Attraction Transcripts and Stairs

Does anyone know if I can get a transcript for an attraction somewhere online? I tend to miss about 25% of what is said unless I can look directly at the speaker. I'd love to be able to read what is actually being said on all of the attractions.

My second question is regarding stairs. Due to a knee problem, climbing stairs is very difficult. I know to avoid Swiss Family Treehouse, but what other attractions have queues with stairs? I seem to remember Splash Mountain does, but that's the only one that comes to mind right now. I can manage up to 5 steps or so at a time, but more than that would cause me problems.

Splash Moutain has stairs. But I believe you can be directed to the exit to board. Dino in AK has stairs, but there is also an elevator. I think the train stations in frontierland and Main street have stairs. (I board in Toontown).

I too sometimes have problems with stairs. The ramps for the Monorail at both MK and Epcot can be killer. They don't have steps but they are quite steep.

You can get scripts to read at the venue. I do not believe they are online. You must return them at the end of the show.

I think every attraction, except the treehouse, has an alternate entrance available (sometimes through the exit) if there are any stairs in the regular queue.

It would probably be easiest to board the train at the Toontown station, the main street station has stairs, or a fairly steep ramp for wheelchairs. I think Frontierland/Splash Mtn train station also has steep ramps.

Scripts are available, but can't be taken from the attraction & definitely no online. You can ask a CM at the attraction & they'll bring you the binder.

Would I need a GAC to use the alternate entrances or is just letting a CM know when I get into line enough?

You should ask for a GAC at Guest Relaitons. Normally for mobility or stamina needs they will recommend use of a wheelchair or ECV. However, if the only need is to bypass stairs they can give you a properly marked GAC.

It is better to have the GAC rather than having to explain to the attraction CM what your needs are.

A lot of the attractions also have built-in systems for those with hearing impairments. These come in the form of hand-held captioning, video captioning and reflective captioning. For the hand-held captioning, you can pick up a device at Guest Relations (you have to leave a refundable deposit) which has the text appear on the screen. The video captioning needs to be activated by a remote, which can be obtained from Guest Relations, or the hand-held captioning device can be used to activate the captioning. When using reflective captioning, they will put a smoky glass screen in front of your seat. This screen will reflect the show script, while still allowing you to see through to watch the show. They also offer assistive listening and sign language translation in some attractions, if that's any help to you.

You can get information on all the services available, and where you can find them, on the official WDW guide for Guests with disabilities (this link will take you straight to the page for hearing difficulties). Also, the type of assistance available at each attraction is shown using symbols beside the attraction descriptions on the maps. You can see copies of the maps on the DIS maps page.

Scripts do change over time. CM spiels can change based on guest actions, the CM and other factors. I forgot to include a remark that the script links might be outdated.
