"Au revior...that's French for get out of here!" A Jan '13 AoA TR COMPLETE

Hi  joining in. I think it's wonderful that you and your sister are enjoying Disney together.

It seems like you lucked out with low crowds in Animal Kingdom. Gotta love that!

I love Dinosaur!! It's soooo much fun!!!!

Wow, I've never seen that dinosaur you guys took pictures with! That's so weird! Haha, but it looks like the crowds weren't bad at all with you private safari and all! ;)

It was part of a Dinosaur garden type thing that was to the left of the Dinosaur entrance. We were hoping there would be lots to climb on but the rest of the dinos were sort of lurking behind bushes and stuff.

Joining in too! Great report so far...looking forward to more!

:welcome:

Thanks for joining! Love your username- grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize!:rotfl:

Our photopass CD is on its way! I'm so excited! I think it'll be here sometime this week so I'll add a quick update with some of the pictures once it does arrive.

We left off with a mickey ice cream bar and us trying to decide what to do next. Conveniently, the bench we sat on was right across from the entrance to the Winnie the Pooh character greet. We hadn't really planned on spending time waiting for characters but the wait time was only 10 minutes so we figured we'd go for it. I know we're both so glad we did!

These two had been goofing off while they waited for us to come over

tumblr_miqha1zf461r9q7wso2_500.jpg

And were quickly embarrassed when they realized we were waiting!

Meeting Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore were some of the best character greetings we had all trip! On top of that, the wait line was cool and had a fan blowing on it which was nice considering how warm the sun was that morning.

This experience coupled with the short waits had really changed our minds on trying to meet characters so we headed over to Camp Minnie Mickey to see who else we could meet.

Look who we found!

Pocahontas was just hanging out so we stopped for a picture. I was really excited because I didn't know she frequented the area!

After meeting her, we decided to see Minnie seeing as she hadn't been a breakfast.

tumblr_miqhdcvOZ71r9q7wso1_500.jpg

Baloo and and King Louie had a short line so we jumped over and met them too. King Louie was sad to report he had yet to make fire, haha! :rotfl: I guess we only took PP pictures here so I'll have to post those later too.

Chip and Dale were also in the area but they had a long line so we decided to pass on them because we knew they'd be at Garden Grill later in the week.

While waiting in line for either Minnie or King Louie and Baloo we ran into a Goofy Challenge winner. Of course, we congratulated her and explained that as fellow runners we were really impressed. She said she was from California and would be running the Tink half next weekend to get her coast to coast medal. Seven medals in seven days! Wow! :worship:

Now I think it was a little after noon and we decided it was time to head to the Studios for the second half of our day. As with most of the trip we had great luck with the bus system and walked out to find a DHS bus waiting which we got right on.

Really, for most of the trip we had awesome luck with the bus system. There was only one time where we we completely dumbfounded by the wait, but I'll get to that in a few days.

Upon arriving at DHS I immediately made DSis stop for PP pictures in front of the hat (which I'll post later this week.)

Here's one I've got of just that hat :goodvibes

After that we wandered back towards TSMM figuring it wouldn't hurt to check on the line. DSis had ridden it before but I never had and she insisted we would want to try and go more than once because it was awesome! Of course, being the middle of the afternoon, the line was crazy and we decided not to wait. At this point, we were starting to lose it a little. The crowds were much, much bigger here, it was hot, we were hungry and didn't have a plan. Probably not the best combination.

While we were in that corner of the park we rode Backlot Tour which is one of my favorite DHS attractions. I'll be sad if the rumors of scrapping it are true (though I'm pretty sure they are.)

Walt's plane that he used to scout land in Florida.

With food being a must we headed over to Backlot Express and grabbed chicken nuggets, carrot sticks and a parfait to share. Seeing as it was pretty standard fair I wasn't expecting much but it was pretty good. Then again, we were so hungry, we probably wouldn't have cared either way!

Next Update: Making a plan of attack

Great meet and greet pictures!

What was Winnie the Pooh doing with your sister's sweatshirt? And what was he doing when he had his back turned to you with his arms folded?

He was trying to wear Cait's sweatshir, but he was disappointed that it wouldn't fit.

He noticed the Mickey head necklace I had on and was mad that I didn't have a Winnie the Pooh one on. I told him I 'forgot' that one at home which made him feel better :rotfl2:

Which are more easier to handle - Dinosaurs or horses? ;)

Horses, for sure...that's why I only take on the dinosaurs once in a while :thumbsup2

The character interaction we had that day in Animal Kingdom was some of the best I've ever had! Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore were great, and I didn't even realize that we could meet Pocahontas anywhere until we stumbled upon her.

