We are starting to gear up for our season at the theme park, and I am considering auditioning to be in their entertainment. I did Disney entertainment a few years ago and love it. I have been working rides at our theme park, but I hope to one day return to Disney and audition to be an equity singer and/or dancer. Doing shows here would give me something to put on my resume for Disney.

I have never done this kind of audition before. With Disney, they taught us everything. So I'm struggling to figure out what songs to use for my audition. I'm probably overthinking it, but any advice from those who have been there would be great! Here is what the website says:

Dancers, please prepare a jazz routine (no longer than two minutes) and one song to sing. You must provide your own accompaniment whether it is a pianist, a CD or a cassette tape. We will provide a CD/tape player and a piano. A cappella auditions will not be accepted. We look for dancers who are exciting with an aggressive jazz style. Please do not perform tap or ballet. Your entire audition, including singing and dancing, should not exceed four minutes.

I did a competition dance to Mony Mony when I was a teen that I could modify fairly easily. I have also thought about doing the new Enrique song I Like It, but after listening to the lyrics, I'm not sure that it's an appropriate audition piece for a family friendly park. Other suggestiongs for a song with a good driving beat?

As far as singing, I'm somewhat stumped on that one too. I can sing from the f below middle c to the high a above the treble clef. My best notes though are between a low g and a high f. I'm not sure if I should sing a ballad or do something more up tempo. People who are auditioning for singing only are asked to do both. My voice is definitely more suited for pop. I have considered songs like Defying Gravity, but it seems like everybody does that song.

Finally, does anybody know a good software program to cut songs? The last time I had to cut and splice, we didn't have computer programs. You recorded from a CD to a tape and simply hit pause whenever you wanted to cut something out!

Thanks for any advice!

Sorry, one more thing. I will be shaving my head in March so I figure I will most likely need to provide a wig if I do become a performer instead of returning to rides. I have looked in the American Cancer Society's TLC catalogue. Does anybody know if those will stay on when you're dancing? I don't have much experience with wigs other than the occasional Disney wig, but then I had hair to anchor it to!
