~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Because I care. :flower3: I promise more later. :grouphug:

Will you please post the wallets on my PTR when you have time.

Love everything everyone made. Those shirts are too cute and Andrea did an awesome job as always on everything..

QUESTION:
The thread that you bought from LCM. Is that embroidery thread? Because that is what it looks like. It also looks like the Floriani I buy so I was wondering what brand they carry.

My daughter got D's AG doll dress in the swap! We really love the dress (McKenna is wearing it right now).. the Magic Kingdom fabric is awesome and the small doll sized tag inside is too cute.

The Donald Bag was out of this world COOL! :thumbsup2

Jill

You are so lucky.

Am I reading correctly.:confused3

How in heavens name did you manage to have any fun if I wasn't there??????
princess:

:rotfl2: I know. That is why I did not go. I said why bother if Cheryl isn't going to be there:confused3

:rotfl:

Marianne - thank you so very much for sharing your home, your ear and your machines with me... also for letting me ride shot-gun all weekend. I couldn't ask for a better sewing buddy. Also, please thank Dave for welcoming me into your house as well... He was such a sport to open his house to a "stranger"... And he makes the BEST coffee!!! I hope you are getting some time to enjoy each other as a family today, as I know I arrived so soon after you got home from RI, and you didn't get much of a chance before I got there.

D~

You are so so so welcome, D! And Dave says the same :) I'm so glad you could come and stay!

I brought along a new set of legos for Phalen and Finn (they are so adorable!)

Ack! Um, just so everyone knows, my living room floor is currently short on flooring - so please excuse the "lovely" bare slab you see my children sitting on in that picture :)

Well, we're already planning next year and decided it needed to be MUCH closer to 200 miles south of the A so that a VIP would attend. . . know of anyone who might fit that description?

Love everything everyone made. Those shirts are too cute and Andrea did an awesome job as always on everything..

QUESTION:
The thread that you bought from LCM. Is that embroidery thread? Because that is what it looks like. It also looks like the Floriani I buy so I was wondering what brand they carry.

Michelle - it's Signature or Poly X40 (which are the same, just two different names for the same thread). It's super shiny and awesome :)

Yah - it wasn't that hard to fly alone... It was worse on the way home because my bags were so heavy, and I chose to carry-on only. I made the mistake of carrying my Vera Bradley Weekender bag cross body on my left shoulder, and slinging my backpack strap on to my left shoulder too - I noticed last night that I had several popped blood vessels on that shoulder... :crazy2: Note to self: Distribute the weight. LOL

Welcome!!! And thanks! :) I've sent you a PM. :beach:

I spent the day in my sewing room yesterday... And reconnecting with my family. I also organized some of my goodies from the trip. :faint: It was lots of fun to pull out everything and compare it to what I already had. Especially the thread I purchased, I was anxious to see that I got all the colors I needed, because I was going off of memory. I did pretty well, and I only have a hand full of colors that I need to order from Long Creek Mills... And the color chart I want to get - I was so jealous of the one Marianne purchased - if I am going to be ordering from such a long distance, I really need to have a chart like hers.

That's great that flying solo wasn't as bad as you probably thought it was. Glad you got to spend some time with your family just reconnecting.

Before I do my next mini-trip update, I wanted to show you all some of the Pixie Dust I received while I was in Charlotte...

This was from Beth (Blyssfull)... She digitized a portion of my store logo and embroidered it into a frame for me with a picture of Patience (she was very happy to finally recieve some adknowledgement) - it is super cool!!! Then she decorated a wine glass with LGMHs and a D - it's super cute! And she made a travel cup for me with Donald on it and on the back (you can't see) is "That Duck!" LOL...

20120821_144238.jpg

Those are some really great gifts!!! I love the wine glass!!!!

Marianne gave me the most amazing Donald book ever... It is FULL of artwork and Donald Duck history... It's a Donald encyclopedia - Super cool!!!

