~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I'm so glad to hear that Ruthie is hopefully getting some help now. Hopes she gets better soon.

Good luck at the doctor today D~ I will have you in my thoughts.

Alli update...

As it turns out - the lady who broke into the locker for Alli the other day was one of the Vice Principals... I found that out when I had to contact her again about Alli's coat. I did not hear anything at all yesterday again about it. So, when Alli got off the bus, with out her coat, I asked her if she heard anything - and not a word. So, I typed up an email and sent it off to the Vice Principal asking for an update. She emailed me back saying that she was going to review the security tapes last night, and that Alli should probably talk with her "own" Vice Principal today. :confused3 I am pretty sure that they have washed their hands of it. :headache:

Allison also told me that the Gym teachers have been making announcements during each class - giving a description of the missing items. Most people give rewards so that kids have an incentive to "tell", but I refuse to give a reward out to someone who stole something. I would rather just go and buy Alli a new jacket.

Yesterday, she had to wear V's winter coat to school... Thankfully, we gave V a Carhartt coat for Christmas - so she has a spare winter coat. It's definately a size (or two) too small for Allison - but at least it's warm. We are in a windchill warning this morning and right now it's -40° out there - she can get frostbite in less that 10 minutes at these temperatures.

I do not think, at this point that we will get her coat back. I am very angry about it - and just sick that kids are so STUPID and disrespectful! And it makes me even more angry that there are parents out there that don't teach their kids respect for other's property and well being - and when your child suddenly shows up with a Northface winter coat - which you know isn't cheap... Question them about it. Sheesh!

I've started shopping for a new coat for Alli - I will give it a couple more days... but it's so cold here now, she can't be with out one for long. I have one in my cart that I can buy, and it's a reasonable price because of the end of the season. But I am still mad that we have to go through all of this. :headache:

D~

My son got his coat stolen from school 2 years ago. Now, this school is for kids that have an Autism Spectrum Disorder. So, there is about 10-15 students. This coat wasn't an ordinary coat. It was his grandmother's army jacket from the Vietnam era. It had his last name on it. It also had his brand new Nintendo DSi in the pocket, that he had paid for himself. The school did nothing. Never saw it or his things again. It had his wallet it in too. He was most upset that the coat was gone. He asked that whoever took it just return the jacket. We didn't know why someone would want to keep such a personal item. The school didn't want to call in the police because they said it violated the rights of the students because the kids that attend there are there for "medical" reasons. I understand your frustration.

Glad you made the Dr. Appointment. I am the same way. I get chest pains occassionally that scare me, but they go away. I know it is silly, but I don't want to be told there is a problem. Plus, the doctor I have would just say she didn't know what it is wrong.

I survived the Dr. everyone. :woohoo: :rolleyes1

They seem to think it's my gall bladder... :confused3 I go in next week for an ultra sound and follow up.

Thanks for your good thoughts today - I really appreciate it. :grouphug:

D~

Oh - and V did get her braces off this morning. :thumbsup2

Pictures later. :woohoo:

Hi D,

I am a long time reader of your trip reports. I had the exact same symptoms that you had and it ended up to be gall stones. I had the surgery and have not had any problem since. The " gall bladder attacks" were excruciating!! If it ends up that you do need surgery, it's an easy one. I believe that they do it on an out patient basis now. It took me a long time to get to the doctor because, like you, I don't like doctors. It was totally worth it in the end.

By the way...your bags and baby clothes are amazing!!! I hope that your daughter's jacket gets returned very soon.

Glad to hear you finally made the appointment D~. Its always better to find out answers than to suffer needlessly. Although I have to say that I don't like going to the drs either. I've been to more doctors in the last 2 months than I've been in the last 2 years. Finally found out that I've got a deep-seated sinus infection. You'd think the first dr I went to would have suspected something when I still had the runny nose, post nasal drip, cough after a month. Colds never last that long. We are doing a course of antibiotics and steroids to see if it clears up any. Don't want to think what the next step would be....

Glad to hear V got her braces off. Can't wait to see the pictures. Also glad to hear RuthIE is getting some help.

T

What great news about Ruthie! She'll be so much less stressed with help for her animals.

When you go the MK you should get the Sorcerer cards even if you don't have time to play the game. The cards are really beautiful. You can each get a new packet every day.

Thanks for the details on the quilt. I really don't think I'll ever attempt one but if I do I might have to do a few sample squares to see how the chenille will look. I've looked at tons of photos online and the end results aren't always what I would have expected. I like your idea about keeping one of the layers uncut.

