Aug 03 2008 Magic (West Coast)

Hi everyone! Going to count on you all to get me excited and pumped about this cruise as it's been a very rough, emotional road to get here.

We just booked today and are in Secret Porthole room #5520. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise.

Hi All,

Just found this thread and was so excited. We have just booked this cruise via DVC and will be in a Cat.4 room 8558. This is our second cruise having done a 7 nighter in 2003.

Happy Cruisers:
Me - dad (42)
DW (44)
DS (13)
DD (10)

Hope to stay with some relatives in Newport Beach either prior to or after cruise and have 2/3 days at Disneyland and maybe Universal. Never been to Mexico before so this is something new. Only downside for us is the 11 hour flight from the UK to LA...still well worth it though!

Hope to get to know you all by the time of the cruise...perhaps we ought to run a sweepstake on how many pages this thread can get to before departure
:)

Adios Amigos

Welcome to the board and cruise.
This will be our 2nd DIsney cruise.
My dd(Caitlin will be 11 on this cruise)

Welcome Gina & Ian.Whiteley! I haven't been to the west side of mexico so I'm really excited. DH went to DLR as a child, but I'ver never been to CA so I can't wait for that as well!

Welcome new cruisers !!!

We have an Alaskan cruise scheduled for Aug 2007 but I am more excited for the 2008 DCL Mexican Riviera cruises.

Being from Southern California, it was very cool seeing the Magic in our own backyard (not literally).

Has anybody heard when the excursions will be released?

In PV, we did the resort beach but I am thinking about the zipline (if they offer that excursion).

I havent heard of any excusions yet, but I suspect they will be simular to 2005

I have been looking into some places to hit after the cruise,
It looks like we will be staying in Calif for a week after the cruise.

Maybe San Diego zoo & sea world, Universal and of course DisneyWorld
I will be meeting some friends that will be sailing on the eastbound repo before they sail.

Now I need to work on what my family will do in 2007 :cool1:

We are going on our 1st Alaska cruise this June. Where are you sailing from? Which cruise line are you on? We are thinking about doing the zip line in Alaska through their rainforest and would also love to do one in Mexico.

RCCL northbound sailing from Vancouver. Hadn't really thought about the zipline in Alaska!

Anybody have a good link to what the excursions were in 05? I haven't even begun to think about excursions yet because I'm clueless on what is available as far as options. See ticker below going to St. Lucia this Thanksgiving so planning for that as well. It'll be my parents 40th wedding anniversary, and they reserved a villa for themselves and their 4 kids (I'm one of them) and our spouses!! So, 10 of us in a villa with our own maid, cook, and private pool! No chairhogs here! No kids for a week! Other grandma is babysitting for us. Beach is about a 15 minute walk. Supposedly can see Martinique from our villa. Woohoo! Great parents! What kind of present can I get them that will top that? Anyone ever been to St. Lucia? Any ideas what to do there?

Sounds like a wonderfull trip Good luck with your planning

I found this trip report from 2005 that is pretty detailed about the Magic 7 night Aug 6 thru 13th Mexican Rivera cruise

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=888926&referrerid=&highlight=Cabo+San+Lucas

I also found the following for Cabo San Lucas

Cabo Premiere Beach Escape
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=854030&referrerid=&highlight=Cabo+San+Lucas

One person posted the following

Most of the fun in Cabo is accessable from where the ship's tenders dock...panga fishing, rocks tours, quick cab to the "million dollar beach," shopping, restaurants. Cabo is a beautiful, safe town with lots to do right at the main marina or a short walk away. Also, the water taxis can double as a quick (1-2 hr.) sightseeing tour that includes the rocks, beach, marina, etc.
Some of our best shore excursions off of Disney (and other) cruise ships have just been walking along the pier or street and seeing what comes along -- snorkeling, fishing, sightseeing, etc. Use your instincts, be sensible, and you may have a better time than the planned events offer!

There is a lot info just go to the Trip reports section and do a few searched on the places we will hit

Hello everyone. We will be there. Myself, DW, DD(8) and DS(5). This will be our third DCL cruise and first out of the West Coast. We are in 8530. Hopefully we can keep this thread going.

Welcome Aboard,
Its shaping up to be a fun cruise.

This will be our second disney cruise.

The anger/sadness/disappointment/heartbreak over the Eastbound Repo snafu is slowly going away and I am REALLY looking forward to this cruise!

Wondering if there will be any other single/solo parents on this cruise? Looks like my DS's will have quite a few fellow cruisers in their age range. They don't know about this cruise. I made the mistake of telling them about the Eastbound Repo and when I ended up having to cancel it, they were VERY upset...don't want more heartbreak so I won't tell them about this cruise until much later!

We are not telling Caitlin for a while, its not due to disappointment, but we wouldnt be able to control her excitment for going on another disney cruise

Our good friends from home will be in 8516. The have three sons; 14,12,10. We work together and cruised together last year on the Magic.

Yippeee! Only 532 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure hope I meet some other singles so that I don't have to go to Palo alone :cool2:

If we get enough people on this thread maybe we will have enough to book the back room as a group. Then you wouldnt have to go alone.
