Attraction effects Disney installed but doesn't use ( w/pics if possible )

Yes and if I am not mistaken there were more dancing foods etc in the Be Our Guest scene...this show was cut down.

The little Mermaid was also cut down I do not think the mist hits you in the face at the beginning and I KNOW a lot of the effects were cut out as the show was made shorter.

I believe the doves were cut because some of the local hawks caught on to the schedule.

If I'm not mistaken, the guns used to be loud and startling? Maybe not. But I know the guns they are now using are like a little click, not even a cap.

I thought the gun noise was loud, but I don't have anything to compare it to. It did sound like a click though, and not a cap.

Adventure Thru Inner Space :)

It was the coolest and a great memory from my first Disney visit when I was 10.
Was that the one that had a giant eyeball staring down at you? It's one of a few memories I have of my first visit to WDW.

I've been following this thread but don't recall if these have been mentioned (sorry if they have):

On Tower of Terror when you elevator moved across the room there is an Eye effect on one side. The eye shows your vehicle passing by and it used to actually be a picture of your vehicle with you in the picture. Now it is just a stock picture that is used. That was turned off long ago.

Also at the end of Splash there used to be a TV and written near it said something like "it's the truth, It's actual" and it had your drop photo shown as you passed by.

The hopping Br'er Rabbit from SplMtn usually isn't working, but I was able to get a photo of it, not a good one though...

Really? Last September we rode it nearly 10 times (possibly more) and it was always working!

And maybe I dreamed this but didn't you used to be able to eat on a second floor in Pinochio's Haus?

It's still there!

You enter from the outside of the Haus, using a stairway on the Dumbo side of the building. It's very non-descript. According to the 3D image on Google Earth, it's in the patio area.

Actually you can get in from the inside and there's a dining area inside but there's also a small patio. It's almost always empty!

In approx 1982, on Main Street there used to be an alleyway off to the left. There were benches with huge arrangements of flowers all around them. Some real, some not. It was just an alley to explore and take pictures and relax. Somewhere there is a great pic of my sister and I sitting on a white iron bench surrounded by masses of colors of flowers. I think they made it a store extension instead.

When we were there in Sept, I was very dissapointed that at the end of Fantasmic all of the charcters didn't ride by on the old fashioned paddle boat. I don't remember Steamboat Willie driving this, just all of the characters at once. I hope it is back!

YES it was a picture spot just like the one near the Christmas Shop when you get out of the Muppets Movie.

Not that it is an effect but I remember when there was a See's Candy Shop on main street. It was great! I hate the candy shop they have now it is all run of the mill bagged stuff.

You can also get to it from outside there is a door at the top of the stairs.

I got to say that over the past two days I have read all 25 pages of this thread and loved it. Being a young member and first time poster I can really remember all of the things that you all have talked about like the guns on the jungle cruise, the old backlot, dream flight in tomorrowland, who can forget crazy larry trying to sell space crafts in space mtn. que..etc.

I thought I would add some things that I didnt see mentioned...I think

What about the Galaxy Palace Theater that sits next to the exit to buzz. I only think I ever saw maybe one or two things there ever and now its just sitting there.

The Tommorowland Terrace station I think is only open seasonally, but I dont think it hosts anything else when it is not open

Did they get rid of the place in Tomorrowland where the buckets used to enter and leave?

I havent seen the Camels spit water out at the Aladdin ride in forever...lol

Is there any resemblence left of the mickey head..other than the lake...in MGM...I still refuse to call it DHS. You used to be able to see it on some old maps, but I dont know if it is still there at all.

Near the backlot tour in MGM there are some large coke bottles that sometimes spray water. Ive gone by numerouse times and have seen them not working. Maybe its only a summer thing or something.

I dont know if the purchase a leave a legacy place pavillion is still in the front of SE...usually stay at BW so dont normally go in the front anymore.

Odyssey restaraunt???..other than when its food and wine festival.

Outside the International Gateway there is what seems to be some kind of bus loop or tram loop that never got completed or designed. It could also be just a grassy area I dont know, maybe someone can share something about it.

Millenium Village other than food and wine events such as party for the senses.

The second track for Primeval Whirl. Whenever I am there it seems that only the right side is being used, actually I've never even been on the left track although I'm sure its the same as the other one.

The Walk around the World bricks that never made it from the MK to the GF.

Great boards and thread.

The camels were spitting water out last week! We rode the Magic Carpets twice and got squirted each time while on the ride. It was super hot, so it was nice to get the camel "spit."

First, I too lament the lack of use of the prop gun on JC. I can remember in the mid '90s having a CM fire off a few shots randomly near the waterfall where two of the boats will usually come pretty close to each other. He then hung himself off the side, looking like he had been killed by someone on the boat. The skipper of the passing boat looked at us and said "That is the best thing that will ever happen to you." Our CM was hilarious. He deviated a lot from the script and the ride was better because of it.

Our captain used the pistol just this month of the Jungle Cruise. He didn't shoot it, but he did wave it at the hippos saying "Bad hippo, shoo!" His name was Joe and he was hilarious!!!

I haven't seen it mentioned, but the volcano in the Mexico pavillion used to rumble and have a small lava flow coming out of it. Now the flow just sort of hangs there, and it doesn't rumble at all.

Is that maybe because it now does something only in response to the "Kimmunicators?"

(Not sure -- I ran the Norway mission with my son but let my wife do Mexico with him while I took a break with the twins...)

There was a Christmas-themed stage show there last year on MVMCP nights...

I remember back in the early 90's there was a daytime fireworks show in EPCOT. They had these little one man helicoters flying over the lagoon with colored smoke coming from the engine. I guess it was EPCOTS answer to the afternoon parade.

Galaxy Palace theater is now gone and replaced by a CM parking lot.

The Skyway buildings in both Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are still there. The Fantasyland one, the area by it, is stroller parking. The Tomorrowland one has construction walls around it and I heard that something will be done to it to go with Space Mountain. I don't know for sure about that.

The hidden mickey at the Studios is pretty much gone. The only remnant really is one ear that is the lake. The face is covered by the hat. The other ear was gone after they put in Sunset Blvd, I believe.

The giant Coke bottles weren't working for awhile and I know this past week they were fixed and spraying water just like they used to.

The Leave a Legacy is still there at the front of Epcot.

Just thought about the exit to SM with all the FedEx stuff that just sits there. There used to be a voiceover as you went through the escalator back, now you just walk by it.

So the one I was talking about (where we saw the MVMCP stage show) is something different entirely, or they just did away with it this year? :confused3

(I'm con-foo-sed...)

You did see the stage show at the Galaxy Palace theater. They got rid of the stage this year.

It did indeed serve as a tram loop for transportation from the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

With an increase of the "population" in the area with the later additions of the Swan, Dolphin and Boardwalk Resorts, safety concerns were raised.

Also, since the Friendship boats serviced all of those resorts plus Disney Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios, at the time) and the walk from any of those resorts to Epcot's (EPCOT, at the time) International Gateway was rather pleasant and preferred by many, the tram service fell to the wayside.