Good for your for going to the dr! I've been having an issue for um....a few (many) months. I had one weekend with excutiating pain and then several weeks of discomfort. I was afraid of what might happen on my trip in November because I was still uncomfortable and wonder what Disney dining and drinking (I don't drink at home) would do to me. Turns out I felt great at Disney. Probably a mix of less stress and walking 16 miles a day (one day I did that while playing the sorcerer game ;)) was all I really needed. I self diagnosed myself with diverticulitis. My sister has issues with it and she said my symptoms were the same. But then I saw her and she said my pain was too high so now I've self diagnosed myself with IBS. I should go see someone but I'm not good about doing that. What side is your pain on? Mine is left and I thought gall bladder was right.

V must be so happy!!!

Sorry for the continued jacket saga.

Glad you were able to get into the Dr today. Hope that your able to get some answers next week when you go back.

YEAH for V getting her braces off!!! I remember the day mine came off! It was a very joyful day!! Can't wait to see her beautiful smile!

Sorry the coat drama is still continuing.

Glad V got the braces off!

If it is gall bladder, it can be a pretty simple surgery if it is stones...I had mine out on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving and was out shopping with all the other crazy people on Black Friday.

Good luck!

"She put out an SOS to her cousin who lives near Ruthie... They contacted their vet, who is willing to go out to Ruthie's house to ***** the situation... "

Love how the Dis decided that assess looked like a swear word or something! :rotfl2: So glad to hear that help is on the way for RuthIE! And what a great opportunity for the students that get to help!

V is going to have a GREAT DAY TODAY! Be sure to post pictures of her beautiful smile!

Now that I understand the Sorcereres logo...love that pouch! I adore the deep rich blue fabric with the pop of the red! You are simply genius!

Hi Oopsi!!! Yah - I think I spelled assess wrong though... LOL I think I left an "s" off at the end, and I was too lazy to go back and change it. :rolleyes1

I did not get any pictures of her beautiful smile yesterday, except the ones of her at the Orthodontist office, and she won't let me post those. :confused3

I am happy to hear you were able to make an appointment and even better they were able to get you in today. I hope they can get some answers for you and some relief for the pain. I will be thinking of you and looking for an update later on.

Thank you - it was a relief to hear that it most likely isn't something worse. Thanks for the good thoughts yesterday.

Praying for you! So glad they could see you today...no time to back out.

Thank you - exactly... It's a relief to finally have it gone, and know that I might not have to deal with this pain again.

Glad you are going to the doctor today. I hope they have an easy fix for your issues.

Thanks Liz.

Glad that there is a resource for Ruthie, hope it works out.

Sorry to hear about your pain, good luck with the appt. My mom has been having rib pain lately as well. No stomach issues that I know of. She did get her gall bladder removed, but still has this pain that no one has figured out yet. Hope they can figure it out for you and you can make a quick recovery.

And I checked on your auction and did see a few bids, good thing you reposted it, because otherwise it might have gotten lost. Things over there are a mess. I avoid it lately. They are always changing privacy stuff and its starting to drive me crazy because I never understand the changes and I'm never sure what I should do. Anyway, hope the auctions go well. They are both awesome so they should do well once people see them!

Good luck and pixie dust all around for you today!!!!

Me too - I hope it works out for RuthIE.

I have heard of the pain your mom is having - if it's what I am thinking. I read about it when I first started researching about this pain... Lots of gall bladder misdiagnosis, where people have it removed, but the pain comes back. I sure hope they are able to figure out what your mom has - because if the pain is anything like mine, it's horrible.

I agree - I don't love FB, but FB is the easiest venue for me, so I just kind of go with the flow.

Thanks for the pixie dust yesterday.

I'm so glad to hear that Ruthie is hopefully getting some help now. Hopes she gets better soon.

Good luck at the doctor today D~ I will have you in my thoughts.

Thank you Lillian.

That is just awful! And I am outraged that the school didn't do anything about it - especially with a very small student population.

Glad you made the Dr. Appointment. I am the same way. I get chest pains occassionally that scare me, but they go away. I know it is silly, but I don't want to be told there is a problem. Plus, the doctor I have would just say she didn't know what it is wrong.

Thank you... I hope you are able to get the courage to go in and get it taken care of... I can honestly say that I feel more relieved that I may finally have some answers, and I can stop worrying about what is "could be". It's just not an easy thing for some people to do, and many don't understand it.

Good to hear that you survived the doctor appointment

Thanks Lillian, I figured that most people here would be pleased. :rolleyes1

Hi and welcome! Thank you for stopping by to tell me your story. It's really given me a lot of hope that once everything is figured out, I will be pain free. I am also glad to hear that it's an easy surgery... Unfortunately - I am one of "those" people who needs to be put out in order to be put out... I hate anestesia more than anything in the world - I think. I would much rather have a local anesthetic any day.

Anyways - thank you so much for speaking up and helping me feel more at ease with this.

