I'm thinking about auditioning for DCL in a few weeks when they hold auditions here in NYC. I have a few questions for those of you who have seen the shows:

1) Are there any female character roles? By that I don't mean big fuzzy characters. Basically any female character who isn't a leading lady or ingenue. Some Disney examples of that type would be Cinderella's Fairy Godmother or Ursula.

2) If there are any such characters, what songs do they sing? What vocal range - soprano/mezzo/alto (high, medium, low)? Are the roles more comedic or dramatic?

3) What other kinds of things do the actors do on the ship besides perform in the nightly shows? I may have some past experience that I could put on my resume if it ties into these other job requirements.

Thanks a bunch!

Jen (struggling NY actor)

sorry I can't help but I wanted to wish you luck.

I do remember the Fairy Godmother being in Disney Dreams. I think she sang Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.
Good luck!

I think Megora sings a solo in the Hercules show. Sorry I don't recall the name of the song (something about lousy at being in love)?? (It would be on the Hercules video or soundtrack) Not that you'd be trying out for that part necessarily, but it might be something to take! I think it's really cool to hear about young artists going through the process, and would love to know the outcome! Best of Luck!!!!!

Hey Jen! I am also auditioning, early Feb. but not for Disney. Ok, I don't know if any of this helps but...
You have the hercules info, the Disney Dreams production has more secondary roles, mostly singing & dancing in chorus stuff, there are lots of little bits where different cameos of Princesses and characters come out. As far as singing goes, I have no clue what the ranges were, I'm not a singer. There are also lots of Princesses and other characters onboard, Alice, Wendy from Peter Pan etc...you have to be in character to do meet & greets...I know they have some improv stuff some times too, if that's up your alley? I know they are bringing in a new show, maybe that is what the auditions are for? Anyway, if you have any more questions, let me know...
Hope I helped a bit..

Thanks to everyone!

I think I'm going to go with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo if I can find it in a slightly lower key. Then I'll do a comedic monologue and possibly a contrasting song, maybe not Disney. I'll let you all know if anything eventful happens!
