Attraction effects Disney installed but doesn't use ( w/pics if possible )

Cool thread and makes me wonder what will be different 10-20 years from now...

is it sad i just read thru this entire thread? :surfweb: HAHA
love this!! this is all so interesting and brings back some memories :)

i def remember the cm at rnr getting the guitar and remember seeing both hidden mickey's on the wall and on the floor

i've read about the wave machine and read somewhere they sunk it and it now is on the bottom of the 7 seas lagoon

does anyone remember/know if they still have a...i guess you would call it foam making machine at HS during the christmas season that gives the allusion it's snowing on one of the streets? i think i went back in 2000 late nov and i remember walking down one of the streets w/ the "snow" falling

i also to miss the old backlot show :guilty: does it still go by the water tower and thru the warehouse showing the costume rooms etc??

I don't know if this applies to the Epcot version, but when Soarin' first opened in California, the entire room would fill with fog to simulate clouds when the room went dark and the ride vehicle would lift-up. When the fog cleared, the vehicles would be all the way up and the screen would appear.

That would be WAY COOL! Wish that was still working, if it ever had at WDW.

Here's another one...it's not an attraction.
But you used to be able to swim in 7 Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.
But I don't thing they do that anymore.
(well I guess they do but it's very limited area now)

Could someone please tell me where the talking trash can and drinking fountain are located? I've never encountered them, and would love to show my kids.

Push is located in TomorrowLand, different locations (he is mobile). We met up with him on the bridge from the hub.

Pipa is at Rafiki's Station. We've not met up with that one.

1- The crocodile bridge has always been described in the CM spiel as "rickety" (or similar) but THAT bridge does not "rock."
It is ANOTHER bridge (just before the "red clay pits") that is rigged to oscillate while the vehicle is on it. It did not oscillate with EVERY passing vehicle, even in the past.

2-Now, with the newer version of the ride (new spiel, etc.) I'm not sure that it EVER oscillates the ride vehicles, anymore.

The bridge does still rock. The last two trips we took both times they did the rickety bridge, cross your fingers spiel. That was in mid-June and over July 4th, 2009. We were surprised because it had been so long since they did that.

What about the "You are Doomed" or something like that that was on the board at ToT made from the fallen letters? I don't think that is there anymore or I haven't seen it in a long time.

The volume controls on small world have never changed from the high setting. I suppose they felt no need to ever lower the speakers. Thats about all I can think of for unused effects.

Actually if I recall on Dinosaur (back when it was Countdown to Extinction) at some point when the carnotaurus was right near you, you would feel a warm mist which actually smelled horrible...

OMG I remember that smell! It was there for several years when I was a kid and I still have it in my smell memory. I could recognize it now (almost 20 years later) if I were to breathe it in.

Good to know that the effect is still used, at least part of the time.

That may tend to come-and-go (like the Hidden Mickey" plate arrangement in the Ballroom scene of Haunted Mansion.)
Since these "features" were not a part of the original design of the attractions, but were added by creative CM's over time, they may get removed by some CM's and replaced by others.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread. Didn't they use to fog the room during the preshow when Ellen says "not in here over there!" Am I just imagining this?

It is still in the preshow, but it is in the video, not where the guests are waiting. Fog was never in the waiting area.

too many posts t read so if someone already mentioned the ones im going to say,,,sorry

this pertains to EE only,,, 2 waterfalls (only one works/when working),,,no snow at top of "B" lift,,no bird on the stick,,,no fog in mountain that use to hide the track flip.

cool thread I remember the Little Red storyline when Animla Kingdom first opened it a shame to hear they remoce most of these elemetns

Just found this thread and haven't yet had the time to read all so please forgive me if this was already mentioned & answered.

At the beginning of Pirates of the Carribbean, just before the little fall, there are 2 skeletons on the left. I remember the arm of one slowly waving back & forth as if beckoning and saying "Dead men tell no tales". Am I remembering something that never was?

I think you're kind of remembering something, but it's a little off.

There used to be a skull and crossbones at the top of the drop that would talk to you. I don't remember what it said, but it may have said "dead men tell no tales." and maybe other similar pirate sayings and warnings.