Glad to hear you finally made the appointment D~. Its always better to find out answers than to suffer needlessly. Although I have to say that I don't like going to the drs either. Thanks Terry... I've been in your shoes - I hate to say it... Right after I had Victoria - I was having these massive headaches that would wake me up during the night... I had an eeg and several other tests... It wasn't until the MRI (which is how I learned I was claustrophobic...) - so I had to be rescheduled for an open MRI... Anyways they finally discovered that it was a sinus infection - cured with a simple round of strong antibiotics.
I sure hope they are able to get you feeling better soon and there is no need for anything else to be done.

What great news about Ruthie! She'll be so much less stressed with help for her animals.

I know - I hope they are all able to get in contact soon.

When you go the MK you should get the Sorcerer cards even if you don't have time to play the game. The cards are really beautiful. You can each get a new packet every day.

I will try to remember. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the details on the quilt. I really don't think I'll ever attempt one but if I do I might have to do a few sample squares to see how the chenille will look. I've looked at tons of photos online and the end results aren't always what I would have expected. I like your idea about keeping one of the layers uncut.

No problem - I hope you are willing to give it a try... It really wasn't that much work for as nice as it came out. The hardest part for me was wrestling with the bigness of the quilt and the actual cutting... I do recommend the chenille cutter by Olfa... I would have gotten it myself (for sure for next time) if I wouldn't have been so excited to dig into that project.

Mine is left and I thought gall bladder was right.

I hope, if you pain comes back - that you'll take yourself into the Dr. But I am so glad you are feeling better.

My pain is quite odd... For the most part, it is directly under the bottom part of my rib cage, it gravitates more to my right side than my left, but it has been known to wrap around to my back a lot. It's not a stabbing pain - it's just a constant radiating pain. When I feel it coming on, I have to immediately take something (ibuprofen/aleve) - the sooner I take it, the less amount of time I am in pain. The pain is so intense that I've been known to break out in sweat and cry... Most of the time, I am so exhaused afterwards that I fall asleep. It is sometimes very scary when this happens... I remember it happening once when MM was a puppy and he was locked downstairs - he could hear me crying and was trying to get to me. Yes - I will be very glad to have it over.

V must be so happy!!!

Sorry for the continued jacket saga.

V is very happy - and she has a gorgeous smile!

Thank you Sandra! I am hoping for answers too.

V is super excited about her braces being off - but she says it feels so weird.

Glad V got the braces off!

If it is gall bladder, it can be a pretty simple surgery if it is stones...I had mine out on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving and was out shopping with all the other crazy people on Black Friday.

Good luck!

I sure hope so Lynn... I am not a very good anesthesia person - I so badly HATE it.

**********************************************************

I don't have any RutIE updates for you... I've passed along all the necessary information, and I am praying they contact her soon.

**********************************************************

I don't have any jacket updates either. :( Due to all the appointments yesterday, I did not get a chance to call the officer back. I hope to do that this morning - otherwise tomorrow for sure.

**********************************************************

I am feeling lots of relief after seeing the Dr. yesterday. I really liked him a lot and wish I could keep him as my regular Dr. - but unfortunately, he is in the later stages of his career and only in the office one day a week - so he doesn't see any regular patients. Oh well, he gave me a few good names, so I have a follow up appt. with someone next week - after my ultra sound, so hopefully I can get the results at the same time.

**********************************************************

Despite all of my appointments yesterday, I was able to get into my sewing room for long enough to finish my applique. I plan to start assembly tomorrow.

I apologize that I don't have any pictures of V with out her braces... I took some at the orthodontist office yesterday, but she won't let me post those. :rolleyes1 Alli is planning to take her out on a photo shoot this weekend - so I hope to have some pictures for you all then. :flower3:

I hope you all have a magnificant day today! And thanks so much to all of you for the good thoughts yesterday - I really appreciate it. :grouphug:

:confused3 ladies please what is happening here I thought traditionally its a 'guy thing' to
avoid doctors like the plague and not take care of ourselves ! please stop the insanity of self diagnosis If you are blessed to have insurance use it If not get to a clinic
Please do not assume since you have similiar symptoms to a family member a neighbor OR the school lunch lady (sooo couldn't resist ;-) ) that you know what it is

I care about you all, doctors visits scary, but look around at your beautiful families, take a mental picture including yourself.....now remove yourself from the picture
You're no longer here how are they doing ?

lecture over

love the nephews baby romper looks so snuggly

happy for V
praying Ali is fine + that crap ends soon

have not heard from anyone yet re-Maxine my horse but
very optimistic

Arm pain excrutiating but its only been 10 days could be worse

I feel your love care & prayers and send it all back to you, especially
those of you dealing with own issues right now

RuthIE

Boy, I miss a day and look what all happens! So glad that there may be help coming for RuthIE!!! What a great network of special people here on the DIS and especially this thread! Hope they contact her soon and get it all worked out.:thumbsup2