20120821_144301.jpg

Sounds like it's a pretty fun book. Nothing better for a fun loving Donald fan!!

Andrea made each of us luggage tags that we could choose ourselves - these are really awesome! I have made luggage tags before, and it's super hard to work with the vinyl, these are perfect and I love how they fold over. Thanks Andrea!! The girls love theirs too!

20120821_144425.jpg

Those all turned our really cute!! They all look like soo much fun!!

Then Lisa made all of us these adorable note cards! They have hidden Mickeys embossed into the note cards - and they are just so cool. I know I will have a hard time using them, because I will just want to save them for special occasions. Thank you Lisa!

20120821_144511.jpg

I agree special occasion's only!! lol But they do look great!

And finally - here is everything I purchased in Charlotte. I had a list with me of my upcoming bags - but I did not find a thing for any of those. I did try to find fabrics that I had never seen before, or thought I wouldn't see again. In the end, I only brought home 5 yards of fabric. I did purchase a ton of thread though... Mr. Rocket is super picky about his thread - and several months ago, Marianne sent me a spool from LCM to try out, and Mr. R seemed to like it - so I went with the full intention of getting lots of thread. And I did. I also got 4 large cones of serger thread, so I can take the expensive thread out of my serger... and a few odds n' ends goodies that were free-bees from the stores.

FB_IMG_13455646136061282.jpg

I hope everyone has a fantastic day today! I have to run to town to get some groceries, and V has her orientation today - and a possible hair cut this afternooon. I have every intention of getting in to my sewing room intermittantly through out the day.

D~

Darn it!!! No sneak peaks of fabric that could possibly be used on my bag!! :rotfl2: But still looks like you got a great haul from your shopping expedition!!

When we finished lunch - we decided to go check out some local fabric shops... Beth was having issues with her embroidery machine, and was hoping to get it into a shop while she was in Charlotte to be fixed. Unfortunately, they were too busy to accomodate her. :confused3

You see - Beth had designed these amazing shirts for our "fabric shop hop" - so we could all coordinate, and she still had one to go...

Aren't they cute?

557294_4084150434565_532416616_n.jpg

We decideed to head to Hancocks, which was near by where Rachel was going to play for Camp Rock... We did a little shopping there - and then we realized what time it was... We had to GO!

ACK! Traffic was bad, and we feared we wouldn't make it on time. And we still had to meet with MA's DH, so he could take the boys for the evening... :crazy2:

I will leave you all here for the day - because I have a few pics for the upcoming post. :cool1:

D~

Those are very cute shirts!!

Jill

Thanks Jill - I am glad you like it! I still need to get mine on a doll, so I can take pictures for everyone. I am hoping to do that tomorrow.

joining better late than never <3 I didn't know you had a TR!

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here! :)

Beth is so super duper talented those are just adorable.

I agree - I :lovestruc Beth!

I wouldn't mind seeing better close ups of the fabric you got (but if you are keeping it semi concealed for future use in bags I understand). ANd not fair -- you got purple thread in your gift pack -- I got a really dark olive green. Though, I am not complaining, a gift is a gift!

And I don't use vinyl in the luggage tags -- I use these report covers that you buy at Office Max -- so much easier to work with though still not perfect. And *thanks* for the close up of the luggage tags so you can see all my errors!

I remember you telling me that once, and I'd forgotten. I still think they are pretty awesome - and I didn't notice any mistakes at all! Thank you very much! :)

finally made it over....still trying to get caught up after our trip!

was fun to get to meet up with you and the other ladies! love my little wallet, Beth made mine a bit different, will post photos later, still need to edit and upload them and Megan loves the tinkerbell AG outfit too! your cards are MADE TO BE USED, so please use them!

I loved your wallet - that little bottle of glue was adorable! I promise that I will use the notecards (might have to send one to myself, however) :thumbsup2

if was ironic that we both flew out of the same gate on Monday, we didn't notice it was you until we had sat down and megan looked over and said "I think that is D mama" , then saw your wallet and said "yup its her"!!!

