinner and had great company at the tables near us... DH was born in London, and one of the tables next to us had 2 couples from the UK... So he spent most of the time talking and laughing with them... I didn't mind. The fireworks were Fantastic. and we had great seats!... We cought the monorail back to the Polynesian, and I fell into bed.. NOT too sure what DD and DH did!!
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom AM...... MGM PM..... P/S dinner at 50's Prime Time.... Hope to catch the Electric Water Parade ....