D~ I am so glad you went to the doctor and it may be resolve soon. The pain you described would scare me too!:scared1: Hopefully it is just the gallbladder and you can have the surgery and be good as new. Better than new even.:goodvibes

I agree with RuthIE that we ladies need to go to the doctor on a timely basis. We have a lot of responsibilities to a lot of people and owe it to those we love to take really good care of ourselves. Having said that, I always wait before going.:rolleyes1 I attribute that to being in the health care profession at one time and seeing people coming into the ER with a hangnail. So I tend on the other side of the spectrum thinking "it's nothing. it will go away". But I'm trying to do better about taking care of myself.;)

Glad V got the braces off and is happy.

Can't wait to see pictures of your latest bag. Sounds as though you're close to finishing it. BTW I went to Target yesterday to get 3 or 4 grocery items...ended up spending $140!! I thought of you while I was there.:flower3:

Have a great day!

I survived the Dr. everyone. :woohoo: :rolleyes1

They seem to think it's my gall bladder... :confused3 I go in next week for an ultra sound and follow up.

Thanks for your good thoughts today - I really appreciate it. :grouphug:

D~
I hope that your pain is being caused by something that they can easily treat and it won't end up needing to be surgery to remove your gall bladder. But if it is, gall bladder surgery is a breeze. I had my gall bladder taken out several years ago. It wasn't a big deal at all. I felt so much better afterwards.

Thanks for the updates on RuthIE and on Alli's jacket. I am glad to hear that RuthIE is going to get some help and I hope that the girl doesn't end up connecting the jacket to Alli.

How great that V finally got her braces off. I know my girls just can't wait to get theirs off. It should be in the next couple of months.

Oh and I have to say that I am glad that somebody asked about the applique on the blue GAC holder. I didn't understand what the big red S was for either. What is the new game?

The lunch lady???!!! :confused3

wow, just wow!

~Jennifer
Jennifer - I didn't realize you had done the college program at WDW. :cool1:

I'm looking forward to seeing Vs pictures after her photoshoot with Alli. I guess that rubberband wearing paid off. I had to go back and re-read your PTR so I could see big pictures of all the bags and baby stuff you posted. All I have to say is WOW. Callie's Meg bag is so cute, love her expression. The camera strap is lovely and the GAC holders are perfect. Stitch is cool! Love the way Mickey's hat is sitting on his head on the Sorcerer Mickey bag and :woohoo: for a DIS Meet.

I love the overalls you made for the baby. I always made my kids wear those kinds of one-piece outfits. I love how they kept their tummies covered up and their diapers in place. That blanket is amazing. I'm sure that will be a big hit with mom and baby. Too bad you can't see the yellow flannel better. I'm also glad to hear that you don't like binding. Yours looks great but it makes me feel better about my troubles with bias tape ;)

I just wanted to say:  to you and Marianne for trying to figure out a way to help RuthIE with her animals.

RuthIE - hope you are feeling better and hope you have a speedy recovery. :flower3:

So glad to hear that V got her braces off.

And I'm delighted to know that you won your fear over the doctor and went to your appointment. Sending pixiedust: that they find the answers when you go for your ultrasound.

Glad to hear the good news that RuthIE will be getting some help with the animals.

guess I missed that you weren't feeling well, happy you got to the doctor though, hope the ultrasound will rule out gallstones, but heard the surgery is much easier than it used to be!

 for V getting her braces off...how do her teeth feel?

great that Marianne found some help for Ruthie! hope she is feeling better!

Where have i been that i didn't know about you not feeling well?!?!?!?! I am extremely angry at myself as a Diser and Friend!!!

D~ - coming out of hiding again to say I completely get avoiding going to the doctor. I am the same way! For me it's not a fear of the unknown; I've had plenty of experience with the medical field, and it has made me the way I am. :sad2:

I have been having "issues" a little lower for years, and kept hoping for menopause, and finally had a robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy last October. My surgeon said I had "the worst fibroids he had ever seen in a white woman". I didn't even know I had fibroids! And yes, I have gotten regular ladyparts checkups - for what they were worth. Imagine my delight when I learned that with RALH, apparently they usually remove your cervix too - so no more pap smears for me!!!!! :yay:

My recovery was a breeze, even though I had kind of a complicated surgery (for the doctor) due to the size of my uterus. Getting over the anesthesia was more difficult, but I truly had no pain from the surgery, particularly since I was living with constant pain for a couple of years prior to the surgery.

Good luck with your diagnosis and treatment - sending positive thoughts!

WAIT a dog gone minute here!

I had my cervix removed 10 years ago due to cancer and I STLLLLLLLLLL have to get a pap every year! So not fair!