Yep - that was funny! It was just meant to be that we were able to say goodbye one last time. :wizard:

happy your flight home was easy, ours was good too, but a little delayed when we left Atlanta, got home at 1130pm seattle time, so still trying to get back on our schedule, dang time change

you got a great haul during the shopping trip, know they will be put to great use in your future creations!

Bummer about the delay out of Atlanta - but I am glad you and Megan are home safely.

I hate to say it, but I'm afraid to use the cards too! Maybe I will send one of mine to D so she has a purple one too :) Of course mine will be used!

We didn't. It was really awful and we all are lying about it.

ROFL!

Because I care. :flower3: I promise more later. :grouphug:

QUESTION:

I was going to answer - but Marianne already did below - and she knows better than I do. I have not had a chance to work with it yet - I am hoping to tomorrow.

You are so so so welcome, D! And Dave says the same :) I'm so glad you could come and stay!

Ack! Um, just so everyone knows, my living room floor is currently short on flooring - so please excuse the "lovely" bare slab you see my children sitting on in that picture

Oops, sorry MA... I am so distracted by the cuteness of those boys that I don't even notice your floors. Her DH had just ripped up the carpet a few weeks prior to my arrival... He had just finished the kitchen floors right before we all got there and they look AWESOME!!!

Well, we're already planning next year and decided it needed to be MUCH closer to 200 miles south of the A so that a VIP would attend. . . know of anyone who might fit that description?

Yes... I am just hoping that our map has the A in the same place as her's does....

Michelle - it's Signature or Poly X40 (which are the same, just two different names for the same thread). It's super shiny and awesome :)

What she said. :smokin:

I know - and I was specifically looking for some fabric for your bag too... Oh well, I do have a few other ideas. :thumbsup2

Those are very cute shirts!!

Beth just did an amazing job!

Yesterday was crazy for me... I worked in my sewing room in the morning. Victoria had her 8th grade orientation - so we went to school for a bit. She has a lot of her same teachers from last year, so we just hung around long enough to do her locker a few times, purchase her organizer and get her school pictures done. After that - we went grocery shopping, which we tried to hurry through because there were storms moving in. We ran the groceries home - put them away as quickly as we could, then off to get V's hair cut. It turned out really cute - I should have taken pictures, but I didn't.

I have to work today - so no sewing room. Then I am off work all next week because we are headed to the lake. Josh's dad and step mom are up from NOLA, and it's been several months since the girls have seen them.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today! :lovestruc

You weren't there? Every time I looked up - I swore I saw someone hiding behind a post - I just assumed it was you?

You didn't think it was strange that I didn't come out when drinks were served???

:drinking1

We didn't. It was really awful and we all are lying about it.

FINALLY. Someone who is honest. I knew it dagnabbit. I was missed and no one had fun. :lovestruc

Beth is so super duper talented :) those are just adorable.

Aww, Chiara, Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm really not that talented. HA! I just can merge designs... haha.. And Marianne helped me with the tshirt wording, I had it all out of order and she skilled it up by putting it in correct order for stitching out.

And I don't use vinyl in the luggage tags -- I use these report covers that you buy at Office Max -- so much easier to work with though still not perfect. And *thanks* for the close up of the luggage tags so you can see all my errors!

That is so smart! and creative. I never would have thought to do that. And we LOVE! our luggage tags.. they are perfect to me. :)

And I love my note cards from Lisa as well! I started being penpals with the chick from Europe and I can't wait to send her one and brag about all my creative friends. :)

We had a huge chuckle at dinner about your six finger typing and even said we hope that we'd be able to have a Dismeet one day where you could attend!

I had such a great time in Charlotte. It was such a blast spending some time with estrogen for a change and getting to hang out with everyone in person. I kid you not, everyone's personalities match their posts. I hope we can all make it happen at least once a year! And I'd love to go back to LCM and enjoy the store without all the buzz of meeting everyone. The store and Charlie were both pretty amazing!