Going into this trip, I wasn't particularly interested in meeting characters...I just didn't think it was worth waiting in line for. However, these short lines and great interactions changed my mind for sure, and I'm so glad it worked out that way!

Not sure how I missed that you started a TR!?!?! Ugh. Going back to read now, can't wait to hear all about your trip! :)

Our Photopass pictures came today! :cheer2: Yay!

As promised, here are a few of the things I've mentioned so far in the trip report.

I tried to avoid wearing my backpack in as many pictures as possible because the print is... well, less than desirable. I bought it for the size...and because it was on sale :confused3

Cearly, the bag still made its fair share of cameos. In the words of my mother: "it looks like you have some sort of strange tumor between you guys"

Your mom's tumor comment had me laughing :lmao:

Honestly, it doesn't look bad. In fact, sort of reminds me of the colors and patterns at Animal Kingdom.

Yeah, that's what I sort of thought too!

Great TR!! Love all the pictures!

Also, thank you for sharing the FPshare link. I'm going to have to investigate. :D

Thanks for joining in! Definitely take a look into sharing, its a great deal especially for those who aren't sure how many pictures they're going to end up with over the course of the trip.

After a rough two weeks I'm finally on spring break and am going to try to update every day this week! Get excited! Also, keep an eye open for my next PTR because I'm booking this week- woohoo! :cool1:

Finally back! With six tests, the past two weeks were grueling. For any of you college grads reading- trust me, you're not missing out on anything! I'd take a full time job over this any day!

When we left off, DSis and I had just arrived at DHS where we found a lot of people and a lot of heat. We jumped on Backlot Express, stopped for lunch and knew it was time to make a plan of action. Knowing we had another day in DHS later in the week, we decided to devote today to seeing as many shows as we could.

Looking back, I've learned a valuable lesson about writing TRs and that is to take notes. I remember a lot of the things we did but don't remember the exact order we did them in. Maybe the heat fired my mind a little, haha! After talking with DSis who had the same lack of memory, we decided that on the next trip we would sit down each night and take some recap notes. Either way, I'll breeze over what I know we did and include some pictures.

We rode Star Tours for the first time and were really surprised at how fun it was. Usually I'm not a fan of motion simulator rides but this one was a lot of fun. DSis especially liked it because she was the rebel spy! I couldn't figure out who Vader was talking about and totally missed her on the video screen, though.

We also caught the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade. It was a little hot to stand in the sun but it was fun to see the characters.

We caught Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Lights, Motor, Action! I'd never seen the latter but liked it a lot. I caught a few pictures of Lightening McQueen during his cameo!

We wanted to try and catch Indiana Jones today but couldn't make a show time this late in the afternoon so we figured that would have to wait for later in the week.

At this point I think it was pretty much time for our ADRs at the Sci-Fi Drive-In. The atmosphere of the place was fun. Because there was only two of us, we ended up 'hitch-hiking' in the back of a car with another party in it. Really, it wasn't awkward at all and I hardly noticed.

8567549462_441bf6b726.jpg

For dinner, I had the Veggie Burger and an orange milkshake. DSis had a Turkey Sandwich and an Oreo Cookie milkshake.

8566450625_fcffb84740.jpg

The shakes were great! The food was only okay. I loved the sliced vegetables on the burger but though the veggie patty itself was only okay. DSis thought the turkey was okay too. At this point we were sort of 'fooded out' for the day and decided to go with the fruit salads for dinner. These were good, and light which was nice seeing as I was feeling pretty stuffed right now.

After dinner is a little fuzzy, but I know that around 7:00 we lined up for Fantasmic.

Waiting in line!

Once we finally got into the theater, we realized there was no reason to have to line up early. The side sections hadn't even been opened. We snuck right down to the front row, pumped to have an up close, unobstructed view. However, once the show started we realized that the front row wasn't the best seat in the house. With the water screens spraying and the breeze blowing, we ended up being wet, and chilly for most of the show.

No matter the seats or the temperature, Fantasmic was great as usual. I think I always forget what an awesome show that is. The exit music is one of my favorite and always leaves me uplifted!

We were starting to get pretty tired at this point but decided we wanted to try and jump on ToT and RnR before the night was out. TnT is always one of my favorites. When we reached the top of the drop and the windows opened up to show the whole park lit up in front of us, I had that moment. You know- that one where it finally hits you. We had talked about this trip for years and we were finally here. It was really magical, and if we weren't about to drop another couple of stories I probably would have pinched myself. :lmao:

After TnT we waited about 20 minutes for RnR before calling it a night. We headed out of the park and pretty much got right on a bus to head home.

Next Update: Day two!
