Aug 03 2008 Magic (West Coast)

hey all -10 here schools have been closed the last two days. Mexico sure sounds good about now!!

Hi all! Out of curiousity, I did a pretend booking today. If we were to book today, we'd have to pay $952 more for our cat 10 room!!! I can't believe it!!! I knew the repos went up and up on 1/31 to being sold out, but this must mean our cruise is getting more bookings too since the price has already went up this much. Sure glad I booked first thing last wed!!! Funny thing was I was trying to book for 8/10 sailing, saw the spr available, got almost done with the booking before I realized I had somehow selected 8/3 sailing. I figured I'd better just go ahead and book it since I had it rather than backing out of it and checking the other sail date. Glad I did that now. I just can't believe that people (myself included) have to book this much in advance to get what we want. If I told any of my family members, they'd think I was crazy to book a vacation this far out!!!

p.s. Also in my pretend booking, main dining no longer available!

So far I have saved $1034,
I was lucky as I had a 10% discount for moving a rebooked cruise onboard.

My pretend booking for the same cruise and room category hasn't changed at all :confused3

I think it all depends on when you booked and what catogory
Some sell out fasters than others.

By the time the cruise rolls around I suspect most of the early bookers will have saved at least a grand or more.

I called right at 5:00AM pst on Jan 31, waited 10 minutes to speak to a reservation assistant, waited another 30 minutes until the computers were able to book cruises for the Disney Magic. I believe I was one of the first telephone bookings that morning.

BTW, LOLA2 and Ct_TiggerFan, I guess I better not tell you what the weather is here :rolleyes1

Just curious since we booked 8/3/08. I hadn't researched weather trends out west, but it seems like this is hurricane season out west too during this time of year? Anyone have any links to historical trends?

On another thread, you asked about hurricane season. On the 07-17-2005 Mexican Riviera cruise, the Magic was chasing Tropical Storm Eugene until Eugene turned west while the Magic headed north. Cruisers onboard that cruise were reporting that the ship was rocking pretty good for about a day.

I booked online right at 7am CST...no waiting at all. Was done within 15-20 minutes tops. Perhaps you are in a different category? From looking at the allseas website, it looks like lower categories are selling out faster (the call us reference), so I'm thinking tier pricing might have kicked in for some of the lower categories. I'm cat 10.

Interesting. Thanks DL_DCA_fans!
We've chased them before! ha ha. Went on the Wonder in sept 05 after katrina and followed rita. Our ports got shuffled around a bit, but it was still an awesome cruise! I just wondered if we had any concerns at all on the west coast.

Weird...I just did another pretend booking and same category is only $400 more. Maybe I did something wrong yesterday. Oh well....just glad I'm on the ship!

Be carefull with all those pretend bookings or you just may end up on this cruise twice :rotfl2:

LOL!!! And on a few others! Ha Ha.

I've been pricing a little because as it stands right now, I'm leaving baby at home. We have 3 kids, who will be ages 8, 6, and baby will be 1 yr 10 months. I've been test pricing 2 cabins for 5 people versus a category 4. To go to 2 cabins in a category 10 and bring the baby, it'd cost us almost $1700 more. I know lots of people bring babies, but we've generally been the type "I'm not hauling diapers." So, odds are baby will stay home w/grandma. She'll have plenty of time for trips later.

Its gonna be a long year and half in my household
I told my dw Beth I made the reservations and needless to say she is wild about going to Calif. It will be our first trip to the west coast.

We hope to see Universal, San Diego (Sea World, Sand Diego Z00) Disneyland and Calif Adventure. Oh and I get to celerbrate my Bday while at DisneyLand.

And we get to cruise on the Magic again too :cool1:

Needless to say we are keeping this quite this year from our dd

Now that 2008 is planned I guess we need to work on this year :rotfl2:,
Well back to the computer and more planning :surfweb:

I sure hope we get more people signed up for this cruise
so we can get this thread started

Hi everyone! Going to count on you all to get me excited and pumped about this cruise as it's been a very rough, emotional road to get here.

We just booked today and are in Secret Porthole room #5520. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise.

Cast:

Me (Gina - single Mom)
DS Hayden (age 15 at time of cruise)
DS Jensen (age 13 at time of cruise)

Welcome onboard!

Look's like we'll be neighbors! We've got #5522 - 5524.
Our eldest DS (Chad) will also just have turned 13 at cruise time.

Hi All,

Just found this thread and was so excited. We have just booked this cruise via DVC and will be in a Cat.4 room 8558. This is our second cruise having done a 7 nighter in 2003.

Happy Cruisers:
Me - dad (42)
DW (44)
DS (13)
DD (10)

Hope to stay with some relatives in Newport Beach either prior to or after cruise and have 2/3 days at Disneyland and maybe Universal. Never been to Mexico before so this is something new. Only downside for us is the 11 hour flight from the UK to LA...still well worth it though!

Hope to get to know you all by the time of the cruise...perhaps we ought to run a sweepstake on how many pages this thread can get to before departure
:)