I have to take my machine to the Spa this weekend. I'm having a small anxiety attack thinking about him being gone for two weeks. But I'm *thinking* about trying to actually sew something while he's getting pampered. We'll see if I get up the nerve. :D

I know - I agree with you on everything... Especially Mr. Charlie - I have a huge post about him coming up in the next day or two. I took so many pictures at LCM - those machines fascinated me, and I loved Mr. Charlie!

I agree - Charlotte was great and I would love to go back to LCM someday too!

Nothing exciting in my life... LOL I worked all day yesterday - V requested tacos for dinner, so that's what we had. Today I will be sewing all day... I feel like I am falling behind, I may have to bring my stuff to the lake next week, because I have no idea how I am going to get it all done?

I will try for another Charlotte update this afternooon. :)

D~

<---- Trying to up my post count again. Duplicate post.

popcorn:: Thought I read somewhere that someone was uploading some more pics tonight :confused3

And here I thought you banished the boys to your nicely decorated garage :rotfl:

I am trying - but I can't get my video to upload. :( I need to hook my phone up to my computer and try it that way.

So I guess I should start making I Spy bags so I'll have something to share with everyone.

Oh, the pressure. :crowded:

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

That is me waiting on the video. That is NOT me waiting for an eye spy bag with Cheryl's fingers.

ETA The screwy Disboards can't even get my popcorn smiles right!!!!!! GRRRRR!!!!

I will plug my phone into my PC in a few mintues here to see if I can get it uploaded. I just got frustrated yesterday, so I gave up.

I made some awesome progress on my bag yesterday - I should have pictures for all of you this afternoon.

I am uber excited... You know all that thread I purchased at Long Creek Mills? I knew Mr. R was OK with it, because MA sent me a spool several months ago, so I could test it out. But I was still a bit aprehensive. Yesterday - I sat down and Mr. R and decided to do my whole applique for this bag with that thread (I love how shiny it is, vs. Gutermann - which isn't)... And it turned out marvelous! I was so happy with it! So, I can't wait to show all of you my applique!

I was also having a hard time trying to decide what to applique on the wallet - but Josh came through with a BRILLIANT idea! So, I got that all ready to go last night.

I need to start on my next bag tomorrow, because we are leaving for the lake until Thurs/Fri - and I didn't schedule this week off. I kind of gave Josh a bit of a talk last night, I told him that from here on out, if he wants to take trips like this - he needs to tell me waaaaay in advance, so I can schedule that week off of making bags too. As it is, I may have to take Mr. R to the lake with me, and do the applique up there. Sigh... Otherwise, it will throw me behind schedule for a week or two until I can catch back up again.

Anyways, I am very happy with how this bag is coming together - I was a little worried about it, but I think I have managed to pull it off. popcorn:: With Josh's help, of course.

Ok - Off to try and upload the video...

D~

My apologies... I totally misunderstood Judy - she has asked that I not post the videos - I totally understand.

I will - however - do an update sometime today. Which will include my one meesly picture of Rachel at Camp Rock... I cannot believe I have NO pictures from our night at Judys? I could have sworn that someone took a picture of all of us together.

D I have a photo of us at Judys....will get it emailed to every hopefully next week! have a great week at the lake!

A few days at the lake sounds like fun. Can't wait to see your vision of Josh's idea for the wallet.

I have NO pictures from the weekend since I was hoping to be able to download everyone's pictures. Glad to see Mr. R likes the thread from LCM.

This turned out to be one of my favorite bags!

I love how the balloons pop off of the black of the bag - and I love that there's a hidden LGMH!

Check out that awesome thread from LCM!

Here is Josh's idea... He wanted me to do Mickey Mouse's gloves holding the balloon strings - and I love the idea - it was perfect for this bag!
