Aug 16-20 EWR or PHL? (UPDATED: GOT A DING!!)

Southwest had a Ding fare yesterday from PHL to TPA for $44 each way. For that price it's worth it to rent a car and drive the hour and ten minutes from Tampa to WDW. :thumbsup2

There was a Ding! for $44 PHL to MCO. That was a couple of weeks ago. It may come up again. Did you book your tickets at the regular fare or are you just waiting for a Ding! ?

I didn't think of the Tampa idea but since I'm under 25, I pay a surchage of 50 dollars just to rent a car.

We haven't book any air yet but we're getting nervous so I think this weekend we are going to just book Southwest from Philly and hope for a Ding.

First, congrats on your accomplishments!! :thumbsup2 You certainly deserve a Disney vacation.
We used TPA-PHL for our return flight in May and it really was no big deal. It took about 1 hr. of very easy, relaxing highway driving with little traffic (compared to up here!) The only reason we didn't want to fly into TPA is we had to fly after work, our kids are small and we didn't want to be checking into our place at midnight. Make sure you download DING to your desktop and keep checking. :surfweb: BTW, are you near Franklin Park? My brother lives there. Have a great trip and best wishes with your new job! :cool1:

Thanks! :thumbsup2 My parents actually took me in May as a present and we stayed at BWI. Loved that resort! I'm going to price a fare into Tampa and see how much a rental car would be and if it makes a price difference after the surcharge and all. I figure it's worth a shot. I don't have the Ding on my mac laptop because for some reason it kept shutting down, but I have it on my windows PC. I apparently missed the really good ding 2 weeks ago. :badpc: Jet blue out of EWR is 300 dollars and continental is about 240 but I can't get a morning flight outboud. United out of Philly is about 262 and right now Southwest is about 250 but I have a connecting flight outbound which I hate. so as of now it looks like United is my best bet. I'm about 25 minutes from Franklin Park!

Thanks for the help!

kimmar, Yeah I'm not too popular around these parts of the woods. :confused3 :teeth:

Okay so without the surcharge I get hit with, it'd be about 20 dollars cheaper than flying into Philly, and we'd have a rental car. But once I do the surcharge, it's another 250 dollars since it's 50 a day. It looks like I might just have to book United out of Philly, since it has the better flight times and it's nonstop.

Tim- Since you are in central Jersey don't forget about Spirit out of Atlantic City. They have been running sales.

If you're pricing United out of PHL, check out USAirways' prices. Most United flights PHL-MCO are operated by USAirways anyway. They have different flight numbers but it's the same plane. Check the flight times on both websites to make sure. Have a great trip!

BTW, has anyone out there ever gotten a great price from Spirit? I always check their website just in case but I've never found them to even come close to SWA or USAirways. Just curious.

Keep checking those Ding Fares. SW has plenty of seats open for the time you are traveling. I was lucky enough to snag a $44. Ding Fare a couple of weeks ago for August 16. Good Luck!

:goodvibes :goodvibes

Just checked SW out of PHL for 8/16 thru 8/20......8/16 looks wide open the 20th coming back only has two or three flights (two early A.M. ns and one evening with a stop getting into PHL around 10:30 p.m.) open at the lowest fare. But, the fare is $205.90 rt into MCO and back. If you haven't booked yet I'd sit tight through this week and keep checking EVERY day SEVERAL times a day. SW hasn't had a sale for almost two weeks now and it really appears flights for later this summer are not anywhere near full........my guess is you'll catch a good sale by the end of the week. I'm booked already for mid October for four seats, but, I plan to sit close to my screen this week and hopefully walk away with a fairly large credit from SW that I can use for our January trip. So far my fares are $217.10 rt, but, I'm hoping to get them down to the $137.10 rt (that's what I've paid my last few trips). They started at $241.10, so I've got a $96.00 credit already.

billy and donna,

We sat tonight for a good hour or two and checked EVERYTHING (even though i've been doing that for 2 weeks), from White plains, to every discount airline out of EWR and PHL, to ACY flights, to Long island flights, to BWI.

I'm really hoping for a Ding! I look about 3 times a day..AM, noon, and PM, but I'll check 6 times a day now.

The flights coming back are alot more full than going there, so I really think I'll get a ding for M-F flights and I"ll just pay the 99 internet fare for the 1 stop leaving at 5 and getting in at 10:30. I wouldn't mind that!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

kimmar, I'm telling you..i've looked everywhere like I said above...I'll PM you if I see anything good!

I checked today at 8 am..no ding! Checked at noon. Ding for 49 dollars!!!

I booked one way so far and I'm going to book coming back on another flight that I found cheaper!

Thanks to all those helped especially Donna for the PM!

:cool1:
