Finally back! With six tests, the past two weeks were grueling. For any of you college grads reading- trust me, you're not missing out on anything! I'd take a full time job over this any day!
When we left off, DSis and I had just arrived at DHS where we found a lot of people and a lot of heat. We jumped on Backlot Express, stopped for lunch and knew it was time to make a plan of action. Knowing we had another day in DHS later in the week, we decided to devote today to seeing as many shows as we could.
Looking back, I've learned a valuable lesson about writing TRs and that is to take notes. I remember a lot of the things we did but don't remember the exact order we did them in. Maybe the heat fired my mind a little, haha! After talking with DSis who had the same lack of memory, we decided that on the next trip we would sit down each night and take some recap notes. Either way, I'll breeze over what I know we did and include some pictures.
We rode Star Tours for the first time and were really surprised at how fun it was. Usually I'm not a fan of motion simulator rides but this one was a lot of fun. DSis especially liked it because she was the rebel spy! I couldn't figure out who Vader was talking about and totally missed her on the video screen, though.
We also caught the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade. It was a little hot to stand in the sun but it was fun to see the characters.
We caught Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Lights, Motor, Action! I'd never seen the latter but liked it a lot. I caught a few pictures of Lightening McQueen during his cameo!
We wanted to try and catch Indiana Jones today but couldn't make a show time this late in the afternoon so we figured that would have to wait for later in the week.
At this point I think it was pretty much time for our ADRs at the Sci-Fi Drive-In. The atmosphere of the place was fun. Because there was only two of us, we ended up 'hitch-hiking' in the back of a car with another party in it. Really, it wasn't awkward at all and I hardly noticed.
For dinner, I had the Veggie Burger and an orange milkshake. DSis had a Turkey Sandwich and an Oreo Cookie milkshake.
The shakes were great! The food was only okay. I loved the sliced vegetables on the burger but though the veggie patty itself was only okay. DSis thought the turkey was okay too. At this point we were sort of 'fooded out' for the day and decided to go with the fruit salads for dinner. These were good, and light which was nice seeing as I was feeling pretty stuffed right now.
After dinner is a little fuzzy, but I know that around 7:00 we lined up for Fantasmic.
Waiting in line!
Once we finally got into the theater, we realized there was no reason to have to line up early. The side sections hadn't even been opened. We snuck right down to the front row, pumped to have an up close, unobstructed view. However, once the show started we realized that the front row wasn't the best seat in the house. With the water screens spraying and the breeze blowing, we ended up being wet, and chilly for most of the show.
No matter the seats or the temperature, Fantasmic was great as usual. I think I always forget what an awesome show that is. The exit music is one of my favorite and always leaves me uplifted!
We were starting to get pretty tired at this point but decided we wanted to try and jump on ToT and RnR before the night was out. TnT is always one of my favorites. When we reached the top of the drop and the windows opened up to show the whole park lit up in front of us, I had
that moment. You know- that one where it finally hits you. We had talked about this trip for years and we were finally here. It was really magical, and if we weren't about to drop another couple of stories I probably would have pinched myself.
After TnT we waited about 20 minutes for RnR before calling it a night. We headed out of the park and pretty much got right on a bus to head home.
Next Update: Day two!
